Dear Colleagues & Students of Obstetrics & Gynaecology,
We are extremely happy to announce and organize the first
RCOG Basic Practical Skill Course in Jan 2013 at Dharwad.
An excellent surgeon is born out of a sound knowledge and
practice of basic surgical skills. These skills are not specifically
covered/ adequately stressed in detail during our foundation/ core
specialty training. Hence we always felt a need for such a course for all
our postgraduates. RCOG BPS Course is very popular in the UK and
worldwide and RGUHS is recently thinking of making such a course
mandatory for completion of post-graduates in all surgical branches.
This course has been designed to introduce surgical trainees to safe
and essential basic technical skills required of a surgeon instilling
good practice at the early stages of training. Aim of the course is to give
trainees a firm foundation for a career in Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
Special features of the course include:
Hands on practice throughout the course.
High tutor- participant ratio
Personal training with limited participants per course
Performance assessment and feedback to identify areas of strength
& weakness
Important topics like electrosurgery, basic laparoscopy &
hysteroscopy apart from all basic topics
Communication skills, Audit & risk management
Certification by RCOG (UK)
This will be an intensive course with plenty of opportunity for you
to learn & practice skills in the laboratory using bench top models
appropriate for the course.
