C. NOTE: There will be occasions when reference must be made to the type code, intermediate
code, and/or the end code, located above, before assigning the commodity code to a product.
For example, on the first page of the commodity code list, there are two listings for Ballyhoo Bait,
0150101090 and 0150201090, the difference being the type code. The number 1 refers to
“fresh” and the number 2 refers to “frozen” product. Other examples of the dual product
descriptions are noted in Attachment #3. Carefully review the commodity code list and the type
code, intermediate code and/or end code found in this attachment before selecting the
commodity code number.
If a specific species commodity code is not listed for the product inspected or produced, refer to
the unclassified fish section in this attachment to obtain the commodity code. Remember, after
several of the species specific codes, such as salmon, flounder, snapper, etc., there is a section
that contains the unclassified form, e.g., flounder unclassified, which should be checked before
identifying the product with the unclassified fish commodity code. Further, there is a section of
unclassified shellfish following the species specific codes for shellfish.
