A PVC valve socket can be screwed onto this fitting using Teflon thread tape and the other end of
the socket glued to PVC pressure pipe.
O rings and sealing surfaces must be clean.
Connect pipe from pump discharge to multi-port valve port labelled “PUMP”.
Connect pipe from pool return to multi-port valve port marked “RETURN”.
Connect pipe from waste to multi-port valve port marked “WASTE”.
4. Commissioning.
Hazardous pressures. Ensure that all clamps, fittings and connections are secure before
starting pump.
Never change multi-port valve settings or adjust clamps while the pump is operating or
equipment damage and personal injury may result.
Relieve all pressure from the system before undertaking any work on filter or pump.
Open valves and make sure pump is filled with water. Make sure pool water level is at least
50mm above bottom of skimmer opening.
Set multi-port valve to ‘BACKWASH’ position.
Start the pump with water going through filter to waste.
To prevent pump from running dry, be sure that the water level is above the bottom of skimmer
inlet. Add water to the pool if necessary to keep the skimmer box flooded while back-washing and
rinsing.
Continue on backwash until the water is clear, about 5 minutes.
Stop the pump and set multi-port valve to ‘RINSE’ position.
Run the pump for 1 minute.
If using Zelbrite repeat the above operation three times.
Stop the pump and set multi-port valve to ‘FILTER’ position.
Run the pump with the multi-port valve set to “FILTER” position and record the filter pressure
gauge reading as a reference.
For new pools, backwash once a day until pool water is clear.
Backwash when pressure gauge shows 5 to 7 psi (35 to 50kPa) higher than the pressure
recorded during commissioning.
