Programme Criteria
In order to be eligible for the program you need to meet following criteria
1. Be currently enrolled in a course relevant to the position being requested
2. Be within 12 months of having completed a course relevant to the position being requested
3. Must be friendly, outgoing, engaging, positive professional with a strong work ethic
4. Must be able to commit to a 6 month internship which can be in Front Office, Food & Beverage or Culinary
5. Must hold a South African passport and provide a clear police clearance certificate
6. Must be between the ages of 19-30 years old

What an internship in the United Kingdom entails:
This program allows one to gain firsthand experience within the hospitality industry. What better way to
experience this culturally rich country, with a deep seated history and modern marvels whilst training AND
earning POUNDS at the same time.
Employers will expect you to work hard, be professional at all times, master the set standards and ensure that
their guests have a memorable experience!
Trainees would rotate across multiple positions in the department gaining invaluable experience and at the
same time being exposed to the high standards of the particular resort or hotel. The trainee would also see
how separate departments have interdependence on one another.
Practical training may include following departments:
Front desk
Concierge
Valet
Belldesk
Reservations
Uniformed services
Trainees will be given the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the food and beverage service operation
within a restaurant/hotel. Trainees will be exposed to the daily operations within the food service industry,
while performing their practical training assignments. Whilst at the same time gaining an insider’s view of a
how a restaurant/resort’s Food & Beverage operates successfully.
Practical training may include:
Server attendant
Food service
Casual and fine dining
Banquet/catering set-up and service
Food runner
Host/hostess
In-room dining
Front of House

Trainee will be exposed to the inner workings of a restaurant/hotels culinary department as well as learning the
set established standards and quality. Training will be overseen by an Executive chef who will play a key role in
your training and development. Trainee will be exposed to various sections of the kitchen.
Practical training may include:
Garde Manger
Saucier
Banquet production
Line cook
Hot and Cold Kitchen
Program registration fee: R750

Housing
Most of the employers we work with provide staff housing which is conveniently located. Should your
employer not provide housing Awesome Travel will source convenient housing for you.
All applicants are expected to attend an orientation upon arrival at BUNAC’s London office. This is where
you will be assisted with applying for your national tax number as well as opening up a bank account.
Spending Money
When arriving in the UK participants are required to have a minimum of £800 which may need to be
produced for the British Immigration Officer upon arrival in the UK. This spending money is necessary to
cover expenses like housing and travel to your work site before your first salary payment.
