abortive - imperfectly developed<br />
acaulescent – inconspicuous stems or having no stem.<br />
acuminate - tapering to a point with somewhat concave sides<br />
acute - sharply pointed with the sides straight or somewhat convex<br />
adventitious growth - leaves or plant parts appearing in abnormal places such as leaves growing out of a<br />
flower stalk<br />
alate -having wings.<br />
androecium - reproductive portion of male flower composed of one or more stamens<br />
angulate - having noticeable angles<br />
anther - pollen producing part of the stamen<br />
apex - terminal end or tip<br />
apiculate - tipped with small sharp point<br />
articulated - jointed<br />
ascendent - directed upwards<br />
asexual - sexless<br />
attenuate - gradual narrow tapering<br />
auriculate - having ear-like lobes<br />
axil - the angle formed between any two plant parts<br />
