Your Chance to Own a Pub
What is the heart of a village - a church, a shop and a pub? All three provide sustenance
comfort and a community spirit. Here in
Shottisham our pub, the Sorrel Horse, is up
for sale. A group of dedicated people have led
a bid for us all to buy it. If we succeed,
purchasers will own shares in a limited
company and feel involved in the continuing
success of a pub at the centre of village life.
More and more pubs are being closed. In
1844, White’s Directory mentions 29 pubs
and 9 beerhouses in Woodbridge. Only a few
of these remain. Other village pubs are
struggling to survive at a time of increasing
costs and decreasing incomes. We must not
let this happen on the Peninsula.
