1 Measure the length of the channel on each side of 

the pool. (e.g. 26m each side = 52m) 

2 Measure the length of the channel on each width of

3 Count the number of corner sections required, if the 

pool is rectangular in shape this will be 4 corner

ENGINEERED FOR COMPETITIVE 

SWIMMING 

The success of the “Competitor” Racing Lanes is the result 

of many sophisticated engineering features. 

The construction of each lane starts with a heavy-duty, 

Stainless Steel aircraft cable that is strong and durable, yet 

flexible. ‘Threaded’ onto the cable are the unique patented 

discs that rotate independently to capture and baffle waves. 

Dispersing the water’s force are the discs’ rigid 

reinforcement ‘spokes’. As churning water hits the ‘spokes’, 

the discs revolve, stopping the water and re-routing it 

through the small holes. 

By the time turbulent water has come into contact with, and 

passed through the “Competitor” Racing Lanes, it has lost 

its disruptive force; providing each swimmer with “fast 

water”. 

“Competitor” Racing Lanes also feature a unique flotation 

system. Every fourth disc is specially designed to hold the 

patented ‘donut’ floats into position. This design eliminates 

sagging and allows for turbulence control the entire 

length of the lane, thus eliminating dead spots and water 

bounce-back. 

The engineering design of the “Competitor” Swim Lane 

is just as exceptional at the ends as it is in the middle. 

It has the shortest hook-up available and provides full 

gutter-to-gutter water turbulence control. The heavy-duty 

tension spring and the Stainless Steel and nickel ratchet 

take-up reel allow for infinite tension adjustment. 

SWIMMER SAFETY is also an integral part of “Competitor” 

design and construction. The heavy-duty tension spring 

allows lanes to absorb shock of swimmer impact... the 

ratchet reel has a vinyl cover for swimmer protection, 

and wave-quelling discs have high impact resistance.

casualties with suspected spinal 

injuries from swimming pools and 

leisure centres. 

The Aquaboard Immobilisation System 

has been designed in conjunction with 

the RLSS UK and forms a part of their 

Spinal Injury Management Programme. 

The Aquaboard serves to immobilise 

a casualty within the water, helping to 

prevent secondary injury to the spinal 

cord prior to recovery on the poolside. 

Incorporating several innovative features, 

the Aquaboard is quick and simple to 

apply and is effective for aquatic rescue. 

The durable back support, manufactured from hard wearing 

neoprene material, easily attaches to the board by means of velcro 

strapping. 

The non-slip base of the back support helps prevent the casualty 

from moving once strapped to the board. 

For ease of use, four basic stages of application are clearly 

illustrated on this support which allows the patient to be accurately 

positioned for optimum stability. 

The Aquaboard includes the following unique features:- 

● 5 Body and Leg Straps with colour coded buckles for ease of 

identification and accurate application. 

● Lightweight Head Restraint with three retaining straps. 

● Fully Adjustable to accommodate various casualty sizes from 

child through to adult. 

● A concave design for easy positioning under the supported

● A convex underside with protected straps and built in runners

WP 1.4 The distance between the goal lines shall be not less than 20 metres and not more than 30m. 

The width of the field of play shall be not less than 10 metres and not more than 20 metres. 

The boundary of the field of play at each end shall be 0.30 metres behind the goal line. 

WP 1.6 Distinctive marks shall be provided on both sides of the field of play to denote the following: 

(a) white marks - goal line and half distance line, (b) red marks - 2 metres from goal lines 

(c) yellow marks - 5 metres from goal lines. The sides of the field of play from the goal line to the 

2 metre line shall be marked in red; from the 2 metre line to the 5 metre line shall be marked in yellow 

and from the 5 metre line to the half distance line shall be marked in green. 

WP 2.1 Two goal posts and a crossbar, rigidly constructed, rectangular with a dimension of 0.075 

metres facing the field of play and painted white shall be located on the goal lines at each end, equal 

distances from the sides and not less than 0.30 metres in front of the ends of the field of play. 

WP 2.2 The inner sides of the goal posts shall be 3 metres apart. When the water is 1.50 metres or

WP2.3 Limp nets shall be securely fastened to the goal posts and crossbar to enclose the entire goal

Quick Guide to Choosing a Photometer 

Industry Professionals tend overwhelmingly to encourage the use of an electronic instrument (photometer) for 

the critical safety testing of pool and spa water. Simple to use they are more reliable, accurate, and less inclined 

to user error than visual based test methods. 

What to Look for? 

What can it test for? Consider not only the frequent tests like chlorine and pH etc but also whether you may want 

the option to do troubleshooting tests like Sulphate or Nitrate. 

Waterproof Water splashing is inevitable and the instrument may even get dropped in the pool so look for 

an IP67 rating which means the unit is designed to still work after being submerged at 1 meter 

for 30 minutes. 

Backlit screen Consider the location the instrument will be used at and the available lighting conditions. 

A larger screen and text can also be useful in poorly lit locations. 

Power source Should prolonged use of the backlight be necessary then the option to run off a low voltage 

mains adapter can be useful to avoid frequent battery changes. This means the instrument 

has its own memory of past results. Useful for checking and auditing. 

On-board data log The instrument has a memory of past results for checking or auditing.
