WhAt We Do<br />
The <strong>Caddie</strong> <strong>Scholarship</strong> <strong>Fund</strong>, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit<br />
organization, provides college scholarships to students with<br />
financial need who work in service to golf at Westchester Golf<br />
Association member clubs.<br />
oUr historY<br />
The <strong>WGA</strong> <strong>Caddie</strong> <strong>Scholarship</strong> <strong>Fund</strong> was established in 1956 by<br />
Willie P. Turnesa and Udo Reinach. With over 2,000 recipients<br />
since its founding, the <strong>Caddie</strong> <strong>Scholarship</strong> <strong>Fund</strong> has provided in<br />
excess of $9,000,000 in scholarship aid.<br />
oUr scholArshiPs<br />
The CSF is one of the largest organizations of its kind in the<br />
nation. <strong>Caddie</strong> scholarship awards range from $1,000 to $8,000<br />
per year for undergraduate study or for study at an accredited<br />
trade school. Maximum awards are reserved for exceptional<br />
students with exceptional need.<br />
eliGiBilitY<br />
Applicants must demonstrate financial need, have applied to<br />
or currently attend an accredited school, and have worked a<br />
minimum of two seasons in service to golf at a <strong>WGA</strong> member<br />
club. Service to golf includes caddying, golf course maintenance,<br />
and work in the pro shop, bag room or on the practice range.<br />
Club members and their children are not eligible to apply.<br />
fUNDiNG<br />
The CSF finances scholarship awards primarily through<br />
contributions from individuals, <strong>WGA</strong> member clubs, alumni,<br />
corporations, and foundations.<br />

BAG TAG PROGRAM<br />
Our major source of funding is through the Bag Tag Program.<br />
The purpose of the Program is to reach out for support from<br />
members of clubs belonging to the Westchester Golf Association.<br />
NAMED AND ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIPS<br />
Named and Endowed <strong>Scholarship</strong>s give donors an opportunity<br />
to celebrate their commitment to education and golf. These special<br />
scholarships provide an enduring legacy for individuals,<br />
families and organizations, or pay tribute to an individual or<br />
achievement.<br />

Each year we hold events such as our Pro Am and Golf Marathon<br />
to raise funds and increase awareness in the community.<br />

Dear Friends of the<br />
<strong>WGA</strong> <strong>Caddie</strong> <strong>Scholarship</strong> <strong>Fund</strong>,<br />
America is truly a country of generous<br />
spirit. Thousands of cultural, environmental,<br />
political, religious, social, compassionate and medical causes<br />
rely on our philanthropy. Through every form of media, TV,<br />
radio, internet, print, billboard and mail, we are being asked for<br />
monetary help.<br />
While not to the exclusion of other worthy causes, why do we<br />
support the <strong>WGA</strong> <strong>Caddie</strong> <strong>Scholarship</strong> <strong>Fund</strong>? Good question,<br />
one that we may ask ourselves every year.<br />
The reasons I support the <strong>WGA</strong> <strong>Caddie</strong> <strong>Scholarship</strong> <strong>Fund</strong> are<br />
fairly straight-forward:<br />
• The <strong>Fund</strong> supports the educational aspirations of young<br />
people. Education is the key to our success as a society and as a<br />
country. Education gives individuals the opportunity to succeed.<br />
• The <strong>Fund</strong> is local and it is personal. Among us, whether at our<br />
clubs or localities, we know the young people and families whose<br />
lives are helped though our college financial aid.<br />
• The <strong>Fund</strong> raises money through golf and, by extension, caddying.<br />
Arguably the best of all games, golf teaches critical life skills<br />
such as honesty, respect, confidence and responsibility.<br />
Since its founding in 1956, the <strong>Caddie</strong> <strong>Scholarship</strong> <strong>Fund</strong> has<br />
never turned away a student with financial need. Your commitment<br />
to our objective has allowed us to grant nearly $1,000,000<br />
in the current school year to 265 students. These students represent<br />
59 <strong>WGA</strong> member clubs and attend 140 colleges, universities<br />
or trade schools.<br />

Pro Am Golf Tournament<br />
The 31st annual <strong>WGA</strong> <strong>Caddie</strong> <strong>Scholarship</strong> <strong>Fund</strong> Pro Am Golf<br />
Tournament was held on June 11, 2012 at Sunningdale Country<br />
Club. The <strong>Fund</strong> is most grateful to the Board of Governors and<br />
members of Sunningdale for hosting the event. The day included<br />
golf, a luncheon buffet, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, and gifts<br />
for all participants, low pro and amateur team prizes. There were<br />
morning and afternoon shotgun starts. The tournament netted<br />
approximately $54,000 for the <strong>Fund</strong> to help support the current<br />
caddie scholars.<br />

The 37th Annual <strong>Caddie</strong> <strong>Scholarship</strong> <strong>Fund</strong> Alumni Reunion<br />
and Golf Outing was held on October 11, 2011 at Siwanoy<br />
Country Club. Alumni and friends came together for golf and<br />
dinner and reconnected about their experiences. Our 38th<br />
Annual Alumni Outing will be held on October 15, 2012 at<br />
Leewood Golf Club.<br />

Bobby “O” Golf Outing<br />
On August 13, 2012, a golf outing was held in honor of the late<br />
Robert A. (Bobby ‘O’) Ormond, the long-time caddie master<br />
at Knollwood Country Club. Almost two hundred golfers filled<br />
Knollwood and Metropolis Country Clubs in tribute. Even more<br />
attended the dinner and benefit auction afterwards. Over fifty individuals<br />
and organizations contributed auction and raffle prizes,<br />
and an equal number of organizations signed on as hole sponsors.<br />
In his thirty-eight years as caddie master at Knollwood Country<br />
Club, Bobby was a beloved mentor, father figure, and friend. He<br />
influenced the lives of literally thousands, and encouraged an<br />
unprecedented ninety of his caddies to become <strong>WGA</strong> <strong>Caddie</strong><br />
Scholars.<br />
The outing grossed over $100,000. All proceeds will be used<br />
to establish an endowed scholarship – the Bobby ‘O’ Ormond<br />
Memorial <strong>Scholarship</strong>, which will be granted in perpetuity to<br />
Knollwood caddies.<br />

EVENTS<br />
4th Annual CSF Golf Marathon<br />
The 2012 Golf Marathon was held on Monday, August 27th<br />
at Manhattan Woods Golf Club in West Nyack, N.Y. Participants<br />
included <strong>WGA</strong> caddie scholars, caddie masters, golf<br />
professionals and club members at Westchester, Connecticut and<br />
Rockland County clubs. The participants enlisted the support<br />
of friends, family and club members to benefit the CSF. Local<br />
businesses also supported their efforts by donating prizes for the<br />
most holes played and leading fundraisers. Playing from dawn<br />
until dusk, the thirty-six participants completed 2,030 holes.<br />
The leading scorers were CSF alumnus Andy Kruczkiewicz and<br />
former <strong>WGA</strong> intern Reid Title, who each played 130 holes. The<br />
longest drive winner was Luke Chavez of Greenwich Country<br />
Club.<br />
