RANGE FINISHES<br />
ORIGINAL IRON (PAGES 3-6)<br />
BLACK WAX - A traditional method of protecting the iron piece, a natural beeswax coating.<br />
This is the oldest form of metal protection, the wax is applied while the iron is still hot, and usually applied on the forge, this floods into<br />
the fine scale and once dry form a barrier and can be buffed or left matt.<br />
This finish is suitable for indoors and should not be exposed to damp conditions. As this is a hand finished product there will be some<br />
small variation in finished job, only adding more character and rustic charm.<br />
CARE - A light wipe over with beeswax with keep your ironwork in top condition. For extensive cleaning ie de~rusting and rewaxing please<br />
call us for a price to redress your ironwork.<br />
RUSTIC IRON (PAGES 7-8)<br />
RUSTICS WAXED<br />
A clear coating of blended oils and waxes, this method slightly darkens the natural colour of the steel, but still allows<br />
the iron hues to show through,<br />
Care ~ The products may be slightly tacky when delivered, this is acting as protection to the product but can be buffed<br />
with a soft cloth, periodic application of clear wax or light oil may be required.<br />
YORVIK IRON (PAGES 10-12)<br />
RUSTIX<br />
A traditional clear beeswax finish is applied allowing the subtle colours of the <strong>forged</strong> metal to show, giving hues from deep ochre<br />
reds to black brown.<br />
CARE - Suitable for indoors please wipe with beeswax paste<br />
PATINE<br />
This pewtery colour is obtained through a system of corrosion inhibitors. Products treated in this way are suitable for<br />
outdoors,<br />
CARE - Regular cleaning with beeswax based products will enhance and prolong the life of the ironwork.<br />
KIRKPATRICK RANGE (PAGES 13-19)<br />
Cast malleable iron produced is Wallsall England, is made from whiteheart malleable iron the most appropriate material for this<br />
style of <strong>ironmongery</strong>, renowned for its strength and durability to offer long life of the product.<br />
The Kirkpatrick range is recognized throughout the villages all over the UK for it’s Black decorative hinges and latches. To<br />
create the most durable and hardwearing of finishes, the products are dipped in liquid paint, stove dried and then black powder<br />
coated and cured by stoving. This prevents rusting but moving parts should be oiled regularly.<br />
CARE - Wipe over with a light oiled cloth to protect the surface from harmful deposits, this is even more critical near the coast as the salt in the sea air can<br />
have a corrosive effect in the ironwork.<br />
BRASS<br />
Brass <strong>com</strong>es either in a polished or aged finish see description of product for the particular finish. Most of the door knobs<br />
are made from solid brass, however see the description for further details.<br />
Care - They are not lacquered so just need a polish occasionally to keep the appearance.<br />
NICKEL<br />
Solid brass with nickel plating – highly polished appearance.<br />
CARE - as per brass, do not use abrasive cleaners as this will damage the surface.<br />
IRON<br />
Aged iron is hand finished to give the truly aged appearance and authenticity.<br />
CARE - wipe over with a light oil periodically to enhance the metal. Do not use abrasives as this will damage the surface.<br />
GIARA<br />
They are manufactured from Britanium or Bronze, to give the distinctive style to this range. These metals are then finished to give<br />
a variation on the natural metal, Natural and aged bronze, britanium or verde imperial (marbled verdigris).<br />
CARE - wipe with non abrasive products. They are unlacquered so will age over time and develop a natural patina.<br />
