Advanced Photographer January 2012 issue put
together a range of studio lighting kits - an extract
appears below. it is worth noting some of these kits
cost considerably more than ours!
The ace card here is price, and
Lencarta is great value
By carefully trimming the frills and concentrating on
getting the important things right, you get a lot for
your money with Lencarta.
The heads perform well, and only miss out on
some of the finer points that can mostly be worked
around. They are well designed, like the neat
one-lever swivel nd tilt head adjustment, and solidly
made.
Good savings also extend to high-quality
accessories. Not jut the all-important light modifiers,
but stands, booms, triggers and carry cases.
HOW IT RATES
Features: Heads have all the essentials. Build your
own custom outfit.
Performance: Overall good, very tight control of
colour
Handling: Good, though power dial sensitvie to small
adjustment at high output
Value for money: Deserves the maximum score.
Great value.

or for when lighting extra large interiors.
ElitePro 600
16
There’s a lot more to a good flash head than its performance and price - the
other things that really matters are build quality and structural strength, because
flash heads need to be able to withstand knocks and to be capable of being
packed away and transported without damage.
The bodies of these flash heads are made from ABS, which provides far better
protection than the cast metal bodies used by some other manufacturers, they
also have powerful shock resistant cooling fans!
The 600 Ws mono flash head produces at least as much light during its very
short flash exposure as 600 watts of continuous lighting would produce during a
1 second exposure.
Fitted with the standard reflector (not included) it produces a guide number of
220 (equivalent to f/22 @ 10’ at 100 ISO) which is ideal for portrait, glamour,
fashion, event and many types of product photography.
Because of its high power, this flash head is especially suitable for group
photography, commercial photography and for when specialist light
shaping tools such as spotlights and honeycomb grids are used. But good
studio lights produce far more than just power. The power needs to be capable
of fine control, and the flash head needs to accept a wide range of light shaping
tools and modifiers, as well as to produce clean, consistent light quality at all
power settings.
Another, very important factor is flash duration, because fast flash duration not
only freezes movement but also produces very consistent colour temperature.
The flash duration of the ElitePro 600 is a very impressive 1/1000th second
(t-05), far faster than many similar product on the market!

Safari
Lighting Your Way
Although our mains powered flash heads can also be used on location with third party battery solutions,
the true professional solution to location lighting is our Safari portable power system, and we have a
choice of two models. Both models produce an incredible 600Ws of power (50% more than their nearest
competitor) and so can easily overpower the sun when required.
The Safari Classic is our entry level model, offering outstanding value for money and it has steel flash
heads that can cope with even the largest and heaviest light shapers, and our Safari Li-on is our highly
sophisticated pro model, with a lithium ion battery that produces 5 times as many flashes as its nearest
competitor, 50% more power and a much brighter modeling lamp than its nearest competitor, 4 stops
of power adjustment, asymmetric 2:1 power distribution, very fast recycling and extremely stable colour
temperature and flash energy consistency.
Although designed for location use where mains power is not available, both models are also at home in
the studio, and the Li-on system can be recharged while in use.
Each model can power either one or two dedicated flash heads, or a dedicated professional ringflash
head, each can be supplied with a 5m extension cable and, best of all, each will accept the full range
of Lencarta/Bowens fit light shapers and accessories, and they fit straight onto the flash heads, with no
adapters needed.

flash head is fitted to socket A, the maximum power is 600 Ws and the power
can be reduced to 25 Ws. The full power setting is enough to overpower the
sun in most lighting situations. The power range from socket B is from 200 -
12.5Ws, so the flash head can be plugged into socket B for ultra fast recycling
or for when you wish to use a large aperture.
Flash output is adjustable from full power down to 1/16th, via a digital
adjustment dial. The power setting is shown on the LED display, which also
shows the length of time that you have set for the modelling lamp to be on (up
to 99 seconds).
Although the lithium battery is lightweight and tiny, it has an enormous
capacity and provides 400 flashes at full power (many more at lower power
settings). It makes no difference whether one or two flash heads are fitted.
The flash performance is amazing – the flash energy consistency varies no
more than 1/10th of a stop at any power setting, and the colour temperature
is extremely consistent too, varying flash to flash by no more than 10K (10
degrees on the Kelvin scale)! The colour temperature is 5600 at full power and
reduces by only 340K at minimum power.
The recycling time is extremely fast, there are two settings, normal and fast.
Using the normal setting drains the battery less quickly, so this setting should
be used when possible. At normal recycling setting, it recycles in just one
second at minimum power and 3.75 seconds at full power. When you switch
to fast recycling those times become an incredible 0.384 seconds at minimum
power and 2.9 seconds at full power.
Although in theory, the Safari li-on has 50% more power than it’s nearest and
much more expensive rival, in practical terms it produces 110% more power!

Light Shapers
Light shapers are the all-important tools that fit to studio flash heads, and they are important because they shape and control
the light, which is the essence of good lighting.
Light shapers are broadly divided into four separate categories;
softboxes, umbrellas, general purpose and specialised
attachments.
Softboxes are a universal tool designed to create either soft
lighting or rim lighting, umbrellas are generally used when
speed and portability are important. General purpose tools
include a range of reflectors, snoots and our barn door
attachments. Our specialist tools include our fresnel spot
attachment, our focussing spot attachment, beauty dishes
and honeycombs.
These are tools that are used by the top fashion, portrait
and product photographers because they help to define
and enhance the qualities of the subject and create
striking images.
Light Shapers
We have two distinct ranges of softboxes, folding and non-folding. Each range produces an extremely high quality of light, with
unparalleled evenness over the entire surface of the front diffuser, this is achieved by a combination of high quality materials and
good design.
In particular, our softboxes are extra deep, this ensures that the light is reflected from the walls perfectly before even reaching the first
of the two diffusers, which are themselves much more dense and effective than most. And the front diffusers are deeply recessed,
this allows the light to be feathered, so that the subject can, if required, be lit with just the edge of the softbox, and it also allows our
softboxes to be used to create graduated backgrounds. The deep recess also allows our very effective softbox honeycombs (grids)
to be fitted to many of our softboxes.
One of the unique features of our softboxes is that a full range of speedring adapters is available, and changing the speedring fitting
allows our softboxes to be used on different makes of flash head if required. By default, they will fit on Lencarta & Bowens flash
heads but you can choose a different speedring, which will fit...
Softboxes create softer light by making the effective surface of
the light bigger; the larger the light source, relative to the size of
the subject, the softer the light. We have an excellent range of
softboxes in both folding and standard versions, at very
affordable prices.
Our ProFold range of folding softboxes can be assembled and
put away in seconds.
Most of our softboxes are available with speedrings that fit other
makes of flash heads too, so you can use Lencarta softboxes
with your existing flash heads!
Chiaro Softboxes
Chiaro (non-folding) Softboxes
Our Chiaro softboxes can be assembled/dissembled quickly
and easily, simply by fitting either 4 or 8 support rods (depending
on the model) into the sockets built into the speedring, and fitting
the other ends into the corners of the softbox itself, and then
fitting both the inner and outer diffusers. This is a simple and fast
process, and our Chiaro softboxes are ideal for use in permanent
studios, where the softbox can be left assembled for most of the
time. Fitted with both an inner and an outer diffuser, these
softboxes can produce both soft lighting and a much harder,
specular light. It takes only seconds to remove or replace the
diffusers. All Lencarta Chiaro softboxes have a “deep throat”
design that forces the light to bounce around fully within the
softbox, producing extremely even lighting across the entire front
of the softbox. They also have a deeply recessed outer diffuser at
the front, which allows the light to be feathered and which helps
to prevent lens flare.
Our 100 x 100cm Chiaro softbox is
Profold Softboxes
Profold Softboxes
Softboxes are often considered to be the ideal tool for creating
soft light, because they combine the soft, diffused light effect
of a shoot-through umbrella with the controlled, directional (but
harsher) light of a reflective umbrella.
But traditional softboxes do have a disadvantage, because, when
used in the home or when they are transported, they need to be
taken apart and reassembled, which can be time consuming.
The Lencarta Profold softboxes completely solve this problem
because they open just like an ordinary umbrella – it takes just a
few seconds!
Umbrella softboxes have been available for some time but most
of them are incapable of producing soft light because they are
designed to work like a reflective umbrella, with the flash head
between the softbox and the subject, which forces them to be
placed too far away for soft lighting. The Lencarta Profold
softboxes work in exactly the same way as conventional
softboxes, so they can be placed as close as you wish.
All Lencarta ProFold softboxes have a “deep throat” design that
forces the light to bounce around fully within the softbox,
producing extremely even lighting across the entire front of the
softbox. They also have a deeply recessed outer diffuser at the
Fresnel Spot Attachment
Fresnel Spot Attachment
It became famous in 1920s Hollywood and is now the light shaping tool of
choice for fashion, glamour and portrait photographers who have moved
beyond soft lighting and who want to emphasise high cheekbones and good
complexions.
A Fresnel lens shapes the light into an organized beam of mostly parallel light
rays. It can be focused to produce a tighter smaller spot or a looser, wider
spot of light.
Used at a distance, it’s a harder light which creates a sharper, yet still smooth
shadow edge transfer. When used close to the subject, as in a still life shot,
the relatively large size of a 9” Fresnel lens positioned just 10 inches from the
set creates a mix of hard and soft light. The shadow edges are still very
distinct yet there is some wrap of light as well.
The Fresnel spot attachment can
be fitted to our ElitePro,
UltraPro, Safari Classic and
Safari Li-on ranges (some other
makes will also fit using one of
our speedring adapters) and
produces a unique quality of
light that simply cannot be
used to produce a hard-edged light that cannot be achieved with any other
accessory. This focusing spotlight attachment can be used to create dramatic
to illuminate the background. Lighting gels can be fitted to the front, and blue, red,
yellow, turquoise and neutral density ones are included. Also included are a gobo
JumboPara
JumboPara
Our new JumboPara is a massive 1.65m diameter parabolic reflector, suitable for use in large studios.
The JumboPara is an extremely versatile professional light shaping tool - in its ‘normal’ configuration is produces a massive
light that’s ideal for fashion photography and groups.
By adjusting the distance from the flash head to the reflector (or by fitting a different reflector to the flash head) the light can be
changed from spot to flood, or anywhere between these two extremes.
Because of its size it can be used to produce extremely soft light when required, and
can be used at a distance when required without sacrificing too much of its softness!
UMB006
As you can see in the photo below, the JumboPara
is fitted with a standard 16mm (5/8”) spiggot,
m allowing it to be used with any modern flash
head, not just Lencarta. As you can see in the
photo at right, the flash head can be rotated if
required, to produce various different effects
including more light at the top, bottom or one
side, and various different reflectors, such as
our standard, wide angle and spill kill reflectors
can produce a range of different effects too.
Jumbo Para
Jumbo Para
And if a simple reflector is placed in front of it it produces a beautiful
ringflash effect! The reflector in this photo (not included) is our 80cm
5 in 1 reflector. Even more extreme results can be obtained by using
our 110cm reflector.
It comes complete with its own heavy duty wheeled stand, which
should be weighted for extra safety. It can be taken apart for storage
40cm Beauty Dish
Our 40cm beauty dishes are available with a choice of warm white and silver
finishes. We believe that Lencarta are the first manufacturer to introduce
beauty dishes with warm matt white interiors - so what are the advantages
and disadvantages of white compared to silver?
Advantages of white beauty dishes...
1. They produce softer light.
2. When used with a honeycomb they do not create a shadow of the
honeycomb, reflected from the interior of the dish.
Disadvantages of white beauty dishes...
They are about .8 of a stop less efficient in terms of light output, although this
is not usually important as they are typically used very close to the subject.
Silver MOD018
White MOD023
A honeycomb grid is also available. This allows even
greater control of both light spread and flare and can
produce stunning, dramatic lighting with very hard
shadow transfer edges if required.
70cm Beauty Dish
Our 70cm beauty dishes are available with a choice of warm
white and silver finishes.
48
The large Beauty dish measures 70cm (27.5”) diameter and
so, when used close to the subject, can provide wraparound
lighting. Although the effect produced by the 70cm beauty dish
is very similar to that of the smaller 40cm version, its larger size
makes it more versatile and it is suitable for larger subjects,
such as full length portrait and fashion shots, as well as
headshots and small product shots.
The ProBall gives a surrounding light, similar to a bare bulb
effect or, if mounted high up, like a street lamp source. It can
also be used as background lighting or placed underneath a
photography table.
Cinematographers call this a “Chinese lantern”. Its soft, bare
bulb effect is perfect for quick location lighting.
The ProBall is available in two diameters, ProBall30
(30cm/11.8”) and ProBall50 (50cm/19.7”), and can produce
even softer lighting when used in combination with a larger
softbox mounted behind it.
Technical Specifications
Quality of light: Soft, gentle lighting with outwardly-radiating shadows.
Light output (compared to standard reflector) -4 stops.
High intensity Reflector
High Intensity Reflector
Its main use is for creating dramatic shadows, throwing light long
distances, producing controlled bounce from ceilings and
maximising lighting power - it produces 2.5x as much effective
power as the standard reflector at a distance of 3 metres!
Use it to bounce light from a high ceiling, for example at wedding
receptions.
Use it to create hard controlled lighting at long distances.
Use it outdoors, on one of our Safari heads, to produce very high
levels of effective power.
A set of two honeycomb grids is also available.
Background Reflector
MOD005
Background Reflector
This special purpose reflector produces very even light coverage on
backgrounds.
Very little space is needed between the light and the background, this
makes even lighting of the background much easier in small spaces,
and the very even quality of the light dramatically reduces the need for
excessive overexposure when shooting with white backgrounds, which
in turn makes it easier to avoid edge degradation and flare.
The background reflector can be attached to any S-fit flash head and
is fitted with spring clips at each end, used to fit lighting gels for when
coloured backgrounds are needed. It can be rotated as well as angled.
The shot shown right needed just one background reflector, which was
mounted on our special low level background stand, immediately behind
the subject.
The shot below needed two background reflectors to cover the larger
background area and floor.

Spill Kill Reflector
Spill Kill Reflector
The Spill Kill Reflector produces a wide angle of light which is similar to ‘bare bulb’
(no reflector) lighting but without the light spill, and without the risk of flare that results
from bare bulb lighting.
Its main use is for creating a large pool of undiffused light, especially in small spaces.
The standard reflector is the workhorse of studio lighting and is used in
most lighting situations that don’t require softboxes or more specialised light
shapers.
The reflector includes a slot to accommodate an umbrella, which makes a
separate umbrella reflector unnecessary.
The standard reflector is fitted with a rim, used to accommodate our range
of honeycomb grids, it can also be used with honeycomb grids produced by
other manufacturers in the standard 7” size.
MOD004
Snoot With Removeable Honeycomb
The snoot is used to control the spread of light.
Use it to create a soft edged, irregular pool of light on the background, with a
bright centre and concentric radiating circles.
Use it as a hairlight, or as a very controlled backlight for people or product
photography.
Use it with a lighting gel to create interest or to create an edge of colour.
A 30 degree removable honeycomb is included free, this reduces/kills flare
when used as a backlight and also reduces the size of the pool of light.
At a distance of 3m (10’) the bright centre of the pool of light is about 76cm
(30”), reducing to about 56cm (22”) with the honeycomb fitted.
Honeycomb Grids
Honeycomb Grids
As Lencarta is the specialist in creative lighting, it’s no surprise that we have a
massive range of honeycombs to fit our reflectors, beauty dishes and softboxes.
Honeycombs serve two vital functions. They concentrate the light into a smaller
area and, when used as a backlight or rimlight, they prevent lens flare.
Honeycombs are available in 10, 20, 30 & 40 degree versions to fit our standard
reflectors, and are also available to fit our 65 degree reflector, high intensity
reflector, all beauty dishes and many of our softboxes.
Quadlite Continuous Lighting
Quadlite Continuous Lighting
The adjustable power softbox incorporates 4 x 105W photographic spiral fluorescent lights, cool running and with an absolutely
consistent colour temperature of 5,500K, which matches typical daylight as well as flash. Power can be reduced by 50% if required,
allowing full control of the brightness.
The colour rendition index* of 90 guarantees that all colours are reproduced accurately.
The main advantage of fluorescent lights for still photography is that it allows large apertures to be used when required and, because
there is no flash to recharge, it also allows constant shooting.
Continuous lighting solutions are essential for all types of video production and our product is ideal because of its extremely high
power, which is sufficient to allow video equipment to be used in most situations at their lower ISO settings.
The Sun (daylight) has a colour temperature of around 5000K, which is exactly the light quality our
Continuous Fluorescent bulbs produce. Household lamps are normally 2000K, which as illustrated in
the graph is a yellowish light. Household “daylight” bulbs that you can pick up in supermarkets or on
auction sites are often way above 5000K, more like 7000K, which gives photos a blue overcast.
Quadlite Continuous Lighting 62
Continuous lighting is also very popular with portrait photographers because of its ‘what you see is what you get’ quality and
because it allows constant shooting with no recharge delays. Most continuous lighting products can only produce harsh light,
but this new product completely overcomes this problem by incorporating the lights into an efficient, medium sized softbox.
The 80cm x 80cm softbox produces the equivalent of over 1600 watts of tungsten lighting. This means that there is enough light,
at a distance of 1 metre and with 800 ISO, to give a typical full power exposure of 1/60th second at f/13 (or 1/800th at f/4), and a
typical minimum power exposure of 1/30th second at f/4.
The softbox is fitted with a diffuser, which can be removed if required, giving an effect similar to that of a Beauty Dish. If required,
the softbox can be removed and can be replaced with an umbrella (not included).
Supplied complete with lamps. These lamps are several times as powerful as similar lights that cost far more, and a combination
of high performance and low price means that the Lencarta QuadLite is by far the best available.
* The colour rendering
index (CRI) is a quantitative
measure of the ability of a
light source to reproduce the
colours of various objects
faithfully, in comparison
with an ideal or natural light
source, for example daylight
or flash. In photography, light
sources with a high CRI are
essential, and because of
this need for accurate colour,
the Lencarta Quadlite has
a high CRI value of 90.
Lighting Stands
63
Lighting Stands
It’s important to get top quality lighting stands because
cheap ones will let you down, can result in damage to
your equipment and, even worse, can result in injury if
they fail or are knocked over.
All Lencarta stands are strongly constructed from
tough metals, have an extra large footprint for
extra stability, they are capable of supporting
heavy weights and yet can be folded away
for easy storage and transport.
Our floor stand, backlight stand and
two of our boom arms are supplied with castors, and both our
spring damped and air damped stands can be fitted with optional
castors for extra security and convenience, and can also be fitted
with weights.
Choose a spring damped stand for economy, an air damped stand
for ultimate security, a background stand for use when lighting the
background, using a softbox really low or for product photography.
And add our floor stand for when you need to get a light down as
low as low can be.

Home Studio Boom Arm
Lighting Stands / Boom Arms 64
STA008
This boom arm is fully adjustable for both height and
reach and is ideal for home studio and light professional
use. It has a telescopic arm, a heavy duty stand and
both the cross bar and counterweight can be adjusted
for perfect balance.
Boom arms are typically used whenever an overhead
light is needed but the lighting stand needs to be kept
out of the shot, for example for lighting hair, to place
a light above a product etc, and of course boom arms
can also be used for suspending gels, flags etc.
Made entirely of steel, this boom arm has a 4.5kg
counterweight that can be adjusted to any position, the
spring damped stand allows the height from the floor to
the cross bar to be set from 115 - 178cm and the cross
bar is adjustable for length from 130 - 223cm.

Heavyweight
Boom Arm
STA010
With an arm length
of 282cm that is fully
adjustable for both length and angle, and a
5kg counterweight that can be adjusted for
perfect weight balance, the boom arm is the
perfect solution to the problems that arise
whenever a light needs to be placed
overhead and the stand that supports it
needs to be kept out of shot.
The recommended maximum load weight
(lamp and any accessories used) is 10.5kg.
This boom arm is ideal for nearly all flash
heads, regardless of make, and can be used
with heavy accessories such as beauty
dishes. It comes complete with its own heavy
stand, complete with castors. The height can
be adjusted from 55-230cm at the swivel
point. This boom arm should only be used
with the heavy duty stand (supplied) and,
as an additional safety measure, it should
also be weighted.
Professional Parallelogram Boom Arm
This is a heavy duty Parrellegram Boom Set. Just set the flash head
to the tilt angle you require and adjust the angle of the arm to the exact
height you want to create the lighting effect you’re looking for (you can
go up to a maximum height of just over 3 metres, and at its lowest
setting it will nearly touch the floor. When you adjust the angle the
parrellegram design maintains the exact angle, regardless of the setting.
STA011
The advantage of this is obvious for still photographers, because it
will remove the need to change the angle of the flash head when the
height is changed, which saves an enormous amount of time and
greatly improves safety.
And used with a simple double 5/8” female adapter & threaded
spigot, a ball head or pan & tilt head can be added, the boom set
can then be used with camcorders, dramatic effects can be obtained simply by raising
and lowering the boom, changing the height of the shot whilst maintaining the angle of
the camera!
With a fixed arm length of 262cm that can be adjusted for angle, and a 9kg
counterweight that can be adjusted for perfect weight balance, the boom arm is the
perfect solution to the problems that arise whenever a light needs to be placed
overhead and the stand that supports it needs to be kept out of shot. In addition to
the 9kg counterweight, there is a sandbag to provide an additional counterweight
if required.
The recommended maximum load weight (lamp and any accessories used) is 10.5kg.
This boom arm is ideal for nearly all flash heads, regardless of make, and can be used
with heavy accessories such as beauty dishes.
It comes complete with its own heavy duty wheeled stand, which must be weighted
for extra safety. This boom arm can only be used with the stand supplied.
Backlight Stand
STA005
Our backlight stand is made from strong cast metal
and is fitted with castors.
The height can be adjusted from 45 – 71cm, making
it ideal for when even lighting of the background is
needed, and for any lighting situation that requires a
low level light.
stands and boom arms.
Each counterweight weights 3kg.
Counterweights can be fitted to the
foot of your light stand to add extra
stability. Counterweights reduce
the risk of accidental toppling and
greatly improve safety.
Backlight Stand / Accessories 66
Fixed Floor Stand
Our fixed floor stand is made
from strong cast metal and is
fitted with castors. It is not
adjustable and is intended for
use when a flash head needs
to be mounted as close to the
floor as possible .
STA006
Castors
STA004
Castors are highly recommended
for use with all lighting stands,
these castors avoid damage to
floor surfaces and greatly improve
safety, because if someone
collides with the stand it is far
more likely to move than to be
knocked over. Castors are
essential when boom arms and
other accessories are used.

Background Support System / Backgrounds
Background Support System
This is a ‘goalpost’ type system,
made entirely from steel and
ideal for supporting
BAC016
fabric or paper backgrounds
up to 3 metres wide.
It assembles in seconds and can be adjusted to any
height from 92cm to 2.55 metres. The width can be
reduced by removing sections of the top rail (there are
4 sections, each 80cm wide). and it takes only seconds
to change the width to 150cm, 231cm or 300cm. The
sections lock together by means of a spring loaded
ball, and each section locks together rigidly with the
help of a fluted male/female joint. The top bar has a
diameter of 28mm (which fits into the hem of any
fabric background and which will also accept paper rolls).
The tripod support stands each have four sections.
The top bar is secured with a wingnut at each end, and the tripods
also have a standard 16mm reversible spigot, fitted with both a 1/4”
and a 3/8” screw thread, which means that they can also be used
as lighting stands when not required for the background. Another
useful feature is that the spigots can be repositioned at 90 degrees
if required. A partitioned, roll-up carrying bag is included, for easy
transport and storage.
All of these features, and the excellent build quality, combine to
make our background support system the best value and most
versatile of its type.
Muslin Backgrounds
We supply extra thick pure cotton muslin backgrounds
in two sizes, 6 x 3m and 3 x 3m. The backgrounds are
purposely weaved from raw yarn to meet Lencarta’s high
quality requirement.
Perfect for general purpose photography. Available in
Black, Grey, White plus Blue and Green Chroma Key.
Crease resistant, seamless one piece.
Smooth and taut drape.
Fully hemmed around all edges.
Hanging pocket for instant pole fixture.
Muslin backgrounds are made from heavyweight
cotton and are normally used with our background
Radio Triggers
Using a radio trigger to fire the flash in synch with the camera has
become standard, and for good reason. Radio triggers are wireless,
unlike infra red transmitters they are unaffected by ambient light and
they are reliable.
We offer a choice of AC (mains powered) and DC (battery powered)
radio trigger sets. We recommend our mains powered trigger set for
use with our mains powered flash heads and battery powered trigger
sets are needed for our Safari ranges.
A trigger set consists of one hotshoe-fitting transmitter and one
receiver. Only one receiver is needed when using mains powered
flash heads, as the slave photo cell is normally used to trigger the
flash heads that are not fitted with a receiver. Safari units are not
fitted with slave photo cells, which are extremely inefficient when
used in daylight, so if more than one Safari flash generator is used,
each needs to be fitted with a receiver.
Extra triggers and extra receivers are available for both mains
powered and battery powered radio triggers.
Our UltraPro range has a built in radio receiver, which can be used
with our UltraPro Commander.
All Lencarta flash heads are fitted with standard 3.5mm ‘audio’
sockets, and so can be used with most brands of radio trigger.
Triple Adapter Single Adapter
STR003 STR001
Hotshoe Flashgun Adapters
Radio Triggers / Hotshoe Flashgun Adapters 68
Using hotshoe flashguns off-camera nearly always produces a
far higher quality of light than using them on-camera, and the
quality of the light can be improved much further by using one
of the Lencarta S-fit adapters.
These strong metal adapters allow any standard hotshoe
flashgun to be clipped onto the adapter coldshoe; the adapter
has a very full range of adjustment, allowing the flashgun
reflector to be positioned accurately. Light shapers such as
beauty dishes, softboxes etc can then be fitted to the adapter.
We produce two separate adapters, one accepts a single
flashhead and the other one accepts three flashheads,
which can be tilted in different directions to light the insides
of large softboxes equally.

Light Tables / Spares
Home Quick Setup Still Life Table
Product shooting tables are the professional’s tool of choice for
photographing small products, either against a white background
or, using either paper backgrounds or lighting gels, with any other
type of background.
This shooting table is of the ‘folding chair’ design, the stand
folds completely flat in seconds and the acrylic shooting
surface simply clicks into position, making it ideal for
home studios and for when it needs to be stored
when not in use in professional studios.
The acrylic shooting surface is matt on one side and shiny
PRO008 on the other, allowing a choice of including semi
reflections of the product you’re photographing. Shooting
tables are normally used in conjunction with boom arms.
Dimensions: Total height 150cm. Height to base 50cm. Width 60cm.
Large Product Shooting Table
The Large Shooting Table is made from translucent heavy duty white
frosted acrylic, which can be lit from any angle, including lighting
from below and from the rear.
With a width of 1 metre, this professional shooting table is ideal for
shooting a vast range of products, and is invaluable where
either a difused specular reflection or underlighting
is required. A subtle reflection of the product can be
obtained if required.
Castors are fitted to the rear legs, to allow easy
movement around the studio, and the angle of the
PRO009
‘back’ can be adjusted.
This is a time saving product. If correctly lit, the product will need a minimum of
post processing.
Lencarta Intensive Studio Lighting Workshops
Lencarta is committed to helping people to get the best from their
studio lighting equipment and so provides a series of monthly
lighting workshops, each of which is hosted by a highly skilled
lighting expert.
Each of these lighting workshops is a real, hands-on learning
experience that is open to photographers of all levels, from
absolute
beginner to professional - and the feedback we receive from all of
the people who take part confirms that everyone who attends,
regardless of his or her level of experience, gains a great deal
from the experience!
Basically, the whole idea of these intensive lighting workshops
is to teach people exactly how light can be used to create
stunning results - they are really about how light can be used,
with the emphasis on creative lighting techniques and the
principles involved.
Lencarta Intensive Studio Lighting Workshops
72
There are plenty of books, videos and magazine articles available on lighting but relatively few appear to give correct,
useful information and most seem to involve little more than an explanation of how to obtain the same, bland results that
everyone else obtains - participating in one of our intensive lighting workshops will teach you a much better way of doing
it!
Everyone is encouraged to experiment and, at the same time, to work at his or her own pace.
The cost of these lighting workshops is subsidised by Lencarta .
