1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (KJV) Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the
kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor
adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10 Nor
thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit
the kingdom of God.
✗ Fornicators – pornos – a man or woman who prostitutes their body.
✗ Adulterer – moichos – a man or woman who is sexually unfaithful in
marriage
✗ Effeminate – a boy kept for homosexual relationships with a man, a male
who submits to unnatural lewdness.
✗ Abusers of themselves with mankind – arsenokoytace – a sodomite, a
homosexual, one who lies with a male as with a female.
Of the ten sins listed that will keep you out of Heaven, four are sexual in nature.
Opening Illustration Years ago, doctors would test the sanity of mental patients with a
test: They put their patient in a room that had a sink. Then they turned the faucet on. They
put a stopper in the sink which caused the sink to overflow. Then the patient was handed a
mop and closed the door. If the patient mopped like crazy and never bothered to shut off
the water or pull the plug, he was considered still insane. But if he had enough sense to
shut off the water pull the plug, and then mop up the water, he was considered
capable of going home.
America needs to take the mop test.
It's been in the news that there are a large number of "Eagle Scouts" who are turning in
their badges and resigning from the Scouts. From the Boston Globe:
"To earn his Eagle Scout badge, Ned Coltman built a 65-foot handicap access ramp out of
renewable materials for a conservation center in Reading. In 10 years as a Boy Scout, he
learned how to lead, endure hardship, and live honestly. But now he is quitting the Scouts.
He is among dozens of Scouts from Massachusetts and across the country who are
returning their Eagle Scout awards to protest the organization’s longtime policy that bars
openly gay members. “This is absolute bigotry and ignorance,” said Coltman, 21, who
became an Eagle Scout in 2009 with Troop 728 in Reading. “They have to know there
are Eagles out there who are angry at this.” Coltman sent a letter to the Boy Scouts of
America .... that rescinded his affiliation with the organization, accompanied by his Eagle
Scout medal and badges. “To be involved in an organization that displays this blind
hatred is one of the most terrible feelings I have ever had,” he wrote. “The leaders
that you have created will never let this stand.”
As a result the Scouts are considering changing their policy and allowing each local
chapter to choose whether they will accept openly gay members or not. Their Director of
Public Relations Deron Smith said “The Boy Scouts would not, under any
circumstances, dictate a position to units, members or parents.”

Is it "blind hatred" to take a stance against sexual sin, as Ned Coltman proclaims? The
oath that every Scout takes before joining the organization states:
"On my honor I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country
and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong,
mentally awake, and morally straight"
The last two words "morally straight" are what is being debated. Is homosexuality a
choice made, or sexual perversion? Are people born homosexual and, if so, is it a moral or
immoral lifestyle if you are born that way?
1 Can I be "born that way" and what I do still be morally wrong and Biblically a
sin? The Bible tells us that all of us are born sinners. The Psalmist David said:
Psalms 51:5 (KJV) Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive
me.
Until someone meets and receives the Lord Jesus Christ the Bible says that we are ...
Ephesians 2:1-3 (KJV) .... dead in trespasses and sins; 2 Wherein in time past ye walked
according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air,
the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: 3 Among whom also we
all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of
the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
Before you meet the Lord Jesus Christ you serve twin masters: the devil and the world.
Before salvation every person "fulfills the desire of the flesh and of the mind". We do
what we feel and do what we think. It is only when we come to Jesus that our eyes are
opened and we know right from wrong.
We base "right" and "wrong" before Christ on peer pressure and self. But after Christ
we base right or wrong on what God says in His Word, not on ourselves.
a If I'm born this way then why is it wrong? Every person is born with an Old Sin
Nature and a disposition toward a certain type of sin. The Bible commands the
Christian to recognize that he has an old man that he is to put off and a new man that he is
to put on.
Ephesians 4:22-24 (KJV) That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old
man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the
spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in
righteousness and true holiness.

The Christian is saved not only from hellfire but also from sin. We are no longer the
servants of sin and do not dance to its tune.
Romans 6:4, 6 (KJV) .... as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the
Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. ... 6 Knowing this, that our old
man is crucified with [him], that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth
we should not serve sin.
You may have been born with a propensity to steal or to anger or to drunkenness or to
child molestation or even homosexuality or other sexual sin outside of marriage, but being
born with the desires does not mean that it is not sinful or immoral.
Illustrate Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer (May 21, 1960 – November 28, 1994) was an
American serial killer and sex offender. Dahmer murdered 17 men and boys between
1978 and 1991, with the majority of the murders occurring between 1987 and 1991. All of
his murders included rape, dismemberment, necrophilia and cannibalism. Dahmer
was born with Antisocial Personality Disorder (ASPD) which is characterized by callous
unconcern for the feelings of others; gross and persistent attitude of irresponsibility and
disregard for social norms, rules, and obligations; incapacity to experience guilt or to profit
from experience, particularly punishment; markedly prone to blame others or to offer
plausible rationalizations for the behavior that has brought the person into conflict with
society. He was born this way. Does that mean thaty his actions were moral or immoral.
Illustrate What of the child molester? Are they born with these desires - and if so, is what
they do moral or immoral? What of the alcoholic? If someone is born with cravings
toward alcohol, is it sinful if they become drunk and operate a motor vehicle, killing
somebody? Drunkenness is a sin:
1 Corinthians 5:11 (KJV) ... now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any
man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or
a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
and Christians are exhorted to withdraw from fellowship with those in sexual immorality,
drunkenness, greedy, idol worshipers, or those who "party".
b What about the person born a "hermaphrodite", born with two reproductive
organs? If born this way, why can't that person freely choose the sex of his or her
mate? Based on medical findings there are no documented cases where both organs
function. In times past, doctors would perform surgeries without first testing the infant to
find out its true sex, and the child would sometimes grow up very obviously a man,
with female genitalia.

chromosome analysis, and even do exploratory surgery to find out the baby's true
sex. This deformity is easily more correctable than leukemia or cancer.
A child born this way is not cursed but, as I said before, the Bible declares that all of
creation is corrupted by sin. The Bible tells us that God created everything perfect, but
Adam brought sin and with it disharmony into the world:
Romans 5:12 (KJV) Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by
sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
The child born a hermaphrodite suffers a correctable condition far less debilitating than
cancer or leukemia. The hermaphrodite is born - truly born - either male or female.
Medical science can easily correct this condition.
c If the Eagle Scouts are returning their badges and calling the exclusion of
homosexuals a hate crime, and if the President of the United States supports same sex
marriage, shouldn't this be enough for me to give my approval? No, not at all. It is
God Who determines right from wrong, not us. The Bible says:
Psalms 145:17-20 (KJV) The LORD [is] righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his
works. 18 The LORD [is] nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon
him in truth. 19 He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their
cry, and will save them. 20 The LORD preserveth all them that love him: but all the
wicked will he destroy.
When Adam and Eve failed to heed God but choose what they thought was right, they
brought destruction on the world. When Israel decided the right time to enter the Promised
Land, they lost that land, and wandered dying for 40 years. When you violate God's Law it
may not catch up with you today, and may not catch up with you tomorrow - but it will
catch up with you.
Illustrate Dr. R.G. Lee preached a sermon called Payday Someday over 1000 times
before he died. In that sermon he talked about being called to the deathbed of a man about
19 or 20 years old. He asked the young man "Is there something I can do for you?" He
replied in almost a snarl. "No. Nothing! Not a thing. Nothin' 'tall! — unless you throw
my body to the buzzards when I am dead — if the buzzards will have it!" Then his
voice lost some of the snarl — and he spoke again. "I sent for you, sir, because I want
you to tell these young fellows here something for me. I sent for you because I know
you go up and down the land and talk to many young people. And I want you to tell
‘em, and tell ‘em every chance you get, that the Devil pays only in counterfeit money.
Oh! I wish I could tell all men and women and all boys and girls everywhere to
believe the truth that Satan always pays in counterfeit money, that all his pearls are
paste pearls, that the nectar he offers is poisoned through and through. Oh, that men
would learn the truth and be warned by the truth that if they eat the Devil's corn, he
will choke them with the cob." Doctor Lee went on to say "I stayed with this young
man nearly two hours. Occasionally he spoke. There was a desperate earnestness in

the young man's voice as he looked at me with wild eyes where terror was enthroned.
I felt his hand clutch at mine as a drowning man would grab for a rope. I held his
hand. I heard the raucous gurgle in his throat. Then he became quiet — like a forest
when the cyclone is long gone. The Devil had paid the young man off in counterfeit
money."
It is not the Scouts that determines right and wrong. If the laws of our nation were
changed tomorrow where same sex marriage was legalized it would make no difference.
If all your friends were pro-sexual sin itwould make no difference. Morality is not
established by anyone but God, and what He has said is what we will follow.
d What does it matter as long as the two people love one another? God calls sexual
sin "sin" for a reason. There is always a price to be paid when we dabble in sin. In every
nation where sexual sin is not only winked at but endorsed, the laws of that country begin
to force Christians to do that which is against their conscience and the Word of God.
● A Christian couple in England were prosecuted for refusing to allow a
homosexual couple to married in and stay at their “bed and breakfast” home.
● In Boston and Chicago - places where same sex marriages are recognized and
performed - the Christian company Chick-fil-A was threatened by the mayors
of those cities with shut down and refusal to allow them to conduct business.
Their crime? Chick-fil-A donated food to organizations supporting Biblical
Marriage while refusing to donate food to Gay Rights Parades.
● Illicit heterosexual sin has led to so called unwanted pregnancies, and
abortions are now forced on health care providers. Because Hobby Lobby
refuses to support this part of the Obamacare Package and is being fined 1.3
million dollars a day until they relent and authorize abortions in their
employee health care plan.
● Danish parliament voted by an overwhelming 85-24 margin to compel
churches to carry out unions for same-sex couples that are identical to
heterosexual marriage celebrations. This law took effect June 15, 2012. Those
who say "it can't happen in America"
● The birth rate in America is at the lowest level it's been since 1920, 63.2 births
per 1000 women of childbearing age. News sources point to the economy to
explain this, but I believe sexual sin and abortion are more the culprits. If this
continues our country will age and die!
Illustrate Adrian Rogers said "Years ago I read about a man who had a rather
ingenious way of getting rid of his garbage. He would gift-wrap it, put it out on the
curb in front of his house, and invariably someone driving by would see that wrapped
box, stop, and pick it up. And the man would be behind the curtains, watching those
people drive away with their gift-wrapped garbage! So many times that's what the
devil does. He just takes the things of this world and wraps them up so beautifully.
But what we get is not treasure…it turns out to be trash."
We need top learn not to pick up the garbage of Satan but to tune into the Word of God.

2 The Bible says that sexual sin comes from people rejecting God. The Roman
Empire was world renown for it's sexual liberation. When you came to Rome there
were many Temples dedicated to Venus, the goddess of love. When you entered to
worship the goddess you were encouraged to give yourself to a temple prostitute. This type
of evil infiltrated the Church at Corinth causing the Apostle to write them, saying:
1 Corinthians 6:15-19 (KJV) Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ?
shall I then take the members of Christ, and make [them] the members of an harlot?
God forbid. 16 What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body?
for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. 17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one
spirit. 18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that
committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. 19 What? know ye not that
your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which is] in you, which ye have of God,
and ye are not your own?
Fornication - illicit sexual sin - is a sin against your own body. Every other sin effects
others - your family, friends, Church, and community. But sexual sin destroys your body.
It twists your mind to where you will never find your right mate. It brings disease. It brings
sickness and death to you. Sexual sin isn't something to wink at, but something to run
from, as if you would run from a viper.
a There is but One God, and He is clearly represented in nature. Venus is not real,
neither is Apollo, Zeus, Thor, or any of the many other gods and goddesses the pagans
worshiped.
Romans 1:18-20 (KJV) For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all
ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; 19
Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed
[it] unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are
clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, [even] his eternal power
and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
The world is without excuse. They know there is but One God. No one curses saying
"Apollo! Zeus!". No, people say "Oh my God" or say "Jesus Christ" when they are not
speaking of Him or to Him. They know there is a God. They know, for God has placed the
knowledge of Himself in nature and in their hearts. Yet they do not worship God. What did
they do?
Romans 1:21 (KJV) Because that, when they knew God, they glorified [him] not as God,
neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart
was darkened.
They "became vain in their imaginations". They made up other gods and goddesses.
They created idols with their hands, and worshiped that which they created.

Romans 1:23 (KJV) And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image
made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping
things.
God made man and woman in His own image and after His own likeness (Genesis
1:27). When man rejects the true God and makes up his own gods, then God walks
away.
b When God walks away from a person or a nation, the people begin to "dishonor
their own bodies between themselves". The Bible says:
Romans 1:24 (KJV) Wherefore God also GAVE THEM UP to uncleanness through the
lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
"God gave them up". God says, "All right - you have rejected Me. I so loved You that
I came to this earth, suffering and dying for you so that your sins would be covered.
Instead you mock me and create false gods. I give you up to dishonor". God not only
"gave them up" to dishonor themselves, but we read:
Romans 1:26 (KJV) For this cause God GAVE THEM UP unto vile affections: for even
their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
They are "given up to vile affections", the "women changing their natural use into
something against nature". This is a reference to sexual sin, specifically lesbian activity.
Romans 1:27 (KJV) ... likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman,
burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is
unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was
meet.
The "men left their natural use" and "burn in lust toward each other doing that
which is unseemly". This is a reference to homosexual sin. lesbian and homosexual
behavior is not something to wink at. It is a sinful and destructive lifestyle that hurts the
people who are involved. It is a lifestyle that people bring on themselves by rejecting God
and striking out on their own. The Bible says that human homosexual behavior is
“unseemly” and an “error” that brings about the wrath of God.
3 What should my response to sexual sin be?
a Realize there is a difference between recognizing wrong behavior and hating a
person. No Christian is called to hate. The Bible says:
James 2:7-8 (KJV) Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are
called? 8 If ye fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy

neighbor as thyself, ye do well:
It dishonors the name of Christ for any Christian to hate a person. We do not hate the
sexual sinner, though we do dislike what they are doing to themselves and others by their
sin. Their sin keeps them out of Heaven and away from God and godliness. Sexual sinners
are welcome to attend this Church as long as they do not openly flaunt their behavior.
b Share the Gospel with all sinners – even sexual sinners. The Bible tells us:
2 Peter 3:9 (KJV) The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count
slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that
all should come to repentance.
c It is God that saves, not me. We present the Gospel then let God be God.
Ephesians 2:8-10 (KJV) For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of
yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10 For we
are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath
before ordained that we should walk in them.
