Macrogol 3350 (Movicol) is licensed to<br />

treat faecal impaction and should be used<br />

to resolve this before giving rectal<br />

medication.<br />

Phosphate enemas should only be given<br />

as a last resort.<br />

Manual evacuation may be appropriate<br />

for patients with impaction.<br />
