Restionaceae & Grasses
Restionaceae are rush-like plants, often with a tufted habit. Some species have leaves, but in many the leaves
have been reduced to sheaths. The male and female flowers are borne on separate plants, and often the males
and females of a species bear little resemblance to one another! All the species below are fine textural & accent
plants, but they are difficult to describe adequately without pictures. Seeds of all species are sold in small packets.
Many are available in larger quantities - please ask for prices. Some of the Restionaceae are difficult to germinate
- germination may be stimulated by smoke, heat, a combination of the two, or as yet unidentified stimulants.
Please ask for germination instructions if you require them. Treatment of the seeds with smoke appears to
