Instruction manual Safety precautions Bianco Fibreglass Sand Filters BIA-T21 BIA-T25 BIA-T32 The symbol together with one of the following words ‘Danger’ or ‘Warning’ indicates the risk level deriving from failure to observe the prescribed safety precautions: DANGER Warns that failure to observe the precautions involves a risk of damage to persons and/or property. WARNING Warns that failure to observe precautions involves a risk of damaging the filter and/or plant. 1. General information. These instructions are designed to ensure the correct installation and best use of our garden pump. If you have any doubts, please consult your specialist dealer. By strictly following the instructions for installation and use of the filter, you will avoid the possibility of damaging the filter or any other problems associated with misuse, for which we can accept no responsibility. 2. Installation. The filter should be located as close as possible to the pool as practical. Position the filter on a stable, level foundation such as a concrete pad or paving. Position all equipment to provide ease of access for future servicing, filter drainage, pump access and cooling. Protect the filter and pump from weather and direct sunlight. A new pool should be cleaned as well as possible prior to filling pool and operating filter. BIA FGSF08.2 2
2. Filter assembly. BIA-T21, 25. Undo the V clamp and remove the multi-port valve. Multi-port valve for BIA-T32 is supplied separate to the filter tank. Locate the clear plastic sand shield for use later. The filter internals are stored inside the filter tank prior to shipment and comprise a collector hub with collector tube, and laterals loose. With the collector hub just inside the filter tank, screw each of the laterals into the collector hub. After all the laterals are screwed into the collector hub, position the assembly into the centre piece on the bottom of the filter tank. To support the laterals and prevent breakage of the laterals during sand filling, fill the filter tank with water to about half full before filling with sand. Place the clear plastic sand shield over the top of the collector tube and pour the correct type and quantity of sand into the filter tank. (refer technical data). Ensure that the sand is evenly distributed around the collector tube and that the gasket area around the top of the filter area is free of sand. Remove the plastic sand shield keep for later use. Install the multi-port valve o ring onto the top of the filter tank flange ensuring that the flange and o ring are clean. Lubricate with a silicon based lubricant. Assemble the multi-port valve onto the filter tank, ensuring that the collector tube inserts into the base of the multi-port valve. Position the multi-port valve so that the valve port labelled “PUMP” points toward the pump. BIA-T21, 25. Install the V clamp assembly so that it engages the filter tank flange and multi-port valve flange and tighten the two screws up evenly until there is a 6mm gap between the clamp faces. BIA-T32. Rotate the clamp ring clockwise until tight and the ring is flush with the valve. . 3. Pipe work assembly. If the pump and filter are located below the pool water level, it is required to fit isolating valves in the pipe between pump and skimmer box, and in the return pipe from the filter to the pool. The filter uses barrel unions to facilitate pipe connections. One half of the barrel union is screwed hand tight into the multi-port valve and seals on an O ring. The other half is glued to the PVC pressure pipe and the barrel union is then hand tightened. BIA-T21, 25. Waste barrel union incorporates a see-through outlet fitting with 1-1/2BSPM tail.
