Programme Criteria<br />

In order to be eligible for the program you need to meet follow<strong>in</strong>g criteria<br />

1. Be currently enrolled <strong>in</strong> a course relevant to the position be<strong>in</strong>g requested<br />

2. Be with<strong>in</strong> 12 months of hav<strong>in</strong>g completed a course relevant to the position be<strong>in</strong>g requested<br />

3. Must be friendly, outgo<strong>in</strong>g, engag<strong>in</strong>g, positive professional with a strong work ethic<br />

4. Must be able to commit to a 6 month <strong>in</strong>ternship which can be <strong>in</strong> Front Office, Food & Beverage or Cul<strong>in</strong>ary<br />

5. Must hold a South African passport and provide a clear police clearance certificate<br />

6. Must be between the ages of 19-30 years old<br />

What an <strong>in</strong>ternship <strong>in</strong> the United K<strong>in</strong>gdom entails:<br />

This program allows one to ga<strong>in</strong> firsthand experience with<strong>in</strong> the hospitality <strong>in</strong>dustry. What better way to<br />

experience this culturally rich country, with a deep seated history and modern marvels whilst tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g AND<br />

earn<strong>in</strong>g POUNDS at the same time.<br />

Employers will expect you to work hard, be professional at all times, master the set standards and ensure that<br />

their guests have a memorable experience!<br />

Tra<strong>in</strong>ees would rotate across multiple positions <strong>in</strong> the department ga<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>valuable experience and at the<br />

same time be<strong>in</strong>g exposed to the high standards of the particular resort or hotel. The tra<strong>in</strong>ee would also see<br />

how separate departments have <strong>in</strong>terdependence on one another.<br />

Tra<strong>in</strong>ees will be given the opportunity to ga<strong>in</strong> hands-on experience <strong>in</strong> the food and beverage service operation<br />

with<strong>in</strong> a restaurant/hotel. Tra<strong>in</strong>ees will be exposed to the daily operations with<strong>in</strong> the food service <strong>in</strong>dustry,<br />

while perform<strong>in</strong>g their practical tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g assignments. Whilst at the same time ga<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g an <strong>in</strong>sider’s view of a<br />

how a restaurant/resort’s Food & Beverage operates successfully.<br />

Tra<strong>in</strong>ee will be exposed to the <strong>in</strong>ner work<strong>in</strong>gs of a restaurant/hotels cul<strong>in</strong>ary department as well as learn<strong>in</strong>g the<br />

set established standards and quality. Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g will be overseen by an Executive chef who will play a key role <strong>in</strong><br />

your tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g and development. Tra<strong>in</strong>ee will be exposed to various sections of the kitchen.<br />

Hous<strong>in</strong>g<br />

Most of the employers we work with provide staff hous<strong>in</strong>g which is conveniently located. Should your<br />

employer not provide hous<strong>in</strong>g <strong>Awesome</strong> <strong>Travel</strong> will source convenient hous<strong>in</strong>g for you.<br />

All applicants are expected to attend an orientation upon arrival at BUNAC’s London office. This is where<br />

you will be assisted with apply<strong>in</strong>g for your national tax number as well as open<strong>in</strong>g up a bank account.<br />

Spend<strong>in</strong>g Money<br />

When arriv<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the UK participants are required to have a m<strong>in</strong>imum of £800 which may need to be<br />

produced for the British Immigration Officer upon arrival <strong>in</strong> the UK. This spend<strong>in</strong>g money is necessary to<br />

cover expenses like hous<strong>in</strong>g and travel to your work site before your first salary payment.<br />
