Beth Israel, Wallingford
3 Jewish Foundation oF Greater new haven
Jewish Foundation oF Greater new haven 4
T his
summer, Beth Israel Synagogue, Wallingford, established
their first endowment fund with the Jewish Foundation of
Greater New Haven.
The monies used to establish the endowment were part of a charitable
bequest from the late Debra Kaplan Fallon. Debra’s parents were members
of Beth Israel and as a child, Debra also attended Beth Israel.
“One of the reasons we chose the Jewish Foundation is we are confident
that the monies will be well managed. The Foundation provides independent,
professional oversight and their prudent management can ensure
the endowment continues in perpetuity. We hope others will add to our
endowment, either through charitable bequests or current gifts. We hope
that in the future our endowment will be large enough to help provide for
a full-time rabbi, educational programs, and ongoing capital costs,”
states Beryl Bloch, Beth Israel President.
“The Jewish Foundation is a partner and resource for local synagogues like
Beth Israel. We can assist them not only in soliciting charitable bequests but
also in managing their endowment monies. A strong endowment provides a
synagogue with financial security,” states Lisa Stanger, Foundation Director.
”We look forward to a long and strong relationship with Beth Israel.”
When ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shall wholly reap the corners of thy field, neither shall
gather the gleanings of thy harvest…thou shall leave them for the poor and the stranger.
