Dear guests, dear participants at the congress,
On the beach of the Baltic we always feel: The air
tastes the ocean, the respiration is free, and the
seawater is refreshening the body and effects the soul.
People here in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern feel and
have the experience of the positive effects of the sea
climate and the salty water.
That is why in Heiligendamm in Mecklenburg-
Vorpommern we find the basis for thalassotherapy in
Germany. Cures with seawater were offered already
in 1793; the water was used for bathing but the guests
also drank it.
This tradition obliges us to go ahead. In our days the
region of health - Mecklenburg-Vorpommern – with
its excellent hotels and offers for cures takes one of
the first places in thalassotherapy: The first international
congress for thalassotherapy was organised in
Warnemünde in 2002. There we also find the first certified
Original-Thalasso-Centre. The number of visitors in
thalassotherapy-centres in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern
is quickly increasing.
Voluntarily I invite you as the patron for the II.
