1. Call to Order Carmela di Iorio, Principal, chaired the meeting and called it to order at
18:45 by welcoming all the members and wishing them a successful start
of school year.

The principal presented a PowerPoint on the Role of the Governing Board.
She also referred to the reference book “How Does the Quebec Education
System Work – A Primer for School Governing Boards”. This handbook can
be downloaded from the following website:

The agenda of the meeting was read. The following additions were made:

Linda Aubertin moved that the agenda be approved and Costa
Thanopolous seconded the motion. The motion was carried unanimously.
The minutes of June 12, 2012 were tabled for the next meeting.
There were not questions from the public.

6.1 Chairperson Nomination
Brenda Flanagan nominated Costa Thanopolous as Governing Board
Chairperson. Linda Aubertin seconded the nomination. The nomination
was carried unanimously
6.2 Secretary Nomination
Robert Lalli nominated Meghan Hughes as Governing Board Secretary.
Costa Thanopolous seconded the nomination. The nomination was carried
unanimously.
6.3 Treasurer Nomination
Since there is a small budget, it was unanimously agreed that there was no
need for a treasurer.
6.4 Community Member Representative
Kathryn Acton nominated Philip Piette Community Member
Representative. Brenda Flanagan seconded the nomination. The
nomination was carried unanimously.
6.5 Sector Parent Representative (CPC) & Alternate
Tracy Killen nominated Robert Lalli as Sector Parent Representative. Liuba
Kostyk seconded the nomination. The nomination was carried
unanimously.
Meghan Hughes nominated George Kambitakis as Alternative Sector
Parent Representative. Costa Thanopoulos seconded the nomination. The
nomination was carried unanimously.
It was established that the governing will meet every second Tuesday of
the month, from 18:30 – 20:30.

George Kambitakis moved that the dates be approved. Jeffrey Ziedel
seconded the motion. The motion was carried unanimously.
7. Operation 7.1 Governing Board Rules of Operation (Internal Management)
The Governing Board Rules of Operation were presented by the principal.
A short discussion ensued. Robert Lalli moved that the Governing Board
Rules of Operation be approved and Jeffrey Ziedel seconded the motion.
The motion was carried unanimously.
7.2 Governing Board Annual Financial Report 2011-12
The Governing Board Annual Financial Report for 2011-12 was presented
by the principal. See attached for details. Jeffrey Ziedel moved that the
Governing Board Annual Financial Report for 2011-12 be approved and
Linda Aubertin seconded the motion. The motion was carried
unanimously.
7.3 Governing Board Annual Budget
This was tabled to the next meeting.
8. New Business 8.1 Triangulum Uniforms
Robert Lalli reported that he has received many complaints about the
services provided by Triangulum Uniforms. The principal agreed that the
company has not delivered as expected. The principal has been in contact
with the company who has agreed to make exchanges. There is no
contract or commitment to continue doing business with Triangulum
Uniforms.
8.2 Microwaves
Robert Lalli reported that parents have complained to him about
microwave services no longer available at lunch. The principal has not
received any complaints.
The daycare technician and teachers reported that the students have
adjusted quite well and are now eating healthier lunches. The noise level
is down, there is more discipline, and better cleanliness throughout the
school at lunch.
The principal explained that due to the growth of the school population,
students now eat in their classrooms, due to limited space. There is also
the issue of lack of proper outlets around the school to support extra
demands of electricity. Not to mention the health issues caused by
improper packing of lunches, temperature storage, and handling.

Any complaints are to be directed to the principal directly.
To provide students with choice and convenience to parents, food services
are being provided by Chartwells: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
Fees are collected once a month.
Robert Lalli complained that his child does not like the food. The principal
explained that it would be important to be more specific about what the
child does not like and this information will be reported back to
Chartwells, who will adapt accordingly. The principal has agreed to invite
Anne Tetro, LBPSB Administrative Officer, Food Service & Nutrition, and a
Chartwells representative. A sample of the menu and prices are attached.
8.3 Parking
7 Reports 7.1 School Success Plan
The Community Member Representative, Philip Piette, informed the
members that parents are complaining about parking and drop off and
suggested that a petition be sent to the city of LaSalle. After a discussion,
it was agreed that the issue was not the parking restrictions, but parents
not following the parking regulations. The Centrale Street area is for drop
off only. Parents should not park in this area. Parents who want to see
their child off, are to park their car where permitted and then walk their
child to school.
The principal informed the members that the School Success Team will be
attending a workshop on October 5 to review plans, data, and reporting
procedures. A report for the 2011-12 will be submitted before December
2012.

There was no teacher report, other than it has been a good start of year.

It has been a good start of year.
7.5 Community Representative Report
No report.
7.6 Home and School Report
Home and School met for the first time on September 18. The Chocolate
fundraising has been a success. They are in the process of tallying the
money raised. Presently they are looking at either a pizza or sub lunch
fundraiser to be carried out once a month.
7.7 Region 3 Parent Representative Report
No Report.
The next Governing Board meeting will be held on Tuesday,
October 9, 2012.
