GENERAL DESCRIPTION
TWINTEX ® rovings are multifilament tow of glass and polypropylene designed for pultrusion, weaving,
knitting, and filament winding. It consists of E-glass fibers commingled with thermoplastic fibers.
TWINTEX ® rovings are transformable, with the addition of heat and minimal pressures, into high strength
composites. Product advantages include high glass content, high impact properties, infinite shelf, no
emissions, recyclability and ease of processing. Consolidation is done by heating the strand above the
melting temperature of the Polypropylene matrix (360°F - 450°F / 180°C - 230°C).
II. AVAILABLE PRODUCTS
TWINTEX ® rovings are currently available as a polypropylene/glass product produced at various glass
contents. Rovings are available for inside pull applications. Product color options are natural or black.
III. PACKAGING
Pallet dimensions are 51” wide x 39” deep (~1295mm x 990mm) and include side entry notches such that the
pallet can be picked up by fork truck on either the width or depth side of the pallet. There are two basic pallet
constructions, one for domestic shipping in North America (Bulk Pack), and one for export shipping (Export
Pack) in a 40 foot ocean container. Both use the same 51” wide x 39” deep pallet. The pallet will be heat
treated as required by country.
Bulk Pack pallet: Rovings are palletized in a 3x4 configuration 4 layers high for a total of 48 rovings
per pallet. Height of Bulk Pack pallet is ~ 48” (1220mm)
Export Pallet: Rovings are palletized in a 3x4 configuration 3 layers high for a total of 36 rovings per
pallet. Height of Export pallet is ~37” (940mm)
V. VISUAL ACCEPTANCE STANDARDS
The natural product is an off-white color while the black material is a salt and pepper color.
The rovings are firmly and evenly wound with a uniform lay and straight package build. A roving whose
shape detracts from run-out performance will be rejected. Examples of defects may be concavity, convexity,
ridges, etc.
The rovings will be free of foreign matter such as dirt, oil, grease, such that it would detract from the
performance or appearance of the finished product. Contaminated rovings will be rejected.
VI. STORAGE
TWINTEX ® Rovings should be stored in their original packaging, away from humidity and at a moderate
temperature.
The recommended storage conditions are:
• Temperature between: 60°F to 95°F (15°C to 35°C)
• Humidity between 35% and 65%
If product is stored at a lower than recommended temperature (below 60°F/15°C), it should be conditioned
at the recommended temperature prior to use for at least 24 hours to prevent condensation.
Pallets can be double stacked (maximum of two layers high).
Fiber Glass Industries reserves the right to discontinue or modify any of its products without prior notice and assumes no liability
whatsoever as a result of any such discontinuance or modification. However, it is Fiber Glass Industries intent that every
reasonable effort will be undertaken to provide all appropriate notices in the event of any planned modification or
discontinuance.
In any instance where the material is rejected, it should be properly stored and must not be used. Fiber Glass Industries must
be notified of the alleged deviation within 30 days of the product receipt. Fiber Glass Industries must be given an opportunity to
inspect the product and to take whatever action is deemed appropriate.
