construction time<br />

The new PERI <strong>MAXIMO</strong> wall <strong>formwork</strong> system created a tremendous<br />
amount of interest with visitors to this year´s bauma trade fair in Munich.<br />
With the <strong>MAXIMO</strong>, a new generation of <strong>panel</strong> <strong>formwork</strong> was presented<br />
which combines the insights and findings gained over many years from<br />
previous <strong>panel</strong> <strong>formwork</strong> systems as well as offering additional<br />
advantages.<br />
For almost two decades now, the TRIO <strong>panel</strong> <strong>formwork</strong> with the optimized<br />
BFD alignment coupler has demonstrated its speed and versatile<br />
functionality – and with the introduction of the TRIO Housing, the handling<br />
was improved even more through the ties being fitted from one side only,<br />
resulting in substantially reduced shuttering times. The new <strong>MAXIMO</strong> has<br />
been designed to include both these outstanding product features. In<br />
addition, the centrically-positioned tie points in all element sizes mean that<br />
concrete surfaces with attractive architecturally-designed tie and joint<br />
arrangements can also be created.<br />
These advantages match the requirements of numerous building<br />
contractors such as those of Mayer Construction, a company which is<br />
based in the town of Ruhpolding in the state of Bavaria. For their wide<br />
range of building projects in the areas of housing development, industrial<br />
construction as well as civil and underground engineering, the speed and<br />
the flexibility of the <strong>MAXIMO</strong> is particularly in demand. On the one hand, a<br />
wall <strong>formwork</strong> system should be quick and easy to use and, on the other,<br />

it must exhibit multi-purpose usability for reinforced concrete walls,<br />
foundations, columns and beams.<br />
Mayer´s fourth use of the <strong>MAXIMO</strong> <strong>formwork</strong> involved forming the<br />
reinforced concrete walls of a rectangular-shaped cellar for a semidetached<br />
house, with an 11 x 14 metre ground plan, in two cycles.<br />
Instead of having to set aside the usual four days to complete the job,<br />
foreman Enrico Schirmer required only three days using <strong>MAXIMO</strong> - with a<br />
<strong>formwork</strong> crew of only three men. Schirmer attributes the time-savings<br />
achieved quite clearly to the fact that the <strong>MAXIMO</strong> <strong>formwork</strong> must only be<br />
anchored from one side. As it happens, due to the newly developed,<br />
conical tie system, spacer tubes are no longer required. This keeps site<br />
movements to an absolute minimum and saves on resources as well as<br />
time. Very few different system components, suited for construction sites<br />
and the rigid corner design also contribute to faster forming.<br />
A positive side-effect is also the fact that using the <strong>MAXIMO</strong> with its<br />
centrically-arranged tie points throughout always results in a neat tie and<br />
joint arrangement. Because all tie positions are filled, no unsightly<br />
impressions of PVC plugs appear on the concrete finish itself.<br />
Furthermore, the systematized and clear tie point specifications lead to<br />
error-free forming – this additionally accelerates the shuttering times. "The<br />
<strong>MAXIMO</strong> is unbeatable", said Enrico Schirmer, and added: "I am very<br />
impressed and totally convinced about the system".<br />
