Leaf Tip (apex)
Leaf tip types are determined by the
angle they form, by the pointedness of
the tip, and by the curving either convex
or concave towards the tip. As with all
descriptions, you can add adjectives to
further clarify.
A Truncate apex is
a flat tip appearing
as if the leaf apex
was cut off straight
at a 180º angle.
An acuminate apex starts out straight or convex then changes to
concave and gradually comes to a point. The angle should be between
60º and 90º. If the angle is greater than 90º it is a short accuminate
apex and if the angle is less than 60º it is a long acuminate apex.
