2007 CFSO Specialty Show Results & Critique
Judge: Ms. Gill Baker
Nevhill (U.K.)
June 24th, 2007 : 17th Specialty Show
I would like to thank all the committee of the CFSO for all the kindness shown to Steve and I on my judging appointment for
your show. I enjoyed my stay very much and found you all most generous and jolly good company! Also, big thanks to the exhibitors
for the lovely entries, I am just sorry some very pleasing dogs had to go unplaced. I must make my apologies to some of
the exhibitors for missing some of my critiques on their dogs. I made some notes as I traveled to Montreal and some appear to
have been misplaced so I do hope the exhibitors involved can forgive me.
I can remember that my Best Canadian Bred Bitch was a very pretty tri of compact size, sweetest of heads and appealing expressive
eyes in excellent condition and who showed beautifully. She moved very well, but without my notes I cannot remember
the finer points or those of the other missing critiques for the veterans. I do hope you will still let me back in the country for
being so careless!
Once again, I appreciate all you did for both of us and can fully recommend to anyone that has the pleasure of being invited to
judge your show that they will have a most enjoyable time. Your country has some wonderful examples of our lovely breed.
My best regards to you all and I wish your club a most successful future.
Breeders: Cheryl Barnes & Susan Klepp - Owners: Paul Beturney, Cheryl Barnes & Susan Klepp, West Springfield, MA
Well-marked blenheim with pleasing expression. Just enough bone. Good neck and with time should make a pleasing, sound exhibit. Just a
bit raw as some puppies are at this age. Showed well.
2nd Jewelcroft’s Bonner Prince (Tri): (Ch. Dreamaker Tristen at Sharpcies x Ch. Burbrook Opal at Jewelcroft)
Breeder: Bonnie Sands - Owners: Sharon & Terry Burr, Puslinch, ON
Compact tri with very pretty head. Lovely rich tan. Good full muzzle with nice dark eye. Good bone and plenty of body. Liked this one, just
needs more training and to settle when on the move.
3rd Behabre Mackie (Bl): (Kinvaar Obsession x Behabre Valentino Gold)
Breeder: Barbara Steel - Owner: Barbara Theobald, Deux Montagnes, QUE
Blenheim with good markings and good pigment. Not the head for me today but heads change. Well laid shoulders and good conformation.
Wish he was a little shorter in body. Lovely coat and moved really well. I’m sure he will blossom as he ages.
Senior Puppy Dog: 3 entries
1st - Dellerose Lord of the Dance (Bl): (Ch. Brinklow Lord Owain the Bard x Revelry Dellerose Dance Cruise)
Breeder/Owners: Dorcas & Stephen Mycock, Delaware, ON
Well broken markings and a well coated puppy of sound conformation. Pleasing head, nice eye and good pigment. Good neck and body.
Well schooled youngster at one with his handler at all time. Lovely temperament, showing happily. Moved well.
2nd - Brinklow Devo Bracken (Tri): (Ch. Brinklow AbbyManor Bel Canto x Ch. Brinklow La Couronne)
Breeder: Norma Moffat - Owner: Bridget Godfrey, Oakville, ON
Compact tri with a pretty head giving a lovely expression. Lacked body today and just carried his tail a little too high.
3rd - 24K Solid Gold at Purrkees (Bl): (Ch. Lovejoy Cheers At Il Bacio x Il Baccio D’Marcella)
Breeder: Mary Madaan- Owners: Sheila Taylor & Jo-Anne Jarmasz, Sarnia, ON
Compact blenheim with plenty of body. Lovely coat. Shows too much white of eye for me. Moved really well and in good condition.
12 - 18 Month Dog: 6 entries
1st - Rabymar Adonis (B & T): (Rabymar Waltzing Darkie x Rabymar Aphrodite)
Breeders: Mrs. P & Miss I Rogerson - Owner: Norma Moffat, Campbellville, ON
B/T of pleasing size. A dog with plenty of substance with lovely head and good dark, large eyes. Good ear placings. Good bone with plenty
of neck leading to good shoulder placings. Good front and rib. Well angulated hind-quarters and good turn of stifle. Good hocks. Moved
with style and drive. Should have a good future ahead of him. If I had to be very critical his tan could be a little clearer but I’m sure it will
with age. A very happy exhibit enjoying his day and in lovely coat and condition.
RESERVE WINNERS DOG
2007 CFSO Specialty Show cont'd
4th - Barnesbridge Windsor Calling (Bl): (Krisbred Earl of Morton x Barnesbridge Chit Chat)
Breeders: Colin & Anita Barnes - Owner: Jayne Stanton, Markham, ON
A little difficult to asses this young boy as his legs were all over the place due to needing more training. When he did settle you were able to
see more of his construction. Well marked blen of good colour. Lovely straight coat and sound body. If he had stood still long enough on
the table I would have been able to see more of his conformation. Once he settles down he will have a better time, but oh so happy with
himself.
Canadian Bred Dog: 1 entry - Absent
Bred By Exhibitor Dog: 2 entries
1st - Keje Jack O’Lantern (Bl): (Kavalor Camden x Landseer Waverly)
Breeder: Cheryl Barnes - Owners: Cheryl Barnes & Kevin Barnes, Windsor Locks, CT
Good front, shoulders and body. Angulated hind-quarters. In good condition and moved with drive.
2nd - Holubs Don Quinn Quixote (B & T): (Ch. Barrington’s In Like Flynn x Holubs Wind In The Willows)
Breeders/Owners: Mavis & Jerry Holub, Newmarket, ON
A compact B/T with lovely rich tan. Pleasing head with lovely lustrous dark eyes. Intriguing expression. Good bone and body with plenty
of coat in lovely condition. Today he was having an off day and was just not putting his best foot forward. Most probably the heat, pity!
Open Dog: 6 entries (1 absent)
1st - Amerigo Blue Suede Shoes (Tri): (Oxley De La Corne Des Varennes x Nyxie Des Marliviers)
Breeder/Owner: Vivian Renee Simpson, Very smart, masculine, eye-catching tri who was very well-schooled. Stood out in this class.
Good markings with a lovely full head and large appealing eyes. Well constructed body with good front and neck. Plenty of bone. Well
rounded rib leading to strong, well-angulated hind-quarters. Good turn of stifle. In tip-top condition and moved with such drive. Very
much a showman. A very pleasing exhibit.
WINNERS DOG
2nd - Woodmere’s Red Baron (R): (Ch. Dubourg Coeur de Lion x Ch. Woodmere’s Princess Tara)
Another smart dog here. Ruby of rich, deep colour with many similar qualities to the 1st. Excellent head. Pleasing expression with good
pigment and good reach of neck. So well put together. Moved with plenty of drive, was just unlucky today to meet my 1st. Another day
could swap places. Well presented.
well, thoroughly enjoying himself.
Breeder: Norma Moffat - Owners: Clare Pattison & Norma Moffat, Kitchener, ON
Lovely headed blenheim of such sound conformation. Realised I had judged this boy as a young dog in the USA. I believe I gave him B.I.S.
He did not disappoint today. Has all his teeth at eight years old. Pleasing head with large, gorgeous dark eyes giving a melting expression
reminding me of one of my own dogs I used to own before he went on to greener pastures. Good neck and shoulders. Good rib, body and
hind-quarters which he used to his advantage when on the move with plenty of drive. Coat still plentiful and in good condition. A credit to
his owner. Such a gentle dog. A great ambassador for his breed, I love him. Well done.
Breeder/Owners: Darlene Petralia & Peggy Grapp, Ballston Lake, NY
A lovely sized blenheim with the sweetest of heads and melting expression, just my type. Very much a showgirl and had a great amount of
ring presence. I loved her all-over qualities. Good conformation. Here must be a CH. in the making. I wish her well for the future. Moved
really well, showing off her attributes. Wish she was mine! Correct body conformation with good angulation. Just loved everything about
Nice sized blenheim with a lovely head and pleasing expression. Good pigment and lay of the shoulder with nice topline. I’m sure on another
day she may have put more effort into the showing but perhaps the heat was too much for her today. I liked her. In lovely coat and
moved well. Just did enough to get her placing.
Breeder/Owner: Linda Ziehm, Ortonville, MI
A very well-marked tri with nice shape. Very pretty head. Another nice type but her owner must concentrate on getting more body
