Getting Excited About Science*<br />

Steve Belliveau conducts fun and educational science<br />

demonstrations jam-packed with humor, music, and audience<br />

participation. He'll enthrall with various scientifi c concepts including:<br />

magnetism, electricity, friction, chemistry, simple machines, and the<br />

conservation of energy.<br />

Chess Club*<br />

Thursday, March 14 7-8 pm <br />

Local USCF Postal Master Jim Egerton will teach you a few moves<br />

and pointers. Please bring your own chess set. All ages and<br />

parents welcome.<br />

1st + 2nd + 3rd Grade Pony Express Party*<br />

Monday, March 18 4-5 pm <br />

Wednesday, March 20 6:30-7:30 pm <br />

Saddle up and head over to the Youth Program Room to play<br />

games, make crafts, watch a short movie, and share facts about the<br />

Pony Express and horses. Related books will be available for<br />

checkout beginning March 1st.<br />

Family Gaming Day<br />

Wednesday, March 27 Noon-4 pm <br />

Enjoy a day of gaming with family and friends. Play Xbox Kinect,<br />

Nintendo Wii, or iPad apps on the big screen or relax with board<br />

games. All ages are invited to drop in for an afternoon of fun<br />

gaming.<br />

Open Chess Playoff with Jim Egerton at Wheaton<br />

<strong>Public</strong> <strong>Library</strong>*<br />

Wheaton <strong>Public</strong> <strong>Library</strong>, 225 N. Cross Street<br />

All <strong>Glen</strong> <strong>Ellyn</strong> and Wheaton area chess buffs in grades 2 through 8<br />

are invited to participate in an exciting chess playoff. Test your<br />

strategy, learn sportsmanship, and meet new friends! Players will<br />

be grouped by age and will play three twenty-minute matches, each<br />

in a round-robin format against opponents from Wheaton.<br />

Puppet Mini-Meltdown*<br />

Puppet Mini-Meltdown is a collection of short and diverse puppet<br />

pieces designed to delight and surprise audiences of all ages.<br />

These miniature shows, performed both live and in fi lm formats,<br />

showcase a wide variety of puppet styles, techniques, and stories.<br />

3D Printing Fab Lab*<br />

Tuesdays and Wednesdays, March 5 & 6 and April 23 & 24<br />

4-6 pm <br />

Create toys, jewelry, or anything else you can imagine with<br />

free 3D modeling software and GEPL’s new 3D printer. No<br />

prior experience required, just creativity. For grades 4-8.<br />

Snacks, iPads, and Pizza<br />

Friday, March 22 & April 19 Noon-3:30 pm <br />

Middle School Students! Enjoy an afternoon of iPad apps,<br />

XBOX 360 games, and Nintendo Wii games, including Angry<br />

Birds and Temple Run. We'll play the games on the library's<br />

wall-size projection screen and feast on delicious snacks and<br />

pizza.<br />

How to be a Ghost Hunter*<br />

Thursday, April 4 6:30-8:30 pm <br />

You’ve seen ghost hunting shows on television, now meet a<br />

real ghost hunter in person! Join Gene Davis from Ghost<br />

Paranormal Service as he shares his ghost hunting<br />

experience and teaches how to use ghost hunting<br />

equipment. For grades 4-8.<br />
