Delegates enjoyed two days of business sessions, with highlights including travel industry heavyweights taking to the stage; Ben Schott’s illuminating presentation on the ‘infantalisation’ of air travel; Nick Wheeler of Charles Tyrwhitt shirts announcing that going bankrupt in the ‘80s was ‘slightly annoying’, and a frank and open interview with the wife of the Speaker of the House of Commons, Sally Bercow – which saw much press coverage away from the travel pages! The Conference opened in true Bajan style with the catering themed around the island’s most famous eateries. The following evening delegates were treated to a genuine taste of Caribbean culture when they were entertained by Bajan dancers showcasing Barbados’s roots and rhythms – now we know where Rhianna got her moves from!
