CHILD USE AND SAFETY
Growing concern for child safety has lead many states
to pass laws making it mandatory for EMS providers
to have available a federally-approved child restraint
system at all times in emergency vehicles. The
HiBAC Safety seat is specifically designed for installation
in ambulances and rescue vehicles assuring
the convenient and safe transportation of uninjured
children as well as the EMT.
The Hi-BAC Safety Seat incorporates
the Hassel Free ® Child
Restraint, the first “built-in”
child restraint produced the
United States.
The built-in Hassel Free ® Child
Restraint and Hi-BAC Safety Seat
have been designed and tested
only for rear-facing use by children
that weight between 20 and 50
pounds and are 28 to 47 inches
in height and capable of sitting
upright alone. Children less than 1
year old, or those under the weight,
height or capability requirements
must use an infant seat. The Hassel
Free ® child restraint is not intended
for infant use.
Children that exceed the weight
and height requirements should
not sue the child restraint. Instead,
stow away the child restraint and
use the Hi-BAC Safety Seat with
the vehicle’s safety belt system.
The Hi-Bac Safety seat meets
or exceeds all applicable Federal
Safety Standards (FMVSS) and
Triple “K” specifications for
ambulances in effect at the date of
manufacture.
To assure the safety of those
persons being transported in the
Hi-BAC Safety Seat, the EMS
provider should develop a policy
for the proper use and
maintenance of this product.
