One hundred years. Time enough for generations
There’s an elusive magic surrounding a
If Breguet holds a special place in our cultural heritage, it is because its founder, A.-L. Breguet (1747-1823),
set the standard by which all fine watchmaking has since been judged. Continuing in his legacy, Breguet
still makes each watch as a model of supreme horological art. No aspect of watchmaking escaped A.-L.
Breguet’s study and his inventions were as fundamental to horology as they were varied. His career started
with a series of breakthroughs: the development of the successful self-winding perpetual watches,
the introduction of the gongs for repeating watches and the first shock-protection for balance pivots.
Today more than ever, its capacity to innovate reflects a brand’s vitality. Breguet’s own creative powers
and ingenuity have certainly not declined over time. They have indeed been amplified, resulting in Breguet
filing a number of patent applications exceeding that of its founder’s own inventions.
As creators of instruments that celebrate the movement of time, we understand how valuable every
second is. To this end, it is not surprising that Maurice Lacroix has achieved so much so quickly. Since
creating our first watch model in 1975 our efforts have reaped an abundance of design awards and
patents for our unique innovations – catapulting us into the hallowed league of Swiss Watch Manufacturers.
Today, we employ over 200 people worldwide, but like those who bear our symbol on
their wrists, it is how we have achieved our success that sets us apart. We write our own history. Our
desire is not only to preserve the precious traditions of Swiss watchmaking, but also to expand those
boundaries. At our dedicated workshops we handcraft our own ground-breaking designs, from stunning
faces to precision movements. The result is a collection of truly unique timepieces representing
the zenith of contemporary engineering, yet woven with heritage.
A tradition of innovation since 1735. Using the words “tradition” and “innovation” to describe the
Blancpain philosophy is no contradiction in terms. On the contrary, the two are inextricably entwined
at the very heart of brand history. In a spirit far removed from production lines, and just as watches
were made two centuries ago, the movement parts are patiently finished, decorated and assembled
by hand in keeping with the noblest horological traditions. More determined than ever to consistently
improve its watches and to conquer whole new horizons, the Manufacture has always aimed to take
watchmaking to places it has never been before.
Since it was first established in 1738, Jaquet Droz has perpetuated the spirit of innovation and aesthetic
refinement of its founder, Pierre Jaquet Droz. The first watchmaker to set up shop in Geneva, this ingenious
inventor and man of uncommon vision conquered the royal courts of Europe and China with his
stunning creations: fabulous humanoid automata and precious musical watches. Jaquet Droz timepieces
have always combined design, materials with the most unexpected mechanical refinements. The most
elaborate complications are beautifully showcased with the purity of enamel or the luster of pearls and
precious stones. The Manufacture’s exclusive spirit is intact after nearly three centuries, as attested by
its exquisite dials, made to order from precious minerals and rare woods, its ultra-select collections and
its Numerus Clausus limited editions. At Jaquet Droz, we remain true to our time-honored goal, namely,
to push back the limits of the watchmaker’s art for your greater pleasure.
The Breitling family tradition of achievement in quality and accuracy in timekeeping has continued
for 129 years. Early on, Leon Breitling and his son and successor, Gaston Breitling, developed
and built the very first wrist chronograph. Willy Breitling, the founder’s grandson, later modified
and improved the modern chronograph.
1912 Stockholm, Sweden
Athletic events used automatic
timing system developed by
R. Carlstedt. Electromagnets
attached to chronometers
in a system that fastened a
control lamp to the starting
gun for each race. This resulted
in the firing of the gun,
which started a timer that was
1932 Los Angeles, California
Omega named first Official
president emeritus of the U.S.
Olympic Committee, devised
the “Kirby Two-Eyed Camera”,
which simultaneously photographed
the finish line in one
lens and a chronometer in the
other to capture finish times to
the hundredth of a second.
1948 Saint Moritz, Switzerland
The “Magic Eye” camera
ushered in modern sports
timekeeping. It replaced human
error with a highly sensitive
photocell and a lightning
fast electrical current. When
runners crossed a beam at
finish line, stopwatches were
triggered for accuracy to the
nearest 1/1000 th of a second.
1952 Helsinki, Finland
The battery-powered
OMEGA Time Recorder
did not depend on an
external electrical supply
and was accurate to
the nearest 5/100 th of a
period. The invention
was equipped with a
printer that could print
the Equestrian Games in
Stockholm, held there due
to strict quarantine laws
for horses in Australia.
1964 Tokyo, Japan
The Olympic Games were
held in Asia for the first
time and competitors’ finish
Representing the absolute benchmark in the
field of fine watchmaking, the House of Breguet
has embraced innovation for over two
centuries. Founder Abraham-Louis Breguet
devised a number of brilliant watchmaking
concepts such as the tourbillon, the parechute
shock absorbing device and the gong
spring. This time-honored knowledge is maintained,
perpetuated and constantly enriched
in order to keep the brand at the forefront of
technology, while making optimal use of this
expertise in Breguet’s contemporary collections.
The fabulous Type XXII is undoubtedly
the most striking example of this approach.
The Type XXII traces its roots back almost
a century and boasts a strong foundation in
aviation and of course, innovation. In 1918, the
Breguet watch company first began producing
watches for aviators and also developed
chronograph mechanisms mounted in cockpit
instrument panels. In the mid-1950s, the
French Ministry of War asked Breguet to produce
a reliable, accurate chronograph wristwatch,
code named Type 20.
The Type 20 was one of the first wristwatches
to have a flyback function, which allows the
user to start, stop and reset the chronograph
with the push of just one button. The ease
of use and time saved in flight helped improve
navigation.
The Type 20 was reintroduced into the Breguet
watch collection in a civilian version fitted
with a self-winding movement and renamed
the “Type XX.” Its uncompromising looks
and strong construction have made the Type
XX popular among those seeking an original
and technical sports watch. In 2004, Breguet
introduced the Type XXI, a larger, 42mm
version, with a flyback chronograph, minute
totalizer at the center, and a 24-hour
time display.
The Breguet Type XXII chronograph,
the latest extension
to the collection unveiled in
2011, offers an aesthetic reinterpretation
of the legendary
Type XX, but above all
embodies a high-precision
achievement. This creation
is equipped with the first and
only series-made mechanical
chronograph movement with
a silicon escapement and balance
spring boasting a frequency
raised to 10Hz (meaning 72,000
vibrations per hour). This extremely
high frequency endows the Type
XXII with exceptional accuracy and
rating efficiency, thus enabling it to
mark off 1/20ths of a second. The
seconds hand performs a com-
type xxii
plete rotation in 30 seconds. This technical
feat is made possible by the use of silicon,
which serves to lighten the weight of the mobile
escapement components and to reduce
the lubrication constraints linked to such
high frequencies.
omega seamaster
planet ocean ceragold
The OMEGA additions to the Planet Ocean
collection were one of the industry’s most
talked about and warmly welcomed product
releases in 2011. This year, OMEGA continues
the collection with its stunning new
Seamaster Planet Ocean Ceragold watches.
They are distinguished by a ceramic bezel
whose diving scale is made of an innovative
new product called Ceragold.
Like all the watches in the Planet Ocean collection,
the Ceragold models have professional
dive features including a unidirectional
rotating bezel and a helium escape valve.
The 18K red gold applied indexes and polished
red gold hands are coated with white
Super-LumiNova, emitting a blue light. The
exception is the minute hand, which emits
a green light, as does the dot on the diving
bezel. This feature makes it easy for divers
to keep track of the elapsed dive time at a
glance. All watches in the collection are water-resistant
to 600m.
The OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean Chronograph
Ceragold has a generous 45.5mm
18K red gold case. Its most striking design element
is the polished black zirconium-based
ceramic bezel ring, which offers a stark, dramatic
contrast to the Ceragold diving scale.
Equally impressive is the OMEGA Co-Axial
calibre 9301 at the heart of the timepiece.
Launched last year, it was the first chronograph
in the brand’s proprietary family of
co-axial escapements. The movement has a
special luxury finish including an 18K red gold
rotor and balance bridge; the screws, barrels
pontos
collection
The Pontos collection brilliantly combines
Swiss watchmaking traditions and mastery
with modern design, giving contemporary
shape to the passage of time and providing
the mechanical precision it deserves.
The timepieces in this collection evoke a
quest for artistic perfection, underpinned by
contemporary refinement. Pontos time passes
in a world of clean lines, firmly embedded
in the twenty-first century. Dedicated
to lovers of uncompromising watchmaking,
the collection masterfully combines rigor
with creativity. Seen as a whole, it symbolizes
the aspiration of a brand for which technical
innovation and artistic performance go hand
in hand.
Two new models joined the Pontos line this
year. Equipped with self-winding mechanisms,
they each illustrate the creativity of Maurice
Lacroix. The Pontos S Chronograph ap-
pears more dynamic than ever, imbuing time
with a sporty, go-getting spirit. The Pontos
Décentrique GMT reaffirms its place in the
world through an off-center interpretation
of time as it passes and crosses the world’s
time zones.
The Pontos S is perfect for short dives with
a modern style that combines form and function.
The character of the watch is clearly
inspired by the world of sport, from the tautness
of its silhouette to the determination of
its face. The dynamic strap is a perfect match
for the case. The all-steel version sports a
NATO strap whose contrasting sleek design
encapsulates the collection's active spirit.
Comfortable and hypoallergenic, especially
in wet conditions, the nylon strap demonstrates
exceptional strength. This no doubt
explains its extreme popularity with athletes,
divers and astronauts, who can easily adjust it
according to the thickness of their gear.
The 43mm stainless steel case is water-resistant
to 200 meters. It features a winding
crown and two push pieces shaped to ensure
a better grip, accentuating the chronograph's
strong character. The bezel ring is inside, in
an original contrast to usual practice. Besides
its artistic merits and enhanced sense of finesse
and purity, this design enables maximum
wear and has a patent pending. The
chronograph counters on the dial fit together
in a beautiful balancing act, without seeking
originality at all costs. Its legibility is perfect.
Available in a range of colors, the Pontos S
is mechanized by the self-winding Valjoux
7750 movement, which boasts a long pedigree
in terms of performance and accuracy.
The Pontos S will unquestionably appeal to
sports and diving enthusiasts, or simply to
those in love with an era that has turned elegance
and sportsmanship into a way of life.
x fathoms
Blancpain reveals its latest diving watch,
the X Fathoms. This extraordinary timepiece
revisits the characteristics of its iconic
1953 ancestor and combines them with a
mechanical depth gauge to create the most
high-performance mechanical diving watch
ever produced.
The X Fathoms concept watch abounds in
groundbreaking innovations, including depth
measure up to 90 meters and maximum
depth reached memory, separate indication
on the 0-15m scale with an exceptional +/- 30
cm precision and retrograde 5-minute counter
for decompression stops. Its movement
is based on the Manufacture-made Calibre
1315, which has already proved its worth by
successfully powering several models in the
Fifty Fathoms collection. Self-winding and
equipped with three barrels ensuring a fiveday
power reserve, it is provided with a silicon
balance-spring to withstand magnetic
disturbances. The watch’s imposing 55.65mm
case made of satin-brushed titanium is water-resistant
to 30 bar. It features a helium
decompression valve for saturation diving
and the unidirectional rotating bezel characteristic
to the collection for almost 60 years.
Research and testing conducted by Blancpain
shows that the elastic properties and the
resistance to permanent deformation of
amorphous metal make this material ideal
for the depth gauge membrane. This choice
allows the company to reduce its thickness
by half compared to steel and gain in precision.
It also allows for avoiding the risk of micro-cracks
given the long-term stability of the
alloy. However, the non-linear nature of the
membrane deformation had to be corrected.
The ingenious solution to this quandary
is the asymmetrical toothing of the rack and
pinion that makes the curve of the membrane
deformation linear. The individual calibration
of each X Fathoms guarantees maximal precision
of depth indications.
The display offers optimal legibility with
central depth indication hands, matte black
background color to enhance contrast and
three-color luminescence to distinguish indications
useful underwater. The most complex
injected rubber strap ever conceived
gives the final finishing touch. It comprises
14 articulated parts to ensure a perfect fit on
the wrist and allow water to seep in under
the watch in order to come in contact with
the membrane.
From the pocket to the wrist to the dashboard, Bell & Ross has used military timepiece history to
create watch collections well suited to every professional requirement and style. In 2012, the brand
added watches to its WW1 collection, continuing the design of a large fob style case and fluted crown
that evokes those early pocket watches transformed later into wristwatches. The WW2 timepiece,
also launched this year, looks back to the regulator watches bomber pilots strapped onto their legs
After almost 30 years of unbowed fascination for fine mechanical wristwatches the brand Chronoswiss
has influenced the mechanical renaissance like hardly any other. Known for its high-quality Swiss components
the brand is nowadays associated with exceptionally exquisite timepieces by connoisseurs all
over the world.
The brand name, is a neologism derived from “Chronos” the Greek god of time and “Swiss” according
to the appreciation of the Swiss watch craftsmanship and to the origin of the components used. Now,
due to the company passing to a new generation of Swiss entrepreneurs, Chronoswiss can embrace its
name further. In spring 2012 Gerd-Rüdiger Lang handed his brand over to the entrepreneurial family
Navigation officers used observation watches,
also known as deck watches, to help determine
a ship’s position at sea. The town of Glashütte,
Germany produced marine chronometers
and observation watches until well into the
1970s. Taking great pride in this tradition, last
year Glashütte Original presented a new
version of the observation watch: a limited
edition in white gold honoring the memory
of Julius Assmann and Roald Amundsen.
This year the firm follows the limited edition
model with a stainless steel version, available
with two elegant variants of the dial.
Julius Assmann was one of the extraordinary
watchmakers who established the industry
senator observer
in Glashütte. His firm specialized in the
manufacture of these handmade wonders.
The precision and reliability of its observation
watches - in particular under extreme weather
conditions — made them indispensable to
navigation officers, pilots, and pioneering
explorers such as Roald Amundsen, who took
a number of Julius Assmann observation
watches with him on his legendary expedition
to the South Pole in 1911.
The design of the Senator Observer takes
its inspiration directly from the observation
watches made in Assmann’s Glashütte atelier.
There are two stainless steel models, one
with a lacquered silver grained dial, the other
with a lacquered gray grained dial.
The dials of both are built up slowly from
three separate layers of lacquer and present
a finely textured, grained surface, showing a
subsidiary seconds dial at 9 o’clock and the
power reserve display at 3 o’clock. Glashütte
Original’s compelling panorama date display
is featured prominently at 6 o’clock. Blued
steel hands and a milled railroad chapter ring
frame black and white Arabic numerals.
The Senator Observer features a 44mm case
fashioned of polished and satin-brushed
stainless steel and is available with either a
black Louisiana alligator leather strap or a
“vintage” brown calfskin strap, both available
with a stainless steel fold-over clasp.
At the heart of the Senator Observer is
the automatic Caliber 100-14, an exquisitely
finished self-winding movement with a 55
hour power reserve. Although traditional
observation watches used hand-wound
movements, Glashütte Original has chosen
to outfit the Senator Observer with a
contemporary automatic movement in order
to maximize comfort for the wearer. Thus,
the Ab Auf indicator on the dial represents
a true power reserve, rather than a simple
indication of running time. The exquisite
finishing of the automatic Caliber 100-14 is
easily visible through the sapphire case back.
The movement features a characteristic
three-quarter plate with Glashütte ribbing,
polished steel components and beveled
edges that distinguish high-end mechanical
watches from Glashütte Original.
the eclipse onyx | grande heure onyx
Creations bearing the Jaquet Droz signature
are grounded in excellence and poetic
imagination. They spring from a matrix where
history joins forces with innovation and the
gleam of metal enhances the rare beauty of
mineral dials. In keeping with this exclusive
legacy, Jaquet Droz pursues its quest by introducing
two new timepieces of unprecedented
elegance.
THE ECLIPSE ONYX
True to its creative tradition, Jaquet Droz
continues to fuel a rich dialogue between
its various models, a surprising give-and-take
of materials and colors. Building on its unrivalled
experience with minerals, Jaquet Droz
fashioned The Eclipse Onyx with the moon
phase complication and a dial cut from a disc
of black onyx. The magical color of the stone
provides a marvelous foil for the bright rhodium-plated
metal of the eight stars and the
moon, whose vintage-style design remains
unchanged. Also cut from black onyx, the index
reinforces this striking contrast and takes
the game of hide-and-seek to a new level in
its high-precision interaction with the smiling
moon face.
The Eclipse Onyx retains its perfect overall
balance, featuring streamlined hours and minutes
hands, the graphic yet sensuous curves
of the date hand topped with a silvery crescent
moon, and apertures displaying the day
and month appearing in white against a black
background. Although its visual harmony has
been fully preserved, The Eclipse Onyx takes
liberties with the codes of watchmaking: for
the first time, a steel case is used for a watch
with complications. Reflecting the strength of
metal and the forcefulness of minerals, The
Eclipse Onyx asserts its evocative powers
and its aura of masculinity with utmost refinement.
GRANDE HEURE ONYX
Surprising the eye with its artistic prowess
and technical excellence, the Grande Heure
Onyx takes a revolutionary step in luxury
watchmaking. A disc of onyx, cut with great
care by the master dialmakers at Jaquet
Droz, brings out the magic of monochromatic
black. It's as if time had been completely reinvented
on a dark night, full of dreams and
poetic imaginings. True luxury implies a large
measure of freedom: no connoisseur will begrudge
the minutes or seconds needed for its
appreciation. Here, the minutes and seconds
have vanished from the face of the watch, until
all that remains is a majestic hours hand,
making its rounds once a day. Completely
redesigned to accommodate index markers
in the form of Arabic numerals, the dial
reflects this new take on the philosophy of
time. A visual image whose impact relies on
simplicity – black onyx versus bright steel, the
balance contributed by its single hand versus
the generous curves of the case – the Grande
Heure Onyx expresses the purity favored by
Jaquet Droz and is certain to delight watch
aficionados. For these connoisseurs, there is
much more to time than taking the frenzied
pulse of everyday life: the mystery of its passing
and the magic of its daily rebirth are an
endless source of fascination.
Breitling reasserts its horological mastery
by launching a “world time” chronograph
equipped with a new caliber entirely developed
and produced in-house. Thanks to its
double disk, the Transocean Chronograph
Unitime simultaneously and constantly indicates
the time in all 24 time zones. An innovative
system based on a patented mechanism
enables the user, when changing time zones,
to adjust all the indications in one smooth
and easy move by simply turning the crown.
This exceptional new instrument makes its
grand entry into the world of exclusive luxury
timepieces.
While Breitling’s chronographs and instruments
for professionals have established
themselves since 1884 as the ultimate domain
of excellence, travel watches have also
played an important role in the history of the
brand with the iconic winged “B.” In sharing
the finest hours in the conquest of the skies,
Breitling accompanied the boom in air transport
and long distance travel. During the
1950s and 60s, the brand distinguished itself
transocean
chronograph
unitime
by introducing a sophisticated model named
Unitime, a self-winding “world time” watch
that has since become a much sought after
collector’s item. Today, Breitling is further
extending its invitation to enjoy travel and
performance by combining universal time
and the chronograph function within a new
model in the Transocean range — a collection
reflecting all the refinement and prestige of
luxury, long-distance journeys.
Associating innovative technology with stylish
aesthetics, the Transocean Chronograph
Unitime is distinguished by its modern, pure
lines and the infinite care lavished on the
smallest details — such as its dial bearing a
globe pattern. It comes in steel or red gold
versions with the city bezel available in several
languages.
In creating Caliber 01, the Breitling engineers
devised the world’s best chronograph movement.
In developing the new Caliber 05,
based on the same high performance architecture,
they have reinvented the world time
mechanism by equipping it with an adjust-
ment system boasting unprecedented user
friendliness. The Transocean Chronograph
Unitime features two mobile disks: a 24-hour
disk and a disk bearing the names of 24 cities
representing the world’s 24 time zones.
The time shown by the central hands corresponds
to that of the time zone displayed at
the 12 o’clock marker. The city disk also bears
indications that take into account the summer
season, or Daylight Savings Time (DST).
When the user changes time zones, they
need only pull out the crown and turn it forwards
or backwards in 1-hour increments in
order to correct the hours, the city disk and
the 24-hour disk. Meanwhile, the calendar is
easily adjusted in both directions to the date
corresponding to local time. During these
maneuvers, the minutes and seconds hands
continue running normally without any loss
of precision, and without compromise to any
chronograph timing operations in progress.
Behold the Transocean Chronograph Unitime
and be swept away by ingenuity.
Time is precious in an Haute Couture House. The closer it gets to the day of the show, the more every
second counts, the more every idea fuses together. In Paris at Christian Dior, all the floors on 30 Avenue
In the real and in the figurative sense, since the House now creates Dior timepieces, Haute Horlogerie
vintage 1945 tourbillon
with three gold bridges
The heritage of Girard-Perregaux’s acclaimed
Tourbillon with three gold Bridges places itself
squarely in the twenty-first century. Combining
noble materials and a high-tech finish,
its elegance and majestic architecture underscore
its singular character. This horological
gem is a rarity limited to 50 pieces.
Fashioned in pink gold, the case and the
bridges form a striking contrast with the color
of the main plate. Its matte anthracite coating
is the result of a particular combination
of precious materials similar to platinum and
draws on cutting-edge technologies. Other
elements, such as the barrel, the lower
gearwheel bridges and the bridge supports,
adopt this finish, resulting in a stunning
visual effect.
In a bold leap across time, this limited edition
of the Vintage 1945 Tourbillon with three gold
Bridges offers a new take on a movement
whose origins date back to the end of the
19th century. Drawing on the latest technological
progress, it concentrates rare technical
and Manufacture expertise within its delicately
curved Art Deco-inspired case.
The satin-finished skeletonized bridges, with
their pure, contemporary geometry, are the
fruit of extremely delicate design: first finely
open-worked, they are then carefully
hand-polished. Seven days are necessary to
obtain a perfect finish, since the numerous
closed angles form a considerable challenge.
The tourbillon system also requires special
attention, as its 72 components must be meticulously
assembled inside a diameter of just
12 millimeters. To cap these feats, a precious
matte anthracite coating gives this timepiece
its distinctive personality.
The self-winding caliber GP9600 movement
has an integrated micro-rotor housed
under the barrel, patented by Girard-Perregaux.
The mechanism’s architecture, also
visible through the sapphire back is further
enhanced by the matte anthracite-coated
components.
The Vintage 1945 Tourbillon with three gold
Bridges is a formidable demonstration of
the Manufacture’s expertise. What we see
is a perfect example of how aesthetics and
technique manage to reinvent and renew the
rules of the watchmaking art.
patented movement technology in a smaller package
crown’s unmistakably unique articulating arm and an
b Limited Edition Tread 1 Steampunk The Steampunk
design movement is informed by the concept of
combining a very old-fashioned appearance with an
extremely high-tech purpose. Therefore, the Tread
1 Steampunk Edition is a perfect fit, combining its
modern, cutting-edge electro-mechanical movement
technology with classical design sensibilities.
c Tread 1 The Tread 1’s unique functionality reinvents
the watch, extending far beyond the boundaries of
traditional watchmaking. The movement of the Tread 1 is
a mesmerizing display of Devon’s patented interwoven
system of time belts. This series of belts expresses
hours and minutes in exacting motion, while the
seconds indicator runs in continuous motion. To ensure
temporal accuracy, a proprietary optical recognition
system monitors each belt position at all times.
Operating out of Southern California, Devon Works has won over watch critics and buyers alike with
its first timepiece, the innovative Tread 1. What makes the company’s timepieces so unique is DEV-
ON’s creative use of technology, the most conspicuous being the patented system of fiberglass-reinforced
nylon belts which revolve around a central chassis to indicate time as opposed to a traditional
face and hands. The belts are only 2/1000th’s of an inch thick and are a technology appropriated directly
out of the cockpits of modern airliners and military aircraft. In 2010 the Tread 1 was nominated
for the Gran Prix d’Horlogerie de Genéve in the category of Design and Concept Watch — the first
American company ever to receive the watch industry’s highest honor.
vintage ww2
régulateur heritage
Bell & Ross is passionate about military history—particularly
that of aviation, which made
precise timekeeping one of its key navigational
tools. In 2011 Bell & Ross reached a key
stage in its history, updating the wrist watches
worn during World War I by creating the
PW1 (Pocket Watch 1), and the Vintage WW1
(Wrist Watch 1). In 2012, Bell & Ross is marking
another key moment in the history of military
watchmaking by reinterpreting World War II
navigational instruments with the VINTAGE
WW2 RÉGULATEUR HERITAGE.
By creating the VINTAGE WW2 RÉGULA-
TEUR HERITAGE (Wrist Watch 2), Bell &
Ross pays tribute to the timekeeping instruments
used by bomber navigators in the
1930s and 1940s. The VINTAGE WW2 observation
watch emphasizes the minutes display,
essential for aviators in calculating their position
or flight speed. The modern version of
this functional and historical model possesses
the ergonomics and immediate legibility of
a navigator’s watch.
Watches of the period needed to be extremely
clear for easy visibility. The VINTAGE WW2
adopts the same style with its large 49mm diameter
case. To ensure perfect legibility, the
minutes are displayed across the full width
of the dial. The VINTAGE WW2 features a
central hand for the minutes, a counter for
the hours, and a small independent seconds
hand, enabling a fast and precise reading. It is
a Swiss made complication movement.
The large bi-directional notched bezel is
the most characteristic identifying element
inspired by the navigational instrument. For
greater comfort, the oversized crown is on
the left at 9 o’clock, rather than the more traditionally
placed 3 o’clock. The large grooved
crown and wide-notched bezel ensure optimal
ease of use, facilitating operation while
wearing gloves. As with the original timepieces,
the VINTAGE WW2 has mobile strap fastenings
that adjust to the wrist for absolute
comfort.
The VINTAGE WW2 features a case with
an aged, gunmetal gray steel finish, giving it
the appearance of a watch that has gained
a patina over time. The sand-colored hands,
numerals and index markers, and the matte
leather strap emphasize the authentic nature
of this timepiece.
Armed with its unique military expertise,
Bell & Ross reinterprets the authentic spirit
of a vintage navigational tool with modern
watch-making qualities. The VINTAGE WW2
RÉGULATEUR HERITAGE is the embodiment
of master craftsmanship. By accurately
reflecting period style, this model opens a
new chapter in the development of Bell &
Ross design.
timemaster big date
The Timemaster family plays an important
role within the overall Chronoswiss collection.
This sports line is inspired by rich, traditional
elements, including a strikingly large
onion-style crown, and has been enriched
with the numerous models over the last
few years.
Only a Timemaster that included a large
date was missing up until now, much to the
chagrin of the brand’s connoisseurs. All that
changed at Baselworld 2011 when Chronoswiss
introduced the Timemaster Big Date.
This long-awaited new model offers more
than just a big date, however: a power reserve
indication is also prominently placed
at 6 o’clock. This enables the Timemaster Big
Date’s wearer to know when it’s time to get
out and move — an incredibly sensible function
even on automatic watches.
The new Timemaster Big Date offers a multitude
of functional and visual attributes: it is
quite obviously part of the powerful Timemaster
family with its sporty design combined
with fresh, colorful accents. The outer
appearance and striking measurements
promise to be a robust companion every
hour of the day: the intensely luminous elements
coated with SuperLumiNova on the
dial, hands, and even the bezel make the
Timemaster Big Date extremely legible.
Whether the case you choose is stainless
steel or steel-coated with ultra-hard DLC
to make the case an attractive anthracite
color, this sports watch is, in every aspect, a
“big” deal.
the arceau watch
In focusing the year 2012 on the theme of
Time, Hermès has chosen to enrich the
Arceau line with a new collection. The famous
watch featuring asymmetrical lugs reasserts
its soberly understated elegance by
appearing in new dimensions and accommodating
Manufacture calibres.
The Arceau Ecuyère model is equipped with
a Manufacture movement made for Hermès
by Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier. Its name is
H1912, in reference to the date of the photo
on which Jacqueline Hermès is shown wearing
a “porte-oignon”, meaning a clever system
serving to attach a pocket-watch to the wrist.
Its dial bears a stamped radiating motif centered
around the small seconds, highlighted
by a delicate decorative fillet. Displaying an
innate flair for details, Hermès has set the
crown of this watch with a rose-cut diamond.
This new collection is composed of five models:
one in gem-set steel, two in rose gold, and
two in gem-set rose gold with a matte blue,
havana or black alligator strap.
Designed by Henri d’Origny in 1978, the
Arceau watch is immediately recognizable:
the horns have disappeared on either side of
the round case, replaced by two lugs echoing
the shape and curve of a stirrup. This aesthetic
principle ensures the closest possible
fit between strap and case, as if the leather
were holding the metal. Watchmaking enthusiasts
and devotees of fine craftsmanship will
find in these models the essential spirit of
the House: that of an object born of creative
passion and carefully mastered production.
The plates are circular-grained and snailed,
the oscillating weight is satin-brushed and
adorned with a sprinkling of H symbols – the
iconic Hermès pattern – as are the bridges,
which also feature original cut-out shapes.
hampton women
Founded in 1830, the Maison d’Horlogerie
Baume & Mercier has always catered to discerning
men and women, offering excellence
in craftsmanship, design and elegance. This
coveted brand was one of the first to create
feminine timepieces in the Golden Twenties,
and since its inception has garnered world
acclaim as the watch with which to track and
celebrate life’s special moments.
It was just eighteen years ago, in 1994, that
Baume & Mercier first unveiled its Hampton
Collection in honor of the elegant Hampton’s
spirit. Inspired by a museum piece from the
1940s, the Hampton collection combines key
design elements of the original highly distinctive
rectangular case shape with stylish
and modern accents. Today, those prolific
abilities in product creation are immediately
evident in the newest introductions to the
2012 Hampton Collection for women. Baume
& Mercier reveals a series of three Hampton
women small watches that offer a classic and
refined design. This new, more petite size
makes a truly feminine statement, and still
underscores the chic elegance the Hampton
line is renowned for.
Heretofore, the Hampton Women collection
was offered only in a generously sized 40
x 27.1mm version. The new delicately sized
quartz watches feature a 34.5 x 22mm case
that is at once charming and alluring, and
brings the line to a new seductive, ultra-feminine
level. With this further enrichment of
the ergonomically appealing line, these three
superb models for women – by virtue of their
smaller size – are a great fit for any wrist.
The stunning watch features a shimmering
integrated polished and satined-finish steel
bracelet that complements the men’s Hampton
steel bracelet version – making them perfect
for his-and-her gifts to mark important
moments in life such as weddings and anniversaries.
The integrated bracelet on these
exquisite petite models is equipped with a
simple-to-use triple-folding security clasp
and coordinates masterfully with the polished
and satin-finished small curved rectangular
Hampton case.
Each graceful Hampton watch magnificently
offers date indication at 3:00. Two of the
three new Hampton Women small watches
feature feminine mother-of-pearl dials with
Top Wesselton, VS quality diamonds. One
version is bedecked with 8 diamonds on the
mother-of-pearl dial, while another model is
adorned with 20 diamonds on the elegantly
cool grey
the new oris big crown date
The sublime Oris Big Crown Date combines
the best of Oris refinement, with a sharp,
technical edge. The stealth grey coloring of
the watch provides a bold background for
the distinctive 3D Superluminova numerals
and indices. The watch features a 44mm
stainless steel case, with a grey PVD coating
for an attractive urban finish. The fluted
Big Crown bezel with screwed case back is
a stylish addition to this strong and distinctive
model. The focus of this timepiece is its
unique dial. The 3D indices and numerals are
made of a solid block of dark Superluminova,
which stands out beautifully against the grey
backdrop of the watch. Fans of aviation will
undoubtedly connect the strong aesthetics
of this capable timepiece with the grey in
grey design of stealth planes. In typical Oris
style the watch features double doomed
sapphire crystal with a non-reflective coating
on the inside. The dark brown leather strap
with pin buckle is a simple, yet a beautifully
complements the “stealthy” appearance of
the watch.
black reef
Inspired by one of the world’s most popular
diving destinations, TechnoMarine’s new Black
Reef collection is the brand’s robust, luxury
sport watch ode to adventurers everywhere.
Although its name may suggest otherwise, the
coastal Australian Black Reef — part of the
renowned Great Barrier Reef — is a diverse
haven for colorful fish and lush corals. This
brilliant natural spectacle draws divers from
all corners of the globe, united by their pursuit
of adventure, beauty and fun. TechnoMarine
found inspiration in this glorious locale and
celebrates the spirited trailblazers who make
their way to this spot with the brand’s newest
timepiece, Black Reef. And with an astounding
500m water-resistance Black Reef can take
on any challenge with gusto.
The masculine Black Reef watch collection
incorporates aesthetic elements of the diving
reef into its design. Most notably the vibrant
colors — limeade, mandarin and tropic blue —
on the bezel, along the hands and outlining
the indexes, were culled from the diverse
sea life found swimming in the reef’s crystal
clear waters. Acknowledging the water’s
perfect translucency, TechnoMarine chose a
sapphire crystal — the strongest and clearest
choice. The precise wave-like texture on
the dial alludes to a carefully conceived
harmony with the underwater environment.
And echoing the varied textures of the reef’s
coral species, the watch’s steel case mixes
brushed and polished surfaces. The result is
an intense combination of vigor and verve.
The visual complexity of the watch is not only
a representation of the durability, strength
and practicality of the timepiece, but also a
nod to the scuba gear worn by divers. The
luminous three-hand dial is easy to read
underwater and the bezel, constructed of
bi-colored and multi-level elements, is simple
to grip and turn while wearing diving gloves.
Even the watch case flows fluidly into the
rubber straps for a seamless, comfortable
and modern result.
Whether diving Australia’s famed reefs
or simply daydreaming about them,
TechnoMarine’s Black Reef collection will
bring you one step closer.
“Luxury is, above all, simplicity,” Christian
Dior used to say. Classic “couture” in style
and allure, like the Bar suit created in 1947,
or the Lady Dior bag in 1995, or the fragrance
J’Adore Dior in 1999. The Dior VIII, a new
timepiece imbued with the heritage of the
couture house, reveals itself to be feminine,
timeless and graphic.
The ultra-thin case with its subtle attachments
is spare and uncluttered. It is the epitome
of elegance and refinement extending
into a bracelet composed of little pyramids
fashioned in ceramic. As the hours slip by,
the light plays with its facets, revealing their
dainty design, like the cannage patterned
topstitching on the Lady Dior bag. Their pyramidal
shape recalls the silhouette of the
Bar suit, so emblematic of the House, which
revealed Monsieur Dior’s passion for structured
lines as early as his first 1947 collection.
“I dreamt of being an architect. As a Couturier,
I have to respect the principles of architecture,”
Christian Dior explained at the time.
Today, Dior Timepieces pays tribute to the
Couturier with the creation of the Dior VIII
wristwatch. Its name, consisting of eight characters,
is also a nod at the lucky number of
Dior’s superstitious founder: the date of his
Couture House’s creation, the 8 th of October,
his first collection baptised “en huit,” the
VIIIth arrondissement of Paris and its Avenue
Montaigne and 8 Place Vendôme, showcase
of the High Jewellery and Timepiece collections.
Moreover, “8” is the only Roman numeral
to appear on this ultra-feminine and
classic-shaped wristwatch. This timepiece,
destined to tick away the seconds and transcend
fashions, is rather like the wardrobe of
an Haute Couture House.
The Dior VIII’s color— a simultaneously chic
and captivating black only ceramic can
achieve — enhances its timelessness. “I could
write a book about black. You can wear black
at any time. You can wear it at any age. A ‘little
black frock’ is essential to a woman’s wardrobe,”
wrote Christian Dior in his Little Dictionary
of Fashion published in 1954.
Dior’s love of embellishment finds the Dior
VIII adorned with diamonds and precious
stones, sometimes for the range, sometimes
for the limited editions. A combination of
watchmaking knowledge and High Jewellery,
these timepieces evoke the work of the seamstresses
in the Haute Couture ateliers who
pleat, embroider and snip the fabrics with
the greatest skill and meticulousness. Thus,
the center of the Dior VIII’s dial is sometimes
highlighted with a trickle of diamonds like
satin stitching. The bezel may also be paved,
either partially with white diamonds inserted
between ceramic pyramids, or all-over with
baguette cut diamonds, citrines, tsavorites or
pink sapphires.
From the technical viewpoint, the Dior VIII
timepiece is a jewel of precision and refinement.
Developed in the Ateliers Dior Horlogerie
at La Chaux-de-Fonds in Switzerland,
it is equipped with faceted, luminescent
hands, diamond point appliquéd indexes
and a unidirectional rotating bezel. On the
back of the dial, engraved with “VIII Place
Vendôme,” the movement on the automatic
versions is revealed through a transparent
case back giving a glimpse of the black or
colorfully lacquered oscillating weight. Like
Haute Couture styles, intricate and elegant
right to the heart of their linings, this attention
to detail reaches a climax in the Dior
VIII Grand Bal versions, in limited editions
of 88 timepieces and equipped with an automatic
“calibre Dior inversé” movement. Like
the twirl of a waltz, the movements of the
oscillating weight placed on the dial recall
an embroidered petticoat, a lace corolla or
a plissé studded with diamonds, beautifully
bringing together Swiss technology and
Parisian creation.
heritage inspired design
One of the world’s premier watchmakers,
Movado is the Swiss watch brand renowned
for its iconic Museum® dial and modern design
aesthetic. Since its founding in La Chauxde-Fonds,
Switzerland in 1881, Movado has
earned more than 100 patents and 200 international
awards for artistry and innovation
in watch design and time technology, and
Movado timepieces have won world renown
for their unique beauty and timeless design.
The name Movado is hallmark of some of the
most famous timepieces ever created, most
notably, the Movado Museum® Watch. Designed
in 1947 by Bauhaus-influenced artist
Nathan George Horwitt, the watch dial defined
by a solitary dot at 12, symbolizing the
sun at high noon, has been acclaimed for
purity of design unrivaled in the history of
timekeeping.
When Horwitt’s dial was selected for the permanent
design collection of the Museum of
Modern Art, New York, in 1960, it became the
first watch dial ever awarded this distinction.
Known today as the Movado Museum Watch,
this legendary dial is regarded as an icon of
Modernism. A trademarked and award-winning
design, it now distinguishes a wide
and growing range of distinctive Movado
timepieces.
Always in motion, Movado continues to create
timepieces of exceptional Swiss crafts-
manship and design distinction. Swiss made
and water-resistant, the latest Movado
watches are all distinguished by this legacy
of design innovation and a dedication to the
future of time.
This signal 40mm automatic timepiece for
men is the first entry in the brand’s new Collectors’
Edition series. Being produced in
limited quantities, Datron is crafted of solid
Performance Steel and powered by a fine
37-jewel ETA self-winding movement with 42
hours of reserve power. Like its prestigious
namesake, it is distinguished by an arresting
tonneau-shaped case with two chronograph
pushers, and a striking two-tone dial with
contrasting chronograph counters and small
seconds sub-dial. Richly detailed by applied
hour markers and printed minute index, and
signed with the name Datron, the updated
dial is available in a sophisticated color palette
rendered two ways: black with silver
soleil eyes, or silver soleil with black eyes.
The square date window that characterized
the original Datron has become a modern
round aperture, in homage to the iconic Museum
dot. Exuding a casual elegance that
bridges day to night, the Datron chronograph
features a bold brushed/polished link bracelet
the world’s first gps solar watch.
at last, a watch adjusts to your time zone.
ASTRON RECOGNIZES 39 TIME ZONES
At last, the search for totally precise time, everywhere
on the planet, is over. By developing
our own, patented, low-energy-consumption
GPS receiver, Seiko has been able to
create a watch that can receive GPS signals
and identify time zone, time and date data
using the global network of GPS satellites.
It recognizes all the currently recognized
39 time zones on earth. This breakthrough
timepiece inherits the name of Astron. Like
its celebrated 1969 predecessor which was
the world’s first quartz watch, the new Seiko
Astron ushers in a new age of timekeeping
technology. Could this be the most intelligent
watch ever built?
FROM 1969 TO 2012
In 1969, the first Astron began the quartz revolution,
bringing “seconds per year” precision
within the reach of all. Now, the new Astron
delivers another breakthrough in watch technology
– a quartz watch with accuracy of
one second every 100,000 years and time
zone adjustment.
GPS SOLAR. ACCURATE TIME, ANY-
WHERE ON EARTH.
Once a day when fully charged, Seiko Astron
receives the time signal automatically
and, on demand, connects to four or more
of the GPS satellites that orbit the earth,
thus pinpointing its position and identifying
the time zone and the exact time. The hands
adjust automatically to the correct local
time with Atomic Clock precision. The new
Astron is solar powered, so never needs a
battery change.
The new Astron also has a perpetual calendar,
so the date will always be accurate, up
to February, 2100, irrespective of leap years.
It also has an easy-to-adjust Daylight Saving
Time feature.
THE SECRET IS ENERGY MANAGEMENT
Why now and why Seiko? To combine Seiko’s
solar technology with GPS required years of
painstaking and ground-breaking research
and development. Only Seiko’s advanced energy-efficiency
technology could invent the
miniature GPS receiver that requires so little
energy to receive GPS signals from four or
more satellites. And only Seiko’s advanced
IC circuitry expertise could make it possible
for the watch to see the world as divided into
one million 'squares' and allocate a time zone
to each.
POWERED BY LIGHT AND NO BATTERY
CHANGE NEEDED. EVER.
Seiko Astron is entirely self-sustaining and
takes all the power it needs just from light.
There is no need, ever, to change a battery.
hydroscaph limited edition central chronograph
Clerc Genève introduces a short-time measuring
instrument packed with innovations
called the Hydroscaph Limited Edition Automatic
Chronograph. The new timepiece
brings the precise handling and perfect
readability of competition instruments. Its
range of reliable and practical functions
will delight both speed lovers and diving
enthusiasts alike.
The Hydroscaph Limited Edition Automatic
Chronograph is innovative in many ways. Its
exclusive Clerc C608 self-winding movement
features a central chronograph reading with
a technical and original display of short-time
measurements. There are no sub-dials, but
instead a sweep-seconds hand intertwined
with a running central hand indicating the
minutes. This original 60-minute display ensures
exceptional legibility that is useful on
land and in the darkest depths of the sea.
The mechanical movement beats at a high
frequency of 4 Hertz (28,800 vibrations per
hour) and drives the hour and minute hands,
small seconds at 3 o’clock, a date display at
6 o’clock and a 24-hour day/night indication
at 9 o’clock – a refined touch that proves extremely
practical when adjusting the date.
This exclusive Clerc Caliber C608 is
hand-assembled according to the highest
Swiss watchmaking standards.
Like a contemporary work of art, the Hydroscaph
Limited Edition Automatic Chronograph
refuses any technical or aesthetic compromises.
This approach is vividly embodied
in the design of the chronograph pushbuttons
at 2 and 4 o’clock, which are broad and
hollowed on the inner face. Each reacts to
pressure by pivoting around a lateral rod
acting like a lever, much like a piano key. This
highly refined and ergonomic structure offers
excellent user friendliness that is conducive
to the precision of the chronograph start,
stop and reset functions. The redesigned,
rubber-molded steel crown features an enhanced
grip for even smoother handling.
Such a wealth of technical creativity is entirely
in tune with the DNA of the Hydroscaph.
This instrument is equipped with a powerful
case that includes 103 parts as well as the
brand’s signature octagonal-shaped rotating
bezel. The latter pivots thanks to a retractable
flap on a dedicated crown integrated
into the case middle at 10 o’clock. Returning
the flap to its initial position securely locks
the bezel, thus avoiding any risk of accidental
deregulation while diving. The mobile
lugs ensure a perfect fit on all wrist sizes and
shapes, including over a diving suit.
The multi-level dial features an ultra-technical
yet readable face. Each section of time
read-off is perfectly delineated and visible
even in the dark thanks to the Superluminova
coating on the hands and hour-markers. The
new Hydroscaph Limited Edition Automatic
Chronograph is available in three finishes:
high-density steel, black DLC (diamond-like
carbon, an extremely hard and thermally stable
coating) and 18K rose gold / black DLC
steel. Each of the three versions, fitted with
rubber or rubber-treated hornback leather
straps secured by folding clasps, is issued in
a limited series of 500.
With its powerful aesthetic and innovative
technology, the Hydroscaph Limited Edition
Automatic Chronograph by Clerc Genève
marks a new milestone in the history of
short-time display, and is doubtless the
most spectacular and creative way of
celebrating personal success.
