Autonomous air-cooled direct expansion air<br />

conditioners, designed for installation on the<br />

outside wall of the air conditioned room. They are<br />

particularly suitable for air conditioning of prefabricated<br />

buildings, shelters and containers. The<br />

materials and construction of the units are<br />

designed for installation outdoors.<br />

The condenser is incorporated in the unit which<br />

is pre-charged and tested in the factory.<br />

Installation and connection to the power supply<br />

can be done by non-specialised staff.<br />

Units are designed to allow maintenance from<br />

the outside only, without needing access to the<br />

air conditioned room. All essential components,<br />

including the condenser fan, can be inspected<br />

and removed from the front of the unit. In multiple<br />

installations the units can therefore be installed<br />

side by side.<br />

GENERAL DESCRIPTION<br />

SELF-SUPPORTING CABINET in galvanised<br />

steel complete with flange for fixing to the<br />

external wall of the air conditioned room.<br />

EXTERNAL PANELS in 1.2 mm steel painted<br />

with epoxy powder and lined with scratchresistant<br />

self-extinguishing sound absorbing<br />

insulating material.<br />

ANTI-TAMPER SCREWS to protect against<br />

unauthorised access to the internal components<br />

of the unit.<br />

FILTER in self-extinguishing material with EU2<br />

efficiency (Eurovent 4-5) fitted in rigid metal<br />

cage.<br />

Double inlet CENTRIFUGAL FAN(S) in<br />

galvanised steel with forward-angled blades<br />

keyed directly to the motor shaft.<br />

The free cooling cycle consists of the introduction<br />

into the environment of external air when this is<br />

sufficiently cold to absorb the thermal load of the<br />

environment.<br />

The unit is fitted with a butterfly grille and two air<br />

intakes:<br />

• recycled air intake (on right hand diagram);<br />

• external air intake (on left hand diagram);<br />

A. NORMAL FUNCTIONING (Fig. a)<br />

During normal functioning, the damper is<br />

positioned to take in only air from the conditioned<br />

environment (grey arrow on the right), closing the<br />

external air intake.<br />

The air taken in is sent by the fan towards the<br />

cooling coil and then re-introduced into the<br />

COOLING COIL with large frontal area<br />

manufactured in copper tubing mechanically<br />

expanded into aluminium fins, with stainless<br />

steel tray and flexible tube for condensate drain.<br />

ELECTRICAL RE-HEAT (...TW versions) for<br />

maintaining ambient temperature in the absence<br />

of thermal load; finned aluminium elements with<br />

safety thermostat to cut off the power supply and<br />

activate the alarm in the event of overheating.<br />

ELECTRICAL PANEL housed in a compartment<br />

isolated from the airflow and which conforms to<br />

norm 73/23/CEE with<br />

• auxiliary 24V transformer<br />

• mains switch<br />

• magnetothermal protection<br />

• contactors<br />

HERMETIC SCROLL COMPRESSORS<br />

(rotating in the smallest model): high energy<br />

efficiency, low noise operation and built-in<br />

thermal protection.<br />

REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT including:<br />

• filter and flow sight glass<br />

• thermostatic expansion valve<br />

• high- and low-pressure pressostats (with<br />

manual reset)<br />

mPW CONTROL MICROPROCESSORS; this<br />

control, standard on version F, includes ambient,<br />

external and mixed temperature sensors (see<br />

relative specifications).<br />

FREE-COOLING SYSTEM (only in <strong>WMF</strong><br />

version). See description below.<br />

CONDENSER FAN CONTROL: on/off type<br />

OPTIONAL ACCESSORIES<br />

FREE COOLING MECHANISM (only on <strong>WMF</strong> version)<br />

environment. Cooling is via the cooling cycle<br />

(starting the compressor) and commanded by the<br />

thermostat.<br />

B. FREE COOLING (Fig. b)<br />

As soon as the external air is of a low enough<br />

temperature to maintain the temperature in the<br />

environment at the desired level, the damper<br />

changes position, taking in and discharging into<br />

the environment external air instead of recycled.<br />

The discharging of air (obviously in the same<br />

quantities as that taken in) is via a vent, opened<br />

by the damper, between the recycled air intake<br />

and the outside (see fig. B below left)<br />

During free cooling function, the compressor is<br />

off.<br />

the dehumidification cycle.<br />

CONDENSER FAN VARIABLE-SPEED<br />

CONTROL with:<br />

• thermostatic sensor for versions with freecooling<br />

cycle and optional mPW<br />

microprocessor control<br />

• pressostatic sensor for all other versions, for<br />

external temperatures down to -20°C.<br />

HOT GAS RE-HEAT for controlling ambient<br />

temperature during the de-humidification phase<br />

with low sensible load without using the electrical<br />

re-heat., thereby reducing installed power and<br />

energy consumption. This device is not available<br />

on size WM*0121.<br />

INTAKE AND DISCHARGE GRILLE FOR<br />

DISTRIBUTION OF AIR IN THE<br />

ENVIRONMENT with two rows of slats.<br />

FRESH AIR INTAKE with metal pre-filter and<br />

grille to regulate the quantity of air intake<br />

(included with free-cooling units).<br />

BLOCKED FILTER ALARM SENSOR<br />

consisting of a dirty filter control pressostat<br />

ELECTRICAL POWER FACTOR<br />

CORRECTION CONDENSERS for maintaining<br />

the electrical power factor (cos. ϕ) over 0,9.<br />

CLOCK BOARD for the management of time<br />

and date events<br />

RS422 SERIAL OUTPUT for the transmission of<br />

data to a centralised supervision system<br />

DOUBLE ELECTRICAL POWER SUPPLY for<br />

normal function with mains power and<br />

emergency UPS for the fan and the opening of<br />

the external air vent.<br />

C. MODULATED FUNCTION (fig. c)<br />

When the external temperature falls further, the<br />

introduction of 100% external air would cause<br />

excessive cooling.<br />

The control system therefore changes the<br />

position of the damper to mix external and<br />

recycled air to maintain the temperature in the<br />

environment at the required level.<br />

In any case, the temperature of the air taken in is<br />

maintained above a pre-set minimum.<br />

MINIMUM QUANTITY OF FRESH AIR<br />

It is possible to pre-set a minimum opening<br />

position on the damper to allow the taking in of a<br />

proportion of fresh air in any operating mode.<br />
