experiment on new compositions by fusing various Philippine music traditions<br />
(pre-Christian, rural folk music) and modern song styles. The UP Musika Asya<br />
of Kristina Benitez and Felicidad Prudente created simplified and synthetic<br />
versions of Philippine ethnic music. Joey Ayala and his group, Ang Bagong<br />
Lumad, incorporate instrumental sounds from Mindanao highland cultures in their<br />
music, which can be characterized as a spontaneous fusion of folk ballad style and<br />
