THE barrier between Mr. <strong>Dombey</strong> <strong>and</strong> his wife was not weakened by time.<br />

Ill-assorted couple, unhappy in themselves <strong>and</strong> in each other, bound together<br />

everything within their mutual reach, <strong>and</strong> made their marriage way a road of<br />

ashes.<br />
