The 46 is a cruising Swan and fulfils the design philosophy that has made Swan what it is 

today. Superb single cockpit with twin wheels and no mainsheet track make for a very 

simply, safe and user friendly area. All control lines are lead aft to the cockpit with the 

main sheet and headsail sheets close at hand by the wheel allowing single handed 

sailing if required. The relatively small non overlapping headsail also makes this Swan 

very simple to tack especially when compared to the older boats with much larher 

headsails. The beautifully appointed owners cabin is forward and the twin aft guest 

cabins are port and starboard aft. These of course are ideally suited to be used as berths 

whilst at sea. The deck layout provides very easy sail handling for short handed and long 

distance work as required. The mainsheet winch is easy to hand and are electric to make 

short handed sailing very comfortable. The halyard winch is also electric. “Mynx” was 

supplied by us to the previous and current current owners and was built in late 2007 but 

was not launched until February 2008. She has been used mainly by her husband and 

wife team for cruising and has also been used for some racing both here in the Solent 

and on some offshore races to France. 

This is a beautifully built and designed cruising Swan, and due to the relatively short

Design – German Frers 

HULL 

The hull is of single skin construction using fibreglass reinforced isopolyester laminate 

With vinylester skincoat. Structural bulkheads are of marine plywood laminated to hull 

and deck with foam strips between. 

Engine beds are of GRP. 

Gelcoats are of weather-resistant NGA type. 





Hull Finish 

Hull colour, gelcoat NGA 9650, white. 

Boot top, cove stripe and single coaming stripe, gelcoat NGA 7344, dark blue instead of 

standard. 

Uncoloured gelcoat below waterline. 

Epoxy barrier coat layers sprayed on bottom, and finished with antifouling. 

Bottom paint, International Micron Extra, Dover white. 

The keel is lead casting with antimony and carefully finished to accurate shape. 

Cast-in keel bolts are of high-tensile stainless steel. 

The mast is stepped through the deck onto a composite mast step. 

Rudder of foam filled GRP with tapered hi-tensile stainless steel stock, supported by two 

self-aligning bearings. 

Two 1.05m stainless wheels with Elkhide cover, 1.8 turns H.O to H.O 

Composite steering pedestals with roller bearings, brake and crash bar. 

2 x Mug holders installed one on each pedestal. 

Emergency tiller stowed in lazarette. 

Bronze sea cocks for all through-hull connections below waterline, finished flush and 

located in accessible positions. 

Part of the transom folds out manually to form a platform with ladder up to deck, and 

providing access to the transom stowage area. 





Separate bathing ladder. 

Helmsman’s seat and pushpit can be opened for convenient access to platform. 

DECK 

Deck is of sandwich construction, using multiaxial glass fibre reinforced, isopolyester 

laminate with low-density closed cell foam core, and is bonded to the hull. 

Optional Aluminium backing plates installed under deck for later installations of spinnaker 

fittings on deck. 

2 x removable teak foot rests for helmsman. 

Winches & Windlasses 

Optional mainsheet winches, standard 2 x Lewmar 50 CST, manual, wiring done for 

Electrical mainsheet winches, including switch on electrical panel. 

Optional Halyard winches 1 x Lewmar 48 CEST (chrome electric self tailing), on 

starboard side, winch motor covered by GRP frame in overhead, 1 x Lewmar 48 (Chrome 

self tailing) CST, manual on port side, instead of standard 2 x Lewmar 48 CST. 

Two primary sheet winches Lewmar 54 CST two speeds. 

Recessed Lewmar electric anchor windlass.

INTERIOR 

Nautor have built their reputation on the quality and finish of their sailing yachts. “Mynx” is 

a beautiful example of the Finnish craftsmanship and can really on be appreciated by 

visiting this yacht. 





The solid and veneered Teak is finished with a hand rubbed satin finish, which is applied 

to all the visible woodwork. 

Floorboards are laid with oak veneer, providing access to the bilge. 

The floor is suspended on an Aluminium sub frame, which is hand, finished and fitted. 

The interior topsides, where visible, are lined with teak or as appropriate with white 

painted wooden battens. 

Overheads are lined with removable panelling. 

Best practice yacht building is employed in all areas with cabinets; tables, bureaus, 

seats, dressers etc have rounded corners. 

Doors, partitions and panelling are teak-faced plywood or foam. 

Satin finish push buttons for cupboards and drawers, instead of standard. 

Self-engaging latches with bumpers to hold doors in open position 

Handrails at entrance and in heads. 

The companionway stairs are bespoke to this particular Swan and are without tread 

master. Surface with recessed stainless steel anti slip stripes more akin to the Swan 82. 

The upholstery for salon sofas, chairs and mattresses in cabins is in Annala Calico, 

white, with matching piping, finished with scotch guard. 

Material for curtains in saloon and aft cabins, Orient Occident Saba 10, off white. 

Curtains are lined. 

All fixed berths have foam mattresses; the fixed berths in the owners cabin have foam 

mattresses over Scandi-Flex battens. 

For double berths the foam is12.5cm (5”), for single berths 7.5cm (3”), and pipe cots 5cm 

(2”) thick mattresses. 

Forward and aft cabin berths equipped with canvas lee cloths. 

Curtains for side windows and portholes.

Thermostat-controlled fresh water-cooling with heat exchanger on engine. 

A separate heat exchanger for the consumable fresh water in included in the same circuit
