prestigious public and private sector projects in the UK and overseas, ranging from 

the award-winning reconstruction of Kensington High Street to the stunning new 

development of Dubai. We specialise in co-ordinated systems: families of lighting, 

signs, seats, bollards and other street furniture sharing common design themes 

and materials. Our philosophy is to help reduce street clutter and create visual links 

between public spaces. With extensive experience of project specific design, we

Most urban road junctions are blighted with the same highway engineering 

phenomenon: street clutter. A confusion of traffic signals, street lighting, regulatory 

signs, guardrails, and finger posts, all competing for the same limited pedestrian 

space. Specifically designed to overcome this problem, GEO is a contemporary, 

fully co-ordinated lighting and street furniture system, with simple unobtrusive

Constrained budgets and the lack of availability of suitable products usually 

force infrastructure managers to select lighting, shelters, signs and other necessary 

furniture from a variety of unrelated catalogues. The resulting chaos of styles 

and materials is all too evident, and led Woodhouse to introduce the Motis system. 

Woodhouse developed Motis to create high quality facilities from a set of 

standard components. Although primarily intended for public transport applications, 

the products can be successfully used in conventional street applications.

Some projects will require a bespoke approach and Woodhouse offer practical advice 

to help turn clients’ concepts into functioning and economic realities. We have had 

long experience of custom products, and will give advice about design feasibility, 

the choice of materials and production processes, and early indications of likely costs. 

The company will handle the project all the way through to completion, including 

shop drawings, manufacturing and finishing, and an installation service, working 

closely with the client’s design team at all stages.

Between them, companies in the Marshalls group manufacture virtually 

everything needed for hard landscaping schemes of the highest quality. Marshalls 

has established a new business, Woodhouse Projects, to help designers bring those 

products together, by creating a catalogue of paving, drainage systems, exterior 

lighting and street furniture. WP will help ensure that the various elements both 

look right and physically fit together on site. Difficult details are handled in the 

factory (for example, circular shapes accurately water-jet cut into pavers to ensure 

they will fit neatly round the lighting column) avoiding complex, inaccurate and 

often unsafe hand-tool work on site. 

Qualified staff at WP are available to support landscape designers and contractors 

with detailed layout drawings, and the company will ensure that products from the 

group are delivered to site at the right time and in the right sequence. There is no 

charge for the service when Marshalls group products are used in the scheme.
