Author Biographies
Margaret Wetherell is a Senior Lecturer in the Social Sciences Faculty at the Open
University. Her research interests include work on discourse and identity particularly
in relation to gender and race issues. She is the author (with Jonathan Potter) of
Discourse and Social Psychology (1987) and Mapping the Language of Racism
(1992) and editor of the social psychology textbook Identities, Groups and Social
Issues (1996).
Nigel Edley is a lecturer in social psychology at Nottingham Trent University. For
some years now he has been researching issues of ideology, identity and subjectivity
from a social constructionist framework. He is the author (with Margaret Wetherell)
of Men in Perspective: Practice, Power and Identity (1995).
