Methods<br />

Participants 50 patients with <strong>proximal</strong> <strong>humeral</strong> <strong>fractures</strong> (AO: B2, B3 and C2 <strong>fractures</strong> with significant displacement),<br />

aged 60 years or older, with no <strong>for</strong>mer fracture or illness of either <strong>in</strong>jured or non-<strong>in</strong>jured shoulders. Resident<br />

<strong>in</strong> Oslo<br />

<strong>Interventions</strong> Lock<strong>in</strong>g Compression Plate (LCP) and cerclage us<strong>in</strong>g a m<strong>in</strong>imally open deltopectoral approach (self tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g<br />

started after 2 days) versus conservative treatment <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g self tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g after 2 weeks of immobilisation<br />

Outcomes Length of follow up: 2 years<br />

Constant shoulder score (both shoulders)<br />

ASES (American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons) questionnaire<br />

Quality of life score: Harri S<strong>in</strong>tonen 15D <strong>in</strong>strument<br />
