Course Tracking
Upon successful completion of each chapter, you should receive a green check
mark in the course menu on the left hand side.
Tracking example
If you are not getting a green check mark in the course menu on the left hand
side upon completion of each chapter, then it may be an issue with your JAVA
settings. In order to check that at least JAVA 1.5.0_02 or higher is installed,
please go to the START menu in the lower left hand corner of your computer
screen. Select “Settings” or “Control Panel” and then “Add or Remove
Programs”.
Once the list populates, please look for “JAVA” or “JRE” or “J2SE”. If you do not
see it, you do not have JAVA installed on your computer.
To determine if it is enabled, please launch your course and then look in the
lower right hand corner of your computer screen by the clock. Do you see a
JAVA coffee cup? If so, please right click on it and select the 'control panel'
option. Then go to the advanced tab and select the third item down. Is Internet
Explorer checked? If not, check it. Now go to the 'Security' section under the
advanced tab. Is TLS 1.0 checked? If not, check it.
If you do not see a JAVA coffee cup, please go to your “Tools” menu on your
internet browser and select “Internet Options”. Then select the “Advanced” tab.
Scroll down until you see a JAVA symbol. You need to be sure your browser is
using JAVA for applets. Then go further down under security and look for “Use
TLS 1.0”. This should be checked as well.
If you are not using Internet Explorer, but are using Firefox, please check the
settings below:
- Click the Tools tab in the top left of the browser.
- Go to options.
- Click the content tab in the options window.

- Make sure the Enable JavaScript and Enable Java boxes are checked.
- Click the Advanced tab in the options window.
- In the sub menu below all of the main icons click on the encryption tab.
- Make sure that SSL 3.0 and TLS 1.0 are both checked.
Also, please check your cache. To check, please go to your internet browser
window and select Tools>Internet Options. In the middle of the general tab, you
should select 'Delete Files'. Then, look next to 'Delete Files' for a "Settings"
button. Select this, then see what the size of your temporary internet files folder
is. I recommend 2000MB. Then, clear your cache by deleting any temporary
Internet files and cookies.
Finally, please be sure to add the JKO website you are using to your list of
trusted sites.
This should resolve your problem. If you changed any settings, you will need to
restart your computer before starting or resuming your course.
If you continue to have difficulties, please contact your local technical
administrator to make sure the use of JAVA and/or ActiveX Controls are not
being blocked at your location.

Hooray! Your file is uploaded and ready to be published.
