2012 STUDENT FUNDRAISER
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Last Friday Archbishop Riordan High School launched its annual Student Fundraiser.
Like last year's fundraiser it will take the form of a 5K Walkathon on campus,
Wednesday, October 31st.
Traditionally, the student fundraiser supports improvements to the school. This year,
drawing on the theme to Educate in the Family Spirit, we have broadened our reach.
Proceeds from the student fundraiser will primarily support the installation of a new turf
field at ARHS, and a portion will support cancer research in honor of long-time ARHS
employee Candy McDonald who passed away last spring.
At last year's student fundraiser, $58,000 was raised for the school, and we are hoping
to exceed that amount this year. Seventy percent of the student body participated, and
this year our goal is 100%. We ask that at a minimum each student raise $200.
This is a student-driven fundraiser, but we ask that you support your son in his
outreach. Encourage him to approach family, friends, neighbors, local merchants,
community members, etc. to sponsor his participation in the Walkathon. We think this is
a good opportunity for our students to practice speaking about Riordan and why others
should support them in their efforts. It's a skill they will have for life.
