How to identify residents who require a continence assessment Although almost 80 percent of residents have a bladder and/or bowel problem, not all residents require a comprehensive continence assessment. By completing the Continence Screening Form (see below), you will be able to identify which residents need to have a more thorough assessment of their bowel and bladder health.

The Continence Screening Form should be completed: ● for all newly admitted residents (i.e. within 48 hours of their admission). ● for established residents who develop new onset incontinence (i.e. if their continence status changes from continent to incontinent).
