I am a huge Sprignsteen
fan and this sums up
The Boss for me. Great
narrative and even better
sax solo by Clarence Clemons.
Almost chose 'No Surrender',
my second favourite.
This track brings back vivid memories
of my childhood family holidays,
the annual 8 hour drive to
Cornwall and putting up tents in
the dark. Still enjoyed it though!
Mr Brightside
the killers
This reminds me of my enjoyable
years at Thomson Holidays. New in
London, I met many wonderful friends
there (a lot are now dotted around
the travel industry) and so began my
career in travel.
This is one of the first songs I learned
to play on the guitar in my early teens.
I wanted to be in a band so I got my
dad to teach me how to play. Still love
this song even if it is about murder.
sYMPAthY For the devil
the rolling stones
Who doesn't love The Stones? I love
the menace of this song. It also
reminds me of my wife-to-be
because of our on-going debate
about the best Stones song.
This was the B side to Don't
Look Back in Anger and a great
cover of the Slade original. I love
the energy. This song became the
sound track to my first year at university
when Oasis sat at the top of the tree.
I will forever love New York and this
is a great adopted anthem for the
city. The track reminds me of having
fun there with Liv (the wife-to-be!)
and running the New York marathon.
suPerstition
This is an iconic party tune, reminds
me of all of my friends' weddings
that I've been to and having a ball
Book
I read a lot so this is probably a more
difficult choice than the songs. I'll go
for the complete works of Shakespeare.
That should keep me going for a while.
