Avril has over 25 years experience in the HVAC (Heating, ventilation, air
conditioning and refrigeration) industry. His initial training in industrial
air conditioning he acquired at the south African Airways, railways and
harbours. While working for york MIAC, Avril revamped an entire hospital
HVAC system nineteen years ago.
Ten years ago Avril invented and built the unifridge which is currently being used and studied in ten
universities in south Africa, and in a university in saudi Arabia. Five FeTs (Further education and Training
institutions) are also using the unifridge.
He has worked as a consultant in the HVAC field at Tshwane University of Technology, Cape Peninsula
University of Technology, Botswana University, Mangosuthu University of Technology and Dublin City
University in Ireland. Avril also lectures HVAC and electrical technology at the University of Johannesburg.
He is currently busy with VrFs (Variable refrigerant Flow) systems, and different refrigeration
applications.
He is currently training engineers & technicians at Usizo Technical services. He lectures from a hands on
approach and is a passionate instructor.
