Young achievers in the electrical industry were given the opportunity<br />
to unlock their full potential at a Powerbase sponsored Outward<br />
Bound course held in Anakiwa recently.<br />
Powerbase has joined forces with New Zealand’s leading outdoor<br />
education provider - Outward Bound - to create an eight day course<br />
for 14 young people aged 20-30 years called POWERBASE EDGE<br />
which is designed to develop emerging talent.<br />
ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL POWERBASE PROmOTION<br />
GAME FISH BONANZA!<br />
Over 50 Powerbase customers and staff enjoyed two fantastic<br />
days big game fishing in the Bay of Islands recently.<br />
All participants were either winners or guests hosted by members<br />
in the Great Kiwi Game Fishing promotion run in MARKETPLACE,<br />
and a national event developed exclusively by Powerbase and<br />
supported by General Cable NZ <strong>Ltd</strong>.<br />
The Bay of Islands lived up to its reputation as the game fishing<br />
capital of the world. The weather was kind and the fish turned up<br />

industry participants where they spent an action<br />
packed eight days learning a variety of skills to<br />
increase their effectiveness in the workplace. Activities ranged from<br />
tramping, rock climbing and kayaking to developing their decisionmaking<br />
and problem solving skills by encouraging participants to<br />
step outside their comfort zones.<br />
“We’re looking to identify and encourage young and emerging<br />
talent in our local electrical industry. Candidates on the course<br />
have been hand-picked by Powerbase members and are a selection<br />
of Powerbase customers and member employees. As a leader in<br />
the electrical industry, Powerbase is<br />
committed to helping grow our young<br />
leaders,” said chairman, Phil Badger.<br />
with the season’s two biggest striped marlin landed with another<br />
eight marlin and three shark tagged and released.<br />
The BOI Swordfish Club provided all the practical support for the<br />
Powerbase competition including the prizegiving dinner event.<br />
The competition was run strictly to NZSF/IGFA guidelines as per<br />
rules for the 2012 NZSF National.<br />
