theirs is no ordinary business. 

Feldmar Watch Company evolved through a 

legacy of family values that stretches back 

to the beginning of the 20th century. Through 

100 years of determination and exceptional 

service, Feldmar Watch Company has 

earned a respected place in the industry 

while remaining firmly rooted in the history 

of its past. 

It began in 1913, when Hungarian immigrant 

Jack Feldmar started a repair business fixing 

the broken, relinquished watches of Newark, 

New Jersey pawnshops. He repaired

Representing the absolute benchmark in the 

field of fine watchmaking, the House of Breguet 

has embraced innovation for over two 

centuries. Founder Abraham-Louis Breguet 

devised a number of brilliant watchmaking 

concepts such as the tourbillon, the parechute 

shock absorbing device and the gong 

spring. This time-honored knowledge is maintained, 

perpetuated and constantly enriched 

in order to keep the brand at the forefront of 

technology, while making optimal use of this 

expertise in Breguet’s contemporary collections. 

The fabulous Type XXII is undoubtedly 

the most striking example of this approach. 

The Type XXII traces its roots back almost 

a century and boasts a strong foundation in 

aviation and of course, innovation. In 1918, the 

Breguet watch company first began producing 

watches for aviators and also developed 

chronograph mechanisms mounted in cockpit 

instrument panels. In the mid-1950s, the 

French Ministry of War asked Breguet to produce 

a reliable, accurate chronograph wristwatch, 

code named Type 20. 

The Type 20 was one of the first wristwatches 

to have a flyback function, which allows the 

user to start, stop and reset the chronograph 

with the push of just one button. The ease 

of use and time saved in flight helped improve 

navigation. 

The Type 20 was reintroduced into the Breguet 

watch collection in a civilian version fitted 

with a self-winding movement and renamed 

the “Type XX.” Its uncompromising looks 

and strong construction have made the Type 

XX popular among those seeking an original 

and technical sports watch. In 2004, Breguet 

introduced the Type XXI, a larger, 42mm 

version, with a flyback chronograph, minute 

totalizer at the center, and a 24-hour 

time display. 

The Breguet Type XXII chronograph, 

the latest extension 

to the collection unveiled in 

2011, offers an aesthetic reinterpretation 

of the legendary 

Type XX, but above all 

embodies a high-precision 

achievement. This creation 

is equipped with the first and 

only series-made mechanical 

chronograph movement with 

a silicon escapement and balance 

spring boasting a frequency 

raised to 10Hz (meaning 72,000 

vibrations per hour). This extremely 

high frequency endows the Type 

XXII with exceptional accuracy and 

rating efficiency, thus enabling it to 

mark off 1/20ths of a second. The 

seconds hand performs a com-

plete rotation in 30 seconds. This technical 

feat is made possible by the use of silicon, 

which serves to lighten the weight of the mobile 

escapement components and to reduce

The OMEGA additions to the Planet Ocean 

collection were one of the industry’s most 

talked about and warmly welcomed product 

releases in 2011. This year, OMEGA continues 

the collection with its stunning new 

Seamaster Planet Ocean Ceragold watches. 

They are distinguished by a ceramic bezel 

whose diving scale is made of an innovative 

new product called Ceragold. 

Like all the watches in the Planet Ocean collection, 

the Ceragold models have professional 

dive features including a unidirectional 

rotating bezel and a helium escape valve. 

The 18K red gold applied indexes and polished 

red gold hands are coated with white 

Super-LumiNova, emitting a blue light. The 

exception is the minute hand, which emits 

a green light, as does the dot on the diving 

bezel. This feature makes it easy for divers 

to keep track of the elapsed dive time at a 

glance. All watches in the collection are water-resistant 

to 600m. 

The OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean Chronograph 

Ceragold has a generous 45.5mm 

18K red gold case. Its most striking design element 

is the polished black zirconium-based 

ceramic bezel ring, which offers a stark, dramatic 

contrast to the Ceragold diving scale. 

Equally impressive is the OMEGA Co-Axial 

calibre 9301 at the heart of the timepiece. 

Launched last year, it was the first chronograph 

in the brand’s proprietary family of 

co-axial escapements. The movement has a 

special luxury finish including an 18K red gold 

rotor and balance bridge; the screws, barrels 

and balance wheel are blackened. 

With the OMEGA co-axial calibre 9301, it 

is possible to adjust the hour hand without 

affecting the performance of the minute or 

seconds hands as the wearer changes time 

zones. The movement is equipped with a 

silicon balance spring and comes with a full 

four-year warranty. The lacquered black dial 

presents both the 60-minute and 12-hour 

counters on the same sub-dial at 3 o’clock, so 

reading the elapsed chronograph time is particularly 

intuitive. The small seconds sub-dial 

is at 9 o’clock. The Seamaster Planet Ocean 

Chronograph Ceragold is presented on a 

black leather strap secured by a solid 18K red 

gold foldover clasp. 

The OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean Ceragold 

White Planet St. Moritz combines a 

42mm 18K red gold case and white ceramic 

bezel with a Ceragold diving scale. It is dedicated 

to the Swiss mountain resort town 

of St. Moritz where each winter, OMEGA 

times some of the world’s most prestigious 

bobsleigh races. The brushed screw-in case 

back is engraved with “Si14” (a reference to 

its silicon balance spring), “Ceragold,” “White

x fathoms 

Blancpain reveals its latest diving watch, 

the X Fathoms. This extraordinary timepiece 

revisits the characteristics of its iconic 

1953 ancestor and combines them with a 

mechanical depth gauge to create the most 

high-performance mechanical diving watch 

ever produced. 

The X Fathoms concept watch abounds in 

groundbreaking innovations, including depth 

measure up to 90 meters and maximum 

depth reached memory, separate indication 

on the 0-15m scale with an exceptional +/- 30 

cm precision and retrograde 5-minute counter 

for decompression stops. Its movement 

is based on the Manufacture-made Calibre 

1315, which has already proved its worth by 

successfully powering several models in the 

Fifty Fathoms collection. Self-winding and 

equipped with three barrels ensuring a fiveday 

power reserve, it is provided with a silicon 

balance-spring to withstand magnetic 

disturbances. The watch’s imposing 55.65mm 

case made of satin-brushed titanium is water-resistant 

to 30 bar. It features a helium 

decompression valve for saturation diving 

and the unidirectional rotating bezel characteristic 

to the collection for almost 60 years. 

Research and testing conducted by Blancpain 

shows that the elastic properties and the 

resistance to permanent deformation of 

amorphous metal make this material ideal 

for the depth gauge membrane. This choice 

allows the company to reduce its thickness 

by half compared to steel and gain in precision. 

It also allows for avoiding the risk of micro-cracks 

given the long-term stability of the 

alloy. However, the non-linear nature of the 

membrane deformation had to be corrected. 

The ingenious solution to this quandary 

is the asymmetrical toothing of the rack and 

pinion that makes the curve of the membrane 

deformation linear. The individual calibration 

of each X Fathoms guarantees maximal precision 

of depth indications. 

The display offers optimal legibility with 

central depth indication hands, matte black 

background color to enhance contrast and 

three-color luminescence to distinguish indications 

useful underwater. The most complex 

injected rubber strap ever conceived 

gives the final finishing touch. It comprises 

14 articulated parts to ensure a perfect fit on 

the wrist and allow water to seep in under 

the watch in order to come in contact with 

the membrane.

From the pocket to the wrist to the dashboard, Bell & Ross has used military timepiece history to

After almost 30 years of unbowed fascination for fine mechanical wristwatches the brand Chronoswiss 

has influenced the mechanical renaissance like hardly any other. Known for its high-quality Swiss components

The brand name, is a neologism derived from “Chronos” the Greek god of time and “Swiss” according

Navigation officers used observation watches, 

also known as deck watches, to help determine 

a ship’s position at sea. The town of Glashütte, 

Germany produced marine chronometers 

and observation watches until well into the 

1970s. Taking great pride in this tradition, last 

year Glashütte Original presented a new 

version of the observation watch: a limited 

edition in white gold honoring the memory 

of Julius Assmann and Roald Amundsen. 

This year the firm follows the limited edition 

model with a stainless steel version, available 

with two elegant variants of the dial. 

Julius Assmann was one of the extraordinary 

watchmakers who established the industry 

senator observer 

in Glashütte. His firm specialized in the 

manufacture of these handmade wonders. 

The precision and reliability of its observation 

watches - in particular under extreme weather 

conditions — made them indispensable to 

navigation officers, pilots, and pioneering 

explorers such as Roald Amundsen, who took 

a number of Julius Assmann observation 

watches with him on his legendary expedition 

to the South Pole in 1911. 

The design of the Senator Observer takes 

its inspiration directly from the observation 

watches made in Assmann’s Glashütte atelier. 

There are two stainless steel models, one 

with a lacquered silver grained dial, the other 

with a lacquered gray grained dial. 

The dials of both are built up slowly from 

three separate layers of lacquer and present 

a finely textured, grained surface, showing a 

subsidiary seconds dial at 9 o’clock and the 

power reserve display at 3 o’clock. Glashütte 

Original’s compelling panorama date display 

is featured prominently at 6 o’clock. Blued 

steel hands and a milled railroad chapter ring 

frame black and white Arabic numerals. 

The Senator Observer features a 44mm case 

fashioned of polished and satin-brushed 

stainless steel and is available with either a 

black Louisiana alligator leather strap or a 

“vintage” brown calfskin strap, both available 

with a stainless steel fold-over clasp. 

At the heart of the Senator Observer is 

the automatic Caliber 100-14, an exquisitely 

finished self-winding movement with a 55 

hour power reserve. Although traditional 

observation watches used hand-wound 

movements, Glashütte Original has chosen 

to outfit the Senator Observer with a 

contemporary automatic movement in order 

to maximize comfort for the wearer. Thus, 

the Ab Auf indicator on the dial represents 

a true power reserve, rather than a simple 

indication of running time. The exquisite 

finishing of the automatic Caliber 100-14 is 

easily visible through the sapphire case back.

Bell & Ross is passionate about military history—particularly 

that of aviation, which made 

precise timekeeping one of its key navigational 

tools. In 2011 Bell & Ross reached a key 

stage in its history, updating the wrist watches 

worn during World War I by creating the 

PW1 (Pocket Watch 1), and the Vintage WW1 

(Wrist Watch 1). In 2012, Bell & Ross is marking 

another key moment in the history of military 

watchmaking by reinterpreting World War II 

navigational instruments with the VINTAGE 

WW2 RÉGULATEUR HERITAGE. 

By creating the VINTAGE WW2 RÉGULA- 

TEUR HERITAGE (Wrist Watch 2), Bell & 

Ross pays tribute to the timekeeping instruments 

used by bomber navigators in the 

1930s and 1940s. The VINTAGE WW2 observation 

watch emphasizes the minutes display, 

essential for aviators in calculating their position 

or flight speed. The modern version of 

this functional and historical model possesses 

the ergonomics and immediate legibility of 

a navigator’s watch. 

Watches of the period needed to be extremely 

clear for easy visibility. The VINTAGE WW2 

adopts the same style with its large 49mm diameter 

case. To ensure perfect legibility, the 

minutes are displayed across the full width 

of the dial. The VINTAGE WW2 features a 

central hand for the minutes, a counter for 

the hours, and a small independent seconds 

hand, enabling a fast and precise reading. It is 

a Swiss made complication movement. 

The large bi-directional notched bezel is 

the most characteristic identifying element 

inspired by the navigational instrument. For 

greater comfort, the oversized crown is on 

the left at 9 o’clock, rather than the more traditionally 

placed 3 o’clock. The large grooved 

crown and wide-notched bezel ensure optimal 

ease of use, facilitating operation while 

wearing gloves. As with the original timepieces, 

the VINTAGE WW2 has mobile strap fastenings 

that adjust to the wrist for absolute 

comfort. 

The VINTAGE WW2 features a case with 

an aged, gunmetal gray steel finish, giving it 

the appearance of a watch that has gained 

a patina over time. The sand-colored hands, 

numerals and index markers, and the matte 

leather strap emphasize the authentic nature 

of this timepiece.

In focusing the year 2012 on the theme of 

Time, Hermès has chosen to enrich the 

Arceau line with a new collection. The famous 

watch featuring asymmetrical lugs reasserts 

its soberly understated elegance by 

appearing in new dimensions and accommodating 

Manufacture calibres. 

The Arceau Ecuyère model is equipped with 

a Manufacture movement made for Hermès 

by Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier. Its name is 

H1912, in reference to the date of the photo 

on which Jacqueline Hermès is shown wearing 

a “porte-oignon”, meaning a clever system 

serving to attach a pocket-watch to the wrist. 

Its dial bears a stamped radiating motif centered 

around the small seconds, highlighted 

by a delicate decorative fillet. Displaying an 

innate flair for details, Hermès has set the 

crown of this watch with a rose-cut diamond. 

This new collection is composed of five models: 

one in gem-set steel, two in rose gold, and 

two in gem-set rose gold with a matte blue, 

havana or black alligator strap. 

Designed by Henri d’Origny in 1978, the 

Arceau watch is immediately recognizable: 

the horns have disappeared on either side of 

the round case, replaced by two lugs echoing 

the shape and curve of a stirrup. This aesthetic 

principle ensures the closest possible 

fit between strap and case, as if the leather 

were holding the metal. Watchmaking enthusiasts 

and devotees of fine craftsmanship will 

find in these models the essential spirit of 

the House: that of an object born of creative 

passion and carefully mastered production. 

The plates are circular-grained and snailed, 

the oscillating weight is satin-brushed and 

adorned with a sprinkling of H symbols – the 

iconic Hermès pattern – as are the bridges, 

which also feature original cut-out shapes.

“Luxury is, above all, simplicity,” Christian 

Dior used to say. Classic “couture” in style 

and allure, like the Bar suit created in 1947, 

or the Lady Dior bag in 1995, or the fragrance 

J’Adore Dior in 1999. The Dior VIII, a new 

timepiece imbued with the heritage of the 

couture house, reveals itself to be feminine,

The ultra-thin case with its subtle attachments 

is spare and uncluttered. It is the epitome

classic-shaped wristwatch. This timepiece,

The Dior VIII’s color— a simultaneously chic 

and captivating black only ceramic can 

achieve — enhances its timelessness. “I could 

write a book about black. You can wear black 

at any time. You can wear it at any age. A ‘little 

black frock’ is essential to a woman’s wardrobe,” 

wrote Christian Dior in his Little Dictionary

From the technical viewpoint, the Dior VIII 

timepiece is a jewel of precision and refinement. 

Developed in the Ateliers Dior Horlogerie 

at La Chaux-de-Fonds in Switzerland, 

it is equipped with faceted, luminescent 

hands, diamond point appliquéd indexes 

and a unidirectional rotating bezel. On the 

back of the dial, engraved with “VIII Place 

Vendôme,” the movement on the automatic 

versions is revealed through a transparent

At last, the search for totally precise time, everywhere 

on the planet, is over. By developing 

our own, patented, low-energy-consumption 

GPS receiver, Seiko has been able to 

create a watch that can receive GPS signals 

and identify time zone, time and date data 

using the global network of GPS satellites. 

It recognizes all the currently recognized

Chronograph. The new timepiece 

brings the precise handling and perfect

The Hydroscaph Limited Edition Automatic 

Chronograph is innovative in many ways. Its 

exclusive Clerc C608 self-winding movement 

features a central chronograph reading with 

a technical and original display of short-time 

measurements. There are no sub-dials, but 

instead a sweep-seconds hand intertwined 

with a running central hand indicating the 

minutes. This original 60-minute display ensures 

exceptional legibility that is useful on 

land and in the darkest depths of the sea. 

The mechanical movement beats at a high 

frequency of 4 Hertz (28,800 vibrations per 

hour) and drives the hour and minute hands, 

small seconds at 3 o’clock, a date display at 

6 o’clock and a 24-hour day/night indication 

at 9 o’clock – a refined touch that proves extremely 

practical when adjusting the date. 

This exclusive Clerc Caliber C608 is 

hand-assembled according to the highest 

Swiss watchmaking standards. 

Like a contemporary work of art, the Hydroscaph 

Limited Edition Automatic Chronograph 

refuses any technical or aesthetic compromises. 

This approach is vividly embodied 

in the design of the chronograph pushbuttons 

at 2 and 4 o’clock, which are broad and 

hollowed on the inner face. Each reacts to 

pressure by pivoting around a lateral rod 

acting like a lever, much like a piano key. This 

highly refined and ergonomic structure offers 

excellent user friendliness that is conducive 

to the precision of the chronograph start, 

stop and reset functions. The redesigned, 

rubber-molded steel crown features an enhanced 

grip for even smoother handling. 

Such a wealth of technical creativity is entirely 

in tune with the DNA of the Hydroscaph. 

This instrument is equipped with a powerful 

case that includes 103 parts as well as the 

brand’s signature octagonal-shaped rotating 

bezel. The latter pivots thanks to a retractable 

flap on a dedicated crown integrated 

into the case middle at 10 o’clock. Returning 

the flap to its initial position securely locks 

the bezel, thus avoiding any risk of accidental 

deregulation while diving. The mobile 

lugs ensure a perfect fit on all wrist sizes and 

shapes, including over a diving suit. 

The multi-level dial features an ultra-technical 

yet readable face. Each section of time 

read-off is perfectly delineated and visible 

even in the dark thanks to the Superluminova 

coating on the hands and hour-markers. The 

new Hydroscaph Limited Edition Automatic 

Chronograph is available in three finishes: 

high-density steel, black DLC (diamond-like 

carbon, an extremely hard and thermally stable 

coating) and 18K rose gold / black DLC 

steel. Each of the three versions, fitted with 

rubber or rubber-treated hornback leather 

straps secured by folding clasps, is issued in 

a limited series of 500.
