The BLonDe
BASICS
A good knowledge of colour theory and hair pigmentation
is essential in order to become a true BLONDE EXPERT.
COLOUR THEORY
All of the colours that we see every day are made up from three primary colours.
By mixing these three colours in different ratios we create all other colours,
shades and tones.
PRIMARY COLOURS
The colour wheel displays the three primary colours,
arranged in a triangle:
• Yellow
• Red
• Blue
SECONDARY COLOURS
The three secondary colours are created by mixing two
primary colours together:
• Orange: Yellow + Red
• Green: Yellow + Blue
• Violet: Red + Blue
OPPOSITE COLOURS
As well as being used to create new colours, the opposite
colours in the colour wheel can also neutralize each other:
• Green neutralizes Red
• Blue neutralizes Orange
• Violet neutralizes Yellow

Within the hair there are two types of colour pigments that will determine its
natural colour:
• Eumelanin: a large colour pigment, dark in colour, which gives depth to the hair
(black, brown-red). eumelanin is easily removed from the hair through oxidation.
• Pheomelanin: a smaller colour pigment, lighter/warmer in colour, which provides a
colour direction to the hair (orange-yellow). Pheomelanin is very small, deeply sealed
into the hair structure and extremely resistant to solvents.
LIGHTENING PROCESS
During the lightening process, the warm underlying pigment may be exposed due to
the remaining Pheomelanin pigments in the hair fiber. To achieve the perfect cool
blonde colours, you will have to neutralize the warm underlying pigment.

• The client has a dark natural base (light brown or darker) and wants to go for an ultra-blonde look,
without going too warm.
• The client wants to have an extremely light and cool tone.
BLONDME’S SOLUTION:
BLOnDMe Premium Lift 9+ Lightener gives up to 9 levels of lift while the advanced formula neutralizes
any unwanted yellow pigments in the hair, suitable for natural or tinted hair.

• Pre-lighten the hair to the desired level based on your target end result. (TIP: When targeting neutral
to cool shades, pre-lighten hair to a half of a level lighter than the desired end result.)
• Application hints & tips:
• Virgin hair: Apply to mid-lengths and ends and then apply to new growth last.
• Previously colour treated hair: Start application on the darkest areas first.
• Processing time is 20 to 45 minutes; depending on the desired level of lightness.
• Shampoo and treat the hair with BLONDME care products ensuring hair is in optimal condition
for the next step.
• Blow dry the hair in order to assess the amount of remaining warm tones in the hair.
• Using the colour wheel as your guideline, select the BLONDME Toning Cream of your choice.
• The processing time for the BLONDME Toning Creams is 15 to 30 minutes. (Note: When toning
blonde hair with cool shades, it is advisable to process visually in order to achieve the desired result.)
Note: The BLONDME Toning Creams have a low Ammonia content and are formulated to deposit colour
pigments on blonde hair level 8 and higher.

4 levels of lift while the white areas are harmoniously blended.
