ASME Award has once again honoured
outstanding forays into the dynamic realm of

pinwheel is a simple contraption:
a bladed wheel attached to a
shaft via a pin in the hub, steadily
spinning as the curved blades catch the
wind, creating a beautiful and complete
circle. For many, the pinwheel represents
nostalgic memories from childhood.
For the Entrepreneur of the Year ~ A
Rotary-ASME Award 2012 (EYA 2012),
the pinwheel is the personification of
the 360 degree entrepreneur – versatile,
passionate and multi-faceted.

of Small and Medium Enterprises (ASME)
and the Rotary Club of Singapore, the
Award has over the years established
itself as a prestigious business accolade
that celebrates brilliant entrepreneurship
on a national level.

and entrepreneurs alike. The Award is

This year, 13 remarkable individuals from
12 companies have been accorded
the title of Top Entrepreneur for EYA
2012. They have proven themselves to
be passionate about their businesses,

As the Award theme this year, the
pinwheel is constituted of many tiny
triangles, each playing its small yet
important role in forming the overall shape
of the pinwheel. These minute elements
are akin to the qualities possessed by
entrepreneurs: determination, passion,
perseverance, etc., all harnessed to be
able to continue spinning triumphantly in
the winds of change that characterises
the modern business environment.
For the 24 th year running, EYA has
consistently recognised and brought
deserving entrepreneurs to the fore,

while still bearing in mind the importance
of social contribution. They have also
successfully integrated technology into
current business processes as well
as conducted extensive research and
development in order to bring their
businesses to the next level. A number
of the Top Entrepreneurs this year are
also 2 nd or even 3 rd generation business
successors who have successfully
steered their companies onto the most
effective path for the future. Although
the Top Entrepreneurs hail from different
industries and market sectors, all of them
are united by their spirit for enterprise.
