+++ PREFACE +++
Dear readers,
Rhythm of time
Time is no tear-off calendar but
running, a constant wave motion.
He who swims in the ocean will
survive there without effort for
a long time if he succeeds in fitting
in the rhythm of waves. And
he will be at the end of his tether
if he does not succeed. So let us
look for the rhythm of our time
that gives us as much freedom
as possible, even in times of silence
(according to Jörg Zink).
Christmas time is often a time of
silence. Join in and find the right
rhythm – so that you can enjoy
particularly this time so that this
quite bustling time helps to turn
the silence even into recreation.
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas
and a blessed New Year
2009 I remain
Yours Klaus Neumann
NEW: THE EXPERT-TEAMS
New expert service for our customers
In December 2008 CCL Label Holzkirchen
introduces a team of experts that should
help to improve the quality of their
customer service.
A contact person for every department in
the company will be available then.
CCL INDUSTRIES GROWS
Even in 2008 the group continues to develop
The mission of CCL Industries is to be the
world’s leading supplier of innovative and
premium packaging, promotional campaigns
and label solutions for the biggest
manufacturers of consumer products in
the world. Even in 2008 this misson was
continuously pursued. 56 plants in 17
countries and 5,500 employees represent
CCL on every continent – at least with
a sales office.
2008 started with the incorporation of
CD-Design, Solingen, Germany into the
CCL group. The company develops and
designs decorative ideas on customer request.
The product portfolio comprises,
amongst others, decorative plates and
strips, protective films and illuminated
protector plates. In April 2008 CCL made
THE SEVERAL GROUPS:
some acquisitions in Australia in order to
meet the requirements of the wine label
market. The acquired companies in Sydney
and Barossa can offer the complete
range of printing and converting methods.
In order to handle the home and personal
care market in Russia, CCL concluded a
joint venture with CCL focus. These two
plants are situated in Moscow and Saint
Petersburg.
Investments in new production facilities
were also made in Poland, China and
Thailand. The plants in Paris and Mexico
City moved to their new premises in 2008.
Therewith, the CCL Industries group continues
to be on their way to success, which
will surely be pursued in the years to come.
Modified cardboard boxes for transporting labels
At the beginning of December 2008 the quality of the transport cardboard boxes
was improved. The existing brown blank cardboard boxes were replaced by
white boxes with CCL logo. Thus, a higher puncture and edge crush resistance
was ensured. All measures and the labelling of the cardboard boxes remain, however,
unchanged.
In the transition time it may be possible that customers receive brown and white
boxes on one pallet as long as we still have labels on stock that have already been
packed in the existing cardboard boxes.
NEW
PROSWEETS 2009
CCL Label presents solutions for the confectionery market
From 1 to 4 February 2009 it is finally time
in Cologne again: The ProSweets opens
its gates on the occasion of the international
Sweets Trade Fair. It offers an
independent communication and business
platform, notably for the manufacturers
of the confectionary industry. Suppliers
present their innovations and trends in a
fair hall.
Again CCL Label Holzkirchen will participate
as an exhibitor there. As in 2007, skupindesign
will be responsible for the optical
concept of the booth. Already from a distance
visitors can see the CCL logo that
will lead them to the booth.
Optical redesign of the bath line
Who does not know the classic
bubble bath Badedas. Being a
comfortable alternative it replaced
the soap already in the fifties. And
it was path-breaking for the trend
that is described as wellness nowadays.
The continuous success,
particularly with the mainly male
target group aged 35-some,
proves that this classic bubble bath
is up to date.
On the printed semitransparent
side walls the CCL products are
presented. Sealing labels used
at the premium cardboard
packaging for ice cream, inpack
promotions or multipack
labels and wet tattoos
are some of the applications to
be exhibited.
Already now the CCL Label
team is looking forward to
welcoming the potential customers
at their booth and
having interesting conversations
with them.
COLD EMBOSSING
Reichsgraf von Plettenberg changes to cold embossing
“Reichsgraf von Plettenberg“ is a direct
sales company for selected wine, champagne
and spirits. This year a collection
of wine named „European churches
and cathedrals“ was ordered. It
consists of eight different motifs
in total. One of them shows the
Church of Our Lady in Dresden.
CCL Label took over the technical
implementation and finished
the label in cold embossing
for the first time.
BADEDAS – THE CLASSIC
BUBBLE BATH
Now Badedas was redesigned and got a new optical appearance.
The bottle, which has been dark green so far, is transparent
now. It is decorated with a label in no label look. Thus,
you may have a direct look at the intensively green content. CCL
Label GmbH produced the self-adhesive label in combi white
screen and flexo printing.
A pleasant scent of spruce needles and horse chestnuts essence
characterizes the “Vital Classic“ bath. In December 2008 the
new sorts “Sleep Easy“ with soothing lavender and “Body
Relax” with natural minerals are released on the Dutch market.
hall 10.1,
booth G/058
Many advantages support the application of
COLD EMBOSSING:
• no optical difference between cold embossing and
hot-foil stamping
• tool costs are lower
• applicable for small runs with a great variety of products
• set-up time reduced by 50%
• higher printing capacity
• application in combination with all printing methods
