Distribution: The species frigida is Holarctic; <strong>the</strong> subspecies H.f. intercepta (O. P.-Cambridge) occurs<br />
in Alaska and <strong>Yukon</strong>, and in Siberia (Eskov 1981).<br />
<strong>Yukon</strong> records: North Fork Pass, Ogilvie Mts.; km 140.5, 172, and 465 Dempster Hwy.; Dall Ridge<br />
Valley to Fish Cr. (67°59′N 136°32′W); June Cr., near Firth R. (69°13′N 140°05′W); Erebia Cr., on<br />

Taxonomic notes: Eskov (1981) showed that H. mentasta does not belong in <strong>the</strong> genus Hilaira but did<br />
not place it elsewhere. Chamberlin and Ivie (1947) described it in “Erigone”, also incorrect.<br />

Subarctic/Alpine<br />
Distribution: Alaska to nor<strong>the</strong>rn Quebec, south to Colorado; nor<strong>the</strong>astern Siberia (Eskov 1981). The<br />
species tatrica occurs in Palaearctic and Nearctic, <strong>the</strong> subspecies t. garrina Chamberlin is Nearctic.<br />
<strong>Yukon</strong> records: Moose Cr. (63°31′N 137°01′W); Sheep-Bullion Plateau, Kluane National Park.<br />
<strong>Biological</strong> information: In litter in conifer and willow stands.<br />
104. Hilaira vexatrix (O. P.-Cambridge) Nearctic-West Beringian, Arctic<br />
Distribution: Alaska to Greenland; nor<strong>the</strong>astern Siberia (Eskov 1981).<br />

Distribution: <strong>Yukon</strong> to Labrador, south to British Columbia and nor<strong>the</strong>rn New England.<br />
<strong>Yukon</strong> records: km 64 Dempster Hwy.; Old Crow; June Cr. delta (69°09′N 140°10′W).<br />
<strong>Biological</strong> information: In litter in willow clumps and on tundra, and in limestone outcrops.
