A SHORT HISTORY OF THE LOFT 

Edd Sittner, a property developer from Las Vegas, USA, decided to come to Belgium and race pigeons in his semi-retirement in 

2005 and to this end he set about buying over 300 birds bred for him for stock. These came from such illustrious fanciers as 

Kees Bosua, Co Verbree, G. & S. Verkerk, A. & H. Reynaert and a few other top-class European fanciers, really the best of the 

best, and the birds bought were all bred from their very best only; really only direct birds from their very best. 

THEY COST IN TOTAL WELL OVER £200,000. 

In the years that followed these birds were bred from and the offspring ruthlessly trained and raced. Only the very best were 

kept and the rest were discarded so that by the time Edd took on an equal partner in 2009, namely Premier Stud UK, only 32 

pairs of proven breeders remained from the 300 birds bought! 

It would be fair to say that by the time ace British flyer Brian Bolton arrived to take over the race lofts two years ago, the 

biggest part of the stock loft comprised those birds bred by Dutch Ace Kees Bosua (about 70%) with 25% from Verkerk, 

Verbree and Reynaert and the remaining 5% made up by others. 

HOWEVER, THEY NOW ALL HAD ONE THING IN COMMON – THEY HAD ALL BRED WINNERS! 

These birds are now a family of top-class, true middle-distance racers, mostly small to medium in size, that are bred to excel in 

races from 200 to 400 miles. The birds in the montage photograph of winners of 2010 were flown every weekend from the 

end of April to the middle of September in races of at least 200 miles up to 400 miles, that is, every weekend averaging 300 

miles for 16 weeks, between five and eight hours on the wing every Saturday. They have all flown at least 5,000km and all have 

many, many prizes, with at least 3,000 prize kilometers each!

The birds offered by auction at this sale are all bred from the stock birds that have bred the actual winners at the race lofts in 

Belgium this year. They are THE SAME WAY BRED AS THE BEST WINNERS IN ONE OF THE BEST LOFTS IN 

ONE OF THE BEST FLYING CLUBS IN BELGIUM, THE MIGHTY ANTWERP UNION.
