TERESA LAIZ
Teresa Laiz, born in Madrid (1966), starts her artistic training when she was 6 years old learning Classical
Ballet and then she studied Flamenco, Spanish Classical Dancing, Traditional and Popular Dancing, S.XVIII
Dancing, Ballroom, Contemporary Dancing, Country, Oriental Dancing and Theatre. She received classes
from great artist as Ana Mercedes, Victor Ullate, Gloria and Rafael de Córdova, Candela Soto, Raquel
Quijano, Meritxell Cardellach, La Tani, El Farruquito, José de Udaeta, José Luis Landry, Belén Cabanes, Juan
Carlos Lérida, Olga Cobos and Belén Maya; shares stage with artists as Adrian Galia and has got renowned
students as the Baroness Thyssen. She also studied Solfa, Castanets, Piano and Flamenco Percussion, has
being a member of the Complutense University Chorus, model in "Broadway, Models & Artists" agency and
for the catalan artistic painter Ramón Gutiérrez. Paralell to her artistic training, she has got an English Filology
degree from the Complutense University in Madrid (1984/85-1988/89), where afterwards worked as a teacher
during several years as well as in the Turism School of the Girona University. She has also studied a Staff
Management Master, the Doctorate courses and has got the researching competence title.
Her professional experience has been centred mainly in Spanish and Flamenco dance; she has been part of
different groups: Grupo de Danza Española "Contrastes", Ballet Español de "Irene Zambra" (Avila), Cuadro
Flamenco de "Paco de Málaga", Cuarteto Flamenco del "Alonso Cano", Compañía Flamenca “Rosa Mª
Maya”, Ballet Español "Danza y Tronío", "Grupo Universitario de Danza Española", "Andalucía Baila en
Verso”, Compañía "Rumbo Flamenco", “Terrània Dansa” y Grupo de Baile “SET Flamenco”; she also takes
part in a great number of shows in Cultural Centres in Madrid (Luchana, Junta Municipal de Vicálvaro,
Vallecas, Cultural Association L.Boccherini and Casa de la Cultura de Boadilla del Monte, El Escorial, El
Pardo, Alcalá de Henares, etc.), in public festivities in Avila and Madrid (Navalperal, Piedrahita, Hoyo de
Manzanares, Alpedrete, Colmenar Viejo, Arganda del Rey, Moralzarzal, Zarzalejo, etc.), also in different
theatres in Avila (Teatro Avenida, Teatro Caja de Avila), Italia (Teatro Politeama Greco (Lecce): Opera
"Carmen" de Bizet), Madrid (Sala Paraninfo de la Facultad de Filología de la U.C.M.).

Grupo de Flamenco de Nou Espiral - 22 June 2003), Teatro del Casino de Vidreres (29 June 2003), Plaza de la
Iglesia de St. Antoni de Calonge (Ayto. Calonge - 24 July 2003), Pub Sol de Nit de Palafrugell (with Rumbo
Flamenco - 15 August 2003), Plaza de la Iglesia de St. Antoni de Calonge (Ayto. Calonge - 28 August 2003),
Taller d’Arts Plàstiques (St. Feliu de Guíxols - 28 September 2003). On October the 19th of 2003 she retakes
her facet of performer which began in 1999 with the group “Andalucía baila en verso” performing with dance
recited poetry. This time the project of collaboration with the “Grup Teatral Vidrerenc” was more ambicious.
Teresa Laiz performing through the dance and the artistic-theatral expression the recited poems of Federico
