<strong>Citizens</strong> & You: A recipe for success<br />

The 54th Annual Meeting of <strong>Citizens</strong> <strong>Telephone</strong> <strong>Cooperative</strong>, <strong>Inc</strong>. was held on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at St. Jude’s<br />

Catholic Church in New Auburn. Sir Arthur’s Court-tet provided entertainment prior to the meeting. The meeting<br />

was called to order by President Patricia North as she declared that a quorum was present. The minutes from last<br />

year’s meeting were read by Secretary Suzanne Perry and the reading and explanation of the financial report was<br />

given by Treasurer Veda Reed. Dennis Bachman, General Manager, introduced the employees, new products and<br />

services that are in process including Wi-Fi Hot Spots and our new Sony SnapLab that allows you to print quality<br />

photos. He also touched on the legislative issues that the Telecommunications industry is up against. Ballots<br />

received in the mail and at the meeting were counted for the election of new directors by the Credentials & Election<br />

Committee which consisted of Mary Ann Garza and Kathy Evenson. The results were: Donald Newman was<br />

re-elected for the Canton exchange and Wayne Olson was re-elected for the At-Large seat.<br />

Winning one free month of Local Service, given away during the meeting were: Robert Nelson, Richard Langman,<br />

Frances Wirth, John Rudin, Rena Gravunder, Wendy Lauterbach, Morris Plummer, Joan Wagner, Gerald Janke,<br />

Joyce Hewitt, Terry Olson, Margaret Olson, James Young, and Ray Wojtowicz. At the end of the meeting, 8 Grand<br />

Prizes were given away to the following winners: Madee Trowbridge - Wii (Children’s Prize); Loren Novak - Sony<br />

E-Reader; Samsung Blue-Ray - Joyce Schroeder; Juanita Reese - Vtech Cordless Phone; Don Boeger - Vtech<br />

Cordless Phone; Clayton Pedersen - Kodak Pulse Wi-Fi Picture Frame; Mary Ann Garza - Flip Camera; and<br />

Sylvester Berres - Compaq Laptop. Congratulations!!<br />

Following the adjournment of the meeting, the members enjoyed refreshments, bars, cheese, and crackers provided<br />

by the New Auburn FFA Alumni. Members received a Casserole Keeper and a recipe card at the door.

digging or excavating, please remember to contact Diggers Hotline no matter<br />

the location and marking of buried gas, power, and telephone lines.<br />

<strong>Citizens</strong> sponsors Youth..<br />

Nearly 100 Wisconsin and Minnesota high school students,<br />

including New Auburn students Larissa Hubbard, Sam McCormick,<br />

and Kelsey Bowe, attended the CO-OPS YES! Leadership Conference<br />

the beginning of March in Eau Claire.<br />

The conference was designed to help them gain a better understanding<br />

of the role and operation of cooperatives. They were also taught to<br />

develop leadership skills, discover a problem-solving process they<br />

can use, and adjust to the teen issues that they face.<br />

The conference included a session on maximizing students’ potential<br />

and participants also learned about credit unions, alternative energy<br />

sources, careers in agriculture and cooperatives.<br />

<strong>Citizens</strong> has sponsored students in attending this conference for the past 3 years.<br />
