The <strong>Glen</strong> <strong>Ellyn</strong> <strong>Public</strong><br />

<strong>Library</strong> is pleased to<br />

announce the opening of a<br />

new exhibition, Lincoln: The<br />

Constitution and the Civil<br />

War on Saturday, April 27.<br />

Based upon an original<br />

interactive exhibit developed<br />

by the National Constitution<br />

Center, this traveling version<br />

explores Lincoln’s struggle<br />

to resolve the contested<br />

issues dividing Americans at<br />

the most perilous moment in<br />

our nation’s history.<br />

This traveling exhibition<br />

comprises informative<br />

panels featuring<br />

photographic reproductions<br />

of original documents, including a draft of Lincoln’s fi rst<br />

inaugural speech, the Emancipation Proclamation, and the<br />

Thirteenth Amendment.<br />

Special advanced previews begin April 17.<br />

Celebrate the grand opening of our Lincoln: The Constitution and<br />

the Civil War exhibit. Guests will meet Abraham Lincoln and listen<br />

to his inaugural address, hear live performances of Civil War era<br />

music, learn about the <strong>Glen</strong> <strong>Ellyn</strong> community’s involvement with<br />

the Underground Railroad, and much more!<br />

women including Jennie Hodgers, who disguised herself as a male<br />

Film critic Brian Tallerico discusses Lincoln’s historical<br />

accuracy. Tallerico, a member of the Board of Directors for the<br />

Chicago Film Critics Association, serves as content director for<br />

hollywoodchicago.com and appears weekly on WGN-AM 720.<br />

Tallerico will show several clips from the fi lm, discuss the history<br />

behind the events, and take questions from the audience.<br />

Our Lady of the Angels Fire*<br />

Thursday, March 7 7-8:30 pm <br />

On December 1, 1958, one of the worst fi res in American history<br />

engulfed the Our Lady of the Angels School in Chicago, killing 92<br />

children and three nuns. Local historian Jim Gibbons tells the story<br />

of those who lost their lives during that unforgettable fi re.<br />

Beginning Guitar Class: Phase 2*<br />

Mondays, March 11 through May 6 (skip March 25) 7-8 pm <br />

Your quest to strum a telecaster like Bruce <strong>Spring</strong>steen continues<br />

during phase 2 of the Beginning Guitar Class. Aspiring rock stars<br />

must possess a basic knowledge of how to play, including simple<br />

chords. This class is designed to expand a guitar player’s skills<br />

including new chords, strumming techniques, and music styles.<br />

free 3D modeling software and GEPL’s new 3D printer. No<br />

prior experience required, just creativity. For grades 4-8.<br />

Middle School Students! Enjoy an afternoon of iPad apps,<br />

XBOX 360 games, and Nintendo Wii games, including Angry<br />

Birds and Temple Run. We'll play the games on the library's<br />

wall-size projection screen and feast on delicious snacks and<br />

How to be a Ghost Hunter*<br />

You’ve seen ghost hunting shows on television, now meet a<br />

real ghost hunter in person! Join Gene Davis from Ghost<br />

Paranormal Service as he shares his ghost hunting<br />

experience and teaches how to use ghost hunting<br />

equipment. For grades 4-8.<br />
