Plate Portfolio
The plate is available in two different
lengths and head sizes, which
allows to suit different bone shapes.
Therefore the overall plate lengths vary
from 140 mm to 245 mm.
Cerclage Fixation
Notches along the plate and the
additional cerclage screw facilitate the
positioning of cerclage systems to
improve plate fixation.
Sterile Packaging
Trofix Trochanteric Fixation Plate is
offered in a sterile package with
10 years shelf life. It is therefore the
optimal solution for several indications
(e.g. as an emergency plate for
trochanteric refixation during hip
arthroplasty).
Small head: short 140 mm, long 235 mm

Trofix in combination with a cerclage system

Trofix – Trochanteric Fixation Plate
Trofix Trochanteric Fixation Plate is a versatile plate solution
for the treatment of trochanteric fracture(s) and nonunions.
An innovative plate contour allows multiple fixation options
(e.g. screws, screw cerclage systems) improving stabilization for
different type of trochanteric fracture(s) and pseudarthrosis or
nonunions. The special plate profile covers the whole trochanteric
area reducing the possibility of fragment redisplacement.

Indications
• Trochanteric pseudarthrosis
after osteotomy or fracture.
• Trochanteric osteotomies (primary
fixation).
• Multifragmentary trochanteric
fractures.
• Per-/subtrochanteric fractures with
trochanteric fragments. In this
case the plate must be combined
with an intramedullary system.
• Periprosthetic fractures with trochanter
tear-off. In this case the plate is
combined with a stem implant.
• Pathological fractures/metastasis in
the proximal area of the femur
(fixation or augmentation of the
trochanter).
Polyaxial Screw
Placement
Multiple options for screw placement
and the angular freedom of the
lateral and proximal screws enable
the plate to be combined with an
intramedullary system. The screw
angulation for the distal-proximal
direction varies between 30° and 45°.
Avoid contact with the IM system by
using the angular freedom in the
latero-medial direction which is 20°
for the cancellous screws and 25°
for the cortical screws.

Improved Compression in the Trochanteric Area
The exclusive plate contour of Trofix
Implant in combination with the
tension device allows increasing the
compression in the trochanteric area.
Screw Types
Two types of screws are available for
shaft fixation. 4.5 mm titanium screws
are used in the absence of prosthesis
in the central holes of the plate.
In presence of a stem they also may
be placed unicortical.
3.5 mm bicortical titanium screws are
used in presence of prosthesis, placed
in the lateral holes of the plate edge.
Screws should avoid contact with the
hip stem.
To improve the interfragmentary
compression in the proximal part of
the plate 4 mm cancellous titanium
screws are used. These screws are
available with a short thread as well
as fully threaded.

Fracture reduction using the tension device
The plate profile covers the whole area
reducing the possibility of fragment
redisplacement and enables bone grafting
after the reduction procedure.
