Get ready for your RAF birthday celebrations
thank you
First off, we’d like to say a big thank you for being part of RAF95.
We really appreciate your efforts and support.
What’s raF95
all about?
RAF95 is a way of saying thank you to serving members and
former members of the RAF and their families. In doing so,
we aim to raise money to help those who are in need.
In essence, it’s a big party and everyone’s invited. We’re out to
celebrate the RAF and all those who have made it such a highly
regarded and valued military service.
It’s been 95 years since the formation of the RAF. Let’s have
a party to be proud of!
choose
your Party
The great thing about a birthday party is that
everyone loves one and you can have them
in so many places. So first off, what kind of
party do you want?
Family, school or children’s Party?
If you really want to crank up the fun get the kids involved.
What could be more patriotic than a tea party with themed
cakes, scones, toasted teacakes and lashings of tea.
Alternatively, how about a cinema party, a teddy bear’s
picnic, or an RAF themed lunch party all of your own?
at Work
RAF95 is the perfect excuse for a piping hot brew and
a slab of cake while at work. So, why not have a cake sale
or high tea gathering in your tea bar? Other ideas could be a
themed mess lunch or even a mobile party (an iPod player on
a cake trolley wheeled around the squadrons and sections).
in the evening
The sky’s the limit here. How about giving the brain cells a
workout with a quiz night? Hold a race night or a safari party
(a different course at different houses). Other ideas could
be a 1918 themed retro party, a murder mystery dinner or a
school uniform party. Maybe you’re a real party animal and
could ask everyone to dress up as their favourite animal.
Finally, one for the image conscious, how about a make-up/
beauty/pamper party?
What to do at
your raF95 Party
Already got a good idea of what kind of party you want?
Brilliant! Here are a few starters for ten on how to get
everyone in the mood…
How about some party games? Create an RAF-themed movie quiz - there are
plenty of movies out there to choose from! How about Gargle a Song where you
drink from a glass, gargle the tune or movie theme, and everyone has to guess
what it is. Fabulous fun!
How about a picnic or a Bring a Plate Buffet? If the weather’s nice, whip out the
BBQ. If you’re having a tea party how about holding a cake competition or try a
red, white and blue fancy dress theme.
Face painting is always a big hit with the kids. Design a giant RAF95 birthday
card. Make paper aeroplanes and have a distance competition. Maybe create an
RAF aircraft out of pennies!
What about balloon modelling, organise a treasure hunt, hold a dance competition
or offer a prize for the best and worst dressed guest. Make party bags and top it
all off with a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday. The possibilities are endless!
Red
1 (8oz) can crushed pineapple,
undrained
130g/4.5oz vanilla ice cream
hoW to
raise money
RAF95 is a great way to show our pride in the RAF and to
celebrate everyone who has served in it. It’s also a great
way to show our support for our friends and colleagues in
the RAF family who need our help. Here are a few thoughts
on how to raise some money whilst having a blast…
The simplest way to start collecting is to charge an entry fee
for the party. Why not ask for donations for cake or drinks?
You could hold a raffle, auction or simply ask people to bring
along some change.
Other ideas might include a “Guess the Teddy’s Name”
competition, or if it’s a school party, kids could bring in 50p
to avoid wearing their school uniform and dress in red, white
and blue instead.
getting the money to us
Once the big day is over, it’s time to get the money over to us.
Don’t worry, there are a number of ways you can achieve this.
You could write a personal cheque or contact your Regional
Fundraiser for a paying-in slip and pay it directly into our
account. All cheques need to be written out to ‘RAF Benevolent
Fund’ and can be sent to your regional office address.
Please make sure you provide us with your contact details
so that we can acknowledge receipt of the monies and thank
you for your support.
ecord a birthday
message, send it
to us, and it could
get uPloaded to
the Website.
share
your Party
The bigger the party, the bigger the fun, the more we
can support people just like you. So here are a few ideas
to get your party message out there…
We’ve got poster templates on the website, you could set
up a unique Facebook page for the event or Twitter account
and include the hash tag #RAF95. Share your party plans
and pictures on Facebook and Twitter (but remember to do
so responsibly). Make sure you email us your group party
photograph/party video/birthday message, so we can share
in your party success!
decorating
your Party
A birthday wouldn’t be a birthday without all the
bunting, stickers and balloons that go with it.
Don’t worry, we can help you with all that...
double-sided bunting
Simply print out the diamond design on the reverse,
cut it out, and get the kids to fold it in half to create
your own bunting. There are also drinks mats, stickers,
balloons and leaflets that you can order from your
