<strong>Holt</strong> <strong>Integrated</strong> <strong>Circuits</strong> <strong>Introduces</strong> <strong>RS</strong>-<strong>485</strong>/<strong>422</strong> <strong>Transceivers</strong> Capable<br />
of -55 o C to 200 o C Operation<br />
Mission Viejo, CA (October 24, 2012) – <strong>Holt</strong> <strong>Integrated</strong> <strong>Circuits</strong> today announced the introduction of<br />
a family of <strong>RS</strong>-<strong>485</strong>/<strong>422</strong> transceivers capable of operating in temperatures from −55°C to 200 o C. The<br />
HI-<strong>485</strong>3H family is capable of data rates up to 20Mbps (50 ft. CAT-5 UTP).<br />
All devices in the family offer extended power supply range (3.15V to 5.5V), controlled slew rate and a<br />
wide common mode voltage range (−12V to +15V for half-duplex, ± 20V for full-duplex). Each device<br />
delivers at least ± 1.50V and ± 2.00V output drive at worst-case supply voltages of 3.15V and 4.5V<br />
respectively, over an extended temperature range of −55°C to +200°C into a differential load of 54<br />
and 50pF.<br />
The receiver offers true Fail-Safe operation, providing a guaranteed logic high<br />
output when the bus is open-circuit, short-circuit or idle (terminated but not driven). The receiver’s<br />
worst case minimum input resistance is at least 70 k at 200°C.<br />
“This family of devices provides customers with the capability of operating in extremely harsh<br />
environments, with all device parameters guaranteed across the full temperature range −55°C to<br />
+200°C,” said Anthony Murray, Director of Business Development at <strong>Holt</strong>. “These devices are targeted<br />
at high temperature avionics and industrial applications such as MMSI / EBR-1553 and down-hole<br />
drilling.”<br />
The HI-<strong>485</strong>3H operates half duplex whereas the HI-<strong>485</strong>4H and HI-<strong>485</strong>5H provide full duplex<br />
operation. Operation up to 200°C is guaranteed in an 8-pin CERDIP package with industry standard<br />
pin-outs, whereas plastic SOIC package options guarantee operation up to 175°C.<br />
