The birthday spirit has hit <strong>LR</strong> <strong>Health</strong> & <strong>Beauty</strong> <strong>Systems</strong>: for ten years now, the company has been selling a<br />

broad range of high quality Aloe Vera products with great success. Rumour has it that even the great sailor<br />

Christopher Columbus kept a supply of Aloe Vera on board his ships – he used its gel to help his crew’s cuts<br />

to heal. Aloe Vera grows on five continents. The best value growth regions are South America, China and<br />

above all Mexico. Here the Aloe Vera is cultivated at an altitude of 1,000 metres. <strong>LR</strong> reaps some 4.2 tonnes<br />

of it a year (about 24 million leaves).<br />

“The plant is actually lilaceous and not a cactus, as is commonly believed. There are about 300 different<br />

kinds of Aloe Vera," explained Sabine Larsen-Vefring, the Head of <strong>LR</strong> Research and Development. But the<br />

Aloe Barbadensis Miller stands alone as the uncontested all-rounder. Aloe Vera is apparently the most multi-<br />

functional of plants. It is the ingredients of <strong>this</strong> particular type of lily and the precious additives which make<br />

care products a real experience for the skin. Traditional herbs and oils perfectly supplement the lily of the<br />

desert gel and provide rapid and intensive care for the skin. Adding natural organic extracts and avoiding<br />

parabens and mineral oils to a large extent rounds off the care programme.<br />

The outstanding quality of <strong>LR</strong> Aloe Vera products is guaranteed by regular inspections from the International<br />

Aloe Science Council. The association aims to protect the interests of all Aloe Vera sectors. It conducts<br />

scientific analyses consistently and at regular intervals on the quality of cultivation areas as well as the<br />

processors and manufacturers of the different products.<br />
